| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I liked it. I'm kind of disappointed they left out Lum's storm troopers. I realize that they do not have to be in every episode, movie or OVA. But this ova takes place in school where you most likely would expect to see Megane, Perm, Chibi, or Kakugari seeing how they are the same class as Ataru. I give it a 7.5 out of ten. It did have the feel of a regular episode minus the slightly newer animation kind of like the rest of the ovas did. |

| Well this sure was an interesting OVA! The artstyle sure got a different turn on it with it all being updated yet still trying to be close to the original! It was a pretty fun and quite intense episode in general I must say! |

| This ova had some chaotic weirdness like the original series, but excluding Megane and his crew was weird! I'm so used to them being around, especially with these types of situations. Oh well, at least Ataru saving Lum from that giant serpent was something I enjoyed seeing :) Overall, okay episode based on an 80s series anime/manga. |
| Felt like a giant attempt to cram as many familiar things into a thirty minute span, far more then the other two OVA's did. That aside, I really liked seeing another animated romp with all these characters, and their usual gags. |
| Pretty good ova. Nice to see it in a more modern animation while still being close to he original story. Would have loved the song "Space is super weird!" playing in the background. Pretty impressive to hear most of the original voice actors in this ova. Also nice kiss scene. |

| I laughed all the episode and I liked the new art style. It was wacky and all over the place as it should be. Glad the stormtroopers were left out, the episode had more of a manga feeling without them. |

| that was great fun all the way through Seems even Lum has noticed the Ataru/Mendou subtext that appears at times. Poor Ryuunosuke, should have just let her wear that plain girl's swimsuit lol, she's obviously a girl either way. |

| omfg! the kiss between lum and ataru made my day x) it was so worth to watch this special episode!! and did no one notice that maison ikkoku (kyoko, godai and their child) was inside too?? I died inside as we never ever get to see kyoko and godai's child grown up and we finally get to see them there as a family!! *screaming inside also kagome from inuyusha was at the end too xD I see akane from ranma too!! |
| Love the updated art style. Not gonna lie I would totally love a remake of the series using this art and animation. This episode captured the chaos and slapstick spirit of the series well, it did feel a little crammed but I can understand why it was. Must’ve been fun for the VAs to return after so many decades. |

| Ik this was like a one time special, but this ova proves that UY could exist as a modern anime today tho I don't expect a lot of people would like it. Personally loved the animation. I like how even with modern artstyle Sakura looks like she was pulled straight outta the 80's lol. Kinda sad this is basically the end. I hope Urusei Yatsura will return one day in some shape or form. Guess I'll start reading the manga which I expect will be quite different from the anime. This ova was more of a tribute to the manga so that's why Lum's Stormtroopers were missing and we got to see Ataru's best friend character instead who was cut from the anime apparently. |
| Romance was kept to a bare minimum, but they made up for it with like double the normal amount of comedy. Too bad Megane appeared without lines (I didn't even know it was him at first, since he had a different seiyuu), though all of the other voice performances were on point. Everything looked absolutely amazing, and matched the feel of the TV series perfectly. I'm still excited for the 2022 series, and if it looks even half as good as this, I'll be happy. Also, poor Ryunosuke, she just can't win.  |

| The Animation is so much well done, not a single CGI was used! Now this is what anime should be animated! Nowadays 2020 it’s hard to watch picture by picture animation most of them. |
| Wasn’t sure what to expect on the very last episode of my Urusei Yatsura journey (of course not counting the upcoming 2nd season of the remake) but this was insanely fun, a fantastic OVA episode many years after the last movie, and I gotta say I really loved the art and animation in this one, it was reminiscent of how the remake looks but I would argue it looks better is some aspects, makes me really wish we could have gotten more Urusei Yatsura by Sunrise, but we at least have this single great episode. And I see some folks saying this felt like they crammed a whole lot in, while I do agree with that I don’t think it was hurt by it, because Urusei Yatsura has so many chaotic moments anyway so the crazy amount of shit in the last few minutes didn’t feel that overwhelming, guess I’ve adapted over all this time lol. And I was happy that they managed to fit in a sweet Lum and Ataru moment when he saved her from the snakes, even little moments like that are enough for me. And lastly I do agree that it’s unfortunate that Megane and the gang weren’t in this OVA, its one of the things I love about the original anime so not having them kinda sucks, but this was still great without them. And I was surprised there was no new song for this episode but that ending credits ost was very nice, I’ll take that. And it honestly feels kinda insane that there’s no more to watch after this, it just felt like it would always be there but now there’s no more, I’m sad but I’m glad to finally be done at the same time. I do at least have the 2nd season of the remake to look forward to but everything that came before it is done, I’m very glad I decided to watch this whole series and I will definitely revisit it in the future, a truly amazing classic anime series to the end. |
