Draka has earned trust this season.

What an episode though. The glimpse of events from the past while connecting to the present. Novak's goal in this episode and recent ones has been also defining more and more of his character. Jolenta will be missed.

What an episode! Yolenta dieing was somewhat expected. But it was on her terms. Quite similar to Rafael's death in the first arc, although the inquisition put pressure on them, they took controll of their fate and died for their convictions. And as was shown by Yolenta's talk with Draka, she is contend with what she achieved, that she continues this string of history. And of course we have the cliffhanger at the end.

Again, what an episode!

Damn, so all the OGs are officially gone. If the motive was to make it seem like their leader was to be dead, then I would've wished they picked some random from the group and make them pose as the leader, but Jolenta doing it herself really just shows his conviction to this whole thing, so I get it.

The carriage gang though, they is fucked lol.

Fck dude, this is how the reunion went down?Novak prob noticed but did Jolenta recognized its him?Worst of all now i dont see how he could figure out it was all Antonis doing, only hope is that blonde inquisitor kid he mentored for.

Got more depth for Lewandowski and im still pretty suspicious about Frei.He did seemed opposed went they wanted to publish the book.Seems like theyre in hot water, feel like its a confirmed that Draka will be the one to carry out the plan.

Another episode with their ideologies clashing and their convictions doing the same. What are they prepared to do for that very conviction? It's way too abstract like Draka said and Jolenta explained but it's what you do for that Love. Jolenta sacrificed herself for the sake of that book and the Heliocentrism she loved. RIP Jolenta. You were very sweet.

The road ahead will not be smooth as well. Draka has to carry this burden on her shoulders now with that book publishing and many things coming alongside it. They're facing some soldiers now.

I should have learned already... but I really hoped at least Jolenta could have an happy ending. :(

At this rate they are going to kill all the characters before heliocentrism will become the new model.

The last 2 episodes were really good, like some others before them too. It proves that you can deliver a solid anime even with a relatively tight budget, if you know how to do it and you have a good story to tell.

Say it every week, anime of the year.

I’m so heartbroken, how you gonna bring Jolenta back into my life for a couple episodes just to take her like this… The author’s lack of fear of killing off beloved and important characters takes this story to such insane heights because it makes every scene and episode so valuable. That last 30 seconds or so of Jolenta’s life with her memories of her father up in the stars and that OST.. perfection.

In a way it’s fitting, because that’s exactly how Badeni would’ve chosen to go out. The scared little girl who worked with them in the past really grew up to become a courageous leader. I guess once she fulfilled her obligation to print the book her friend wrote that was sort of her purpose coming to an end, but man it hurts. It also hurts that she and Nowak never got to speak again and he basically only saw her for a microsecond before that explosion. 😔 fitting that her hand is all that’s left of her since Nowak carries the glove.

I don’t get why the knights would shoot on sight instead of wanting to interrogate her and learn of the organization’s inner workings, dealings and plans. Just killing the leader won’t stop the adherents or their plans. Shows how short-sighted the church was.

Anyway, the future does now indeed belong to Draka and it’ll be interesting to what she does with it.. and how they get out of that cliffhanger. I just don’t know what to expect from this show and I love that.

Jolenta being so thorough in describing what'd happen if she saw Nowak again and and actually following through with it in practically the blink of an eye was chilling stuff. Still kinda wished for a final conversation between them though.

Comprehending the events that led up to Draka getting handed the torch all the way back from Rafal (and Hubert, and who knows how many more) is humbling unlike anything else.

In just 20 episodes,
Managing to talk about childish recklessness (Rafal), the loss of your bearings/seeking oneself during teenage years (Oczy), then the feeling of being a complete person during adulthood (Jolenta). And finaly pass it on to the youngest, your leagcy, advice and knowledge. (Draka)
Kino.

Based on all previous events, it could be expected to see Jolanta's death here, although I still did not assume that it will end like this. Not even a 5 seconds of talk or recognition, just a glimpse of an eye.

Frei looks very suspicious (although the short scenes were not that clear), opening makes it even more predictable. Wondering if he has anything to do with these knights that stopped them or if it will be related to further events, assuming it's not a red herring.

Big fan of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic universe.

Still they really had her blow up right in front of her father Nowak. I wonder if he'll realize the hand that he's holding...is his daughters

Jolenta's last stand, and her fate is sealed...

In the end, the passage of knowledge is a cycle. We went from Rafal, a spunky kid, to Oczy, a teenager who has struggled through life with no direction, to Jolenta, a seasoned, mature adult who knew the ways of the world, and now, the knowledge got passed down to Draka, back to a younger generation. Jolenta and Draka's philosophical talks were no short of thought-provoking, and with what happened with Jolenta, I think was not necessarily surprising, but the way she went out was perfect, just like Rafal. Huge respect for Jolenta. Now, onward we go with Draka, and the fate of the remaining characters is very much uncertain.

Rest In Peace Jolenta, brave soul.
Some amazing dialogue in this episode. The bit about paying the price for your convictions was powerful indeed. Not a series to make you feel comfy that's for sure.

Another wonderful episode, the final Jolenta scene is really upgraded from the manga in my opinion.

Considering the current pace we will probably finish Volume7 with the next episode, and with 4 more episodes to go after that, I speculate that we may have some new ending scenes.

I recall Volume8 being a bit longer than the others, still 4 episodes seems too many for adapting only that one.

Once again, things take quite a twist with this not being the 'reunion' I had in mind. Brutal seeing Jolenta go out like that but she lived up to her conviction right till the very end, and the scene where all her experiences were flashing bit by bit as the background in front of the sky and stars she loves to have her conviction remain intact was fantastic stuff. Another cycle ends and begins with her death and the torch now passed to Draka and the others with the fate of heliocentrism, but the cliffhanger at the end coming so quick leaves things feeling quite grim to say the least. The series has such confidence in its writing and the philosophical conversations throughout the episode were fascinating to watch. Jolenta was a great character to watch in her brief periods that she was shown in, will miss seeing that trio live on of Oczy, Badeni and Jolenta in their own ways but they did proudly gave their lives away without regret. The fact that once again, there was no dialogue, just a quiet explosion with her hand ripped apart made it feel more impactful and emotional to me, no dialogue in there. This was terrific stuff.

A bit anti-climactic ending, to be quite honest. Possibly the first episode in this season that I disliked. They'll have to expand on Nowak's story a lot more after this, because otherwise it would have been pointless bringing him back into the storyline. Well, 5 eps to go, let's see what happens.

And that's it for Jolenta. Her becoming a martyr was not something I expected to happen so soon but in the way things were going the death flags kept rising so it was to be expected. The way each character has their interpretation about God, religion and life for what it is makes this quite the thought provoking anime, one that raises many questions without expecting a definitive answer but a debate and a self reflection for the future.

Man, with this literal banger people are still not talking about it? Really?

I agree it was incredibly underwhelming but I can’t help but imagine that’s maybe the point, also I’m pretty sure she recognized it was Nowak a few seconds before death.

But I imagine with Nowak still being alive, he’ll confront this fact some other way, Draka still has her hood, so I’m waiting to see what they do.

Fuckooooo, rest in peace, Jolenta 😭.

Nowak will never know that the boss was Jolenta, that she was alive, and that he lost her again right in front of his eyes. From Jolenta's perspective, she may have seen a glimpse of her father, but as she said, "all the misfortunes I have lived through will help me make the right decision according to my convictions," and in the end she sacrificed herself for what she believed in. The scene of Jolenta looking up at the sky, remembering her life, broke me, and I couldn't bear to see Nowak hold his daughter's hand for the last time without knowing it was her. I'm crushed, this is pure cinema. Hopefully the hood Draka gave him will be a trigger for Nowak to find out he was tricked.

I can't believe they killed off every remaining character, Novak might as well be dead.

I looked forward for an emotional meetup, but what transpired is consistent with the philosophy and themes explored so far.

And in the end, Jolenta did not even talk with her father...
Unfortunately, it seems that here, that's how the dice roll. Gone too soon, although she did "achieve her goal" as a medium just like Badini and Oczy.

Also, it's looking worse and worse for heliocentrism - it somehow seems like the plan is on hopes and prayers by now due to the danger and the conflicting personalities

  • The title call "chi" in the bumper in this episode would mean "blood"; The father and daughter confront each other in this episode. (Forget about the lame title "the Orb")
  • Everyone in this show shows different perspective for his/her philosophy of life. The author's previous work 100m also has the same style.
  • Jolenta says "The meaning of life is to take part in the endless deed to edge toward good." This phrase reminds me of this phrase in Psycho-Pass.
  • The philosophy of Draka's uncle and Jolenta shows good contrast. Her uncle says "My philosophy is to live no matter what I do". Contrary to this, Jolenta's code of life is almost the same to that of bushidou. When at risk, people tend to try to find the reason to survive, bending their usual philosophy. But she's not. Those members put importance in their philosophy over their survival.

They hyped up the moment of Nowalk reuniting with his daughter for at least 8 episodes only to subvert that entirely and now he'll never know...

I don't normally post (just enjoy the comments from y'all), but I am ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED by the Jolenta scene. Did she recognize her dad? The shock of so many things at once may prevent Nowak from knowing it was his daughter after all this time. Also, something doesn't sit right with me about Frei. Is he going to betray them? All that buildup for her to just blow up. Once or twice it feels impactful but getting reused every oppurtunity it just feels cheap. The flashback was done painfully beautiful though.

Also another thing, how'd they know if it really was the leader blowing herself up and not just some random woman. It's more logical to suspect that she isn't and it's just a ploy to throw them off.
