The first episode struggles to find its footing, delivering a disjointed narrative and uninspired character introductions. While the series leans heavily on melodrama and grandiose themes, the execution feels clunky and overdone.

The visuals, though occasionally impressive, can’t compensate for the lack of engaging storytelling or emotional depth. Unless you’re a die-hard fan of the franchise, this debut is a tough sell and doesn’t offer much incentive to stick around

Never watch this franchise before, but the moment the OP song play I'm like "Oh! this is in Nico medley I've been listening to for a thousand times since 2008", this surely takes me back in time... so they used the same song (but different mix) for every anime in its franchise, interesting!

Now for the episode itself, I'm not a fan of the visual, especially the character design (it's also the reason why I drop Panty & Stocking).

But I'm totally a hardcore fan of the audio, especially the soundtrack. It sounds like the Hiroyuki Sawano's music but the composer are actually the duo that are relatively new to the anime industry: Shu Kanematsu (who compose My Next Life as a Villainess) and Takashi Oomama (who compose Blue Box). This anime will certainly be a new high of their career.

Ok, that was one bad rendition of the original opening song of Sousei no Aquarion.
The show starts a bit better and more promising than Logos, but still fails to catch my interest. Also the art is surrealistic for no apparent reason (aside of lowering the cost). The mechs resemble the original ones and somehow look way worst (EVOL had the best designs anyway and those are never coming back.)
Not to mention the sound design is weird at places.

Interesting start 😂 Is a ‘yet oceanless ocean’ basically just the ground?

But after that, it really went hard!
Opener was ok but the Poppin’Party&Yukina version from Bandori is way better…
I really enjoyed the alternative art style. Even tho the characters were weirdly proportioned, their expressions and designs were great. I hope there’s more lore exploration and less mecha fights, but this looks like a good one.

Have a AKINO kinda sing the OP still, but mainly a new singer to show that is something new.

Whoever pilot Feoh draw the short straw, the gravity on that launch is the worst by a lot

Feels like Aquarion. And I like Aquarion.

This is a joke right? Please tell me I'm dreaming. No...this is non-canon to me.

Seeing certain segments in the OP theme, they even tease what this could have been with silhouettes, had they not gone with this Powerpuff Girls/Panty & Stocking art style aimed at the Teen Titans Go demographic. It's like rubbing salt into the wound of old fans (the ones more likely with disposable income to buy BDS/merch). Wasted high production value. I hate it all.

I was kind of on the fence because of the character designs at first, but the show had me interested in the end. Why pick an Outcast as one of the Elements is the biggest question & why I intend to keep watching. And Parkour for God's sake?!

Unwatchable. I'm not so familiar with the franchise (only Evol, enjoyed it as a goofy romance mecha), just... why this character design?
Why everything is so weird? Why are you celebrating studio's 30 anniversary with this abomination?

God, now I'm really worried about the new Macross. Hope that Sunrise won't end up like this.

I feel like one of my fav shows got brutally butchered, but I shall continue watching.... also agreed that they ruined one of my fav songs for a ridiculous animation.... btw it says "project aquarion moe" but I wouldn't even call this moe
and sayo seems to be slipping in and out of people's memories as much as her appearance

You guys are too quick to judge. Logos didn't have Kawamori directing it, it was fanfiction. But he is back for this one. The ending song teases an entirely different art style so i think we'll have some surprises, who knows. There is some good musical effort too, Opening Theme notwithstanding. Yeah it's not mindblowing, but it's Aquarion enough so far.
Now if Fudo returns you people of low faith will walk back and praise our lord and savior Kawamori. I know i will!

My favourite series, turned into a weird kiddy series, and even used weird character designs...

Okay, goodbye Aquarion series, it's not nice knowing this one.

Instant dropped.

P.S. I really loved the previous series, especially, EVOL. So, yeah. I'm not hating it like a random guy, I even loved the previous' theme songs... it's such a waste that their focused fan base has now become something else.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I'm sold for Aquarion MOE
this MOE style not that bad and the story feel is dark like madoka
the launching sequence is very cool and I feel like a kid again
the Mecha not show too much this episode, but seem top quality like EVOL
OP song is remix of Aquarion song
ED song is from Akino (what is Aquarion without Akino)
10/10 perfectly mix

*too bad Logos cannot make it more serious and just a bad joke

Never heard of the franchise before but enjoyed this a lot. The biggest problem is the very strong similarity to Evangelion. I really liked the voice acting and the idea of contrasting art styles to accentuate the difference between the normal world and whatever the mythical world is worked for me.

Hopefully episode 2 will go somewhere with these ideas.
