Lightning is definitely making some important progress in his investigation. From behind the scenes, this looks to be more and more crucial about this arc.

It's been a long time since we've seen Bon's family again. Rin definitely feels something off about Yukio but I'm not surprised. They have an unique connection in this show that is much more than just this story arc.

This franchise had passed its prime of popularity, but storywise it's still as good as ever.

Yukio has the terminal stage of fear of missing out. Everyone around him have some kind of secret missions so I could see why he try to be the important person again.

Yukio is actually starting to get on my nerves. His mood swings this Season are just too sudden & out of left field for the other characters, not just Rin. He used to be the mature brother, but now? I just don't know anymore.

@YamiLoon I agree and I personally think this is the best season yet so far! Strange that this anime almost seems to be a sleeper for a lot of people but it has a ton of depth and is really enjoyable.

Lightning finally killer Doctor Dragulescu. It was much Romania reference, but I like it, since I am also Romanian.

Yukio changed and cannot have good relationships with his brother, but we’ll see later.

What an immense pleasure it was to witness Renzo being relentlessly tormented by the entirety of Kyoto! Between his niece hitting him, his sister ignoring him, and Kinzo landing a low kick on him just to hug his brother Gozo, Renzo truly got his comeuppance!

On a more serious note, I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this in a previous episode, but I genuinely believe this one was, by far, one of my favorite episode of the season.

It encapsulates everything that defines the charm of Blue Exorcist post-Illuminati: mystery, tension, drama, and lighter moments that serve to further develop certain relationships.

To those who criticize Yukio’s behavior, although such grievances may be legitimate, I assure you that it all holds significant meaning (and it’s not merely because he seeks to uncover his past and the circumstances of his birth—it goes far beyond that).

This episode also gave us the opportunity to reconnect with important characters from season 2, and I must admit, it warmed my nostalgic heart to see all these familiar faces again.

To conclude, though I may sound repetitive, I wish to sincerely thank Studio Voln for addressing the fans’ critiques regarding animation, pacing, and, most importantly, the direction. The adaptation remains very faithful to the manga, but by combining this with the talents of the voice actors and composers, the new artistic direction aligns much better with the anime and the story it seeks to tell.

Two scenes, in particular, stood out to me: Yukio’s outburst against Rin and the death threat aimed at Ryuji. Voln truly excelled in these moments. From the color grading, lighting, ost's, animation, and voice acting, everything was impeccably executed (special mention to Lightning, who is unequivocally the best character in the series).

With such a promising setup, I ask you: how can one not eagerly anticipate the next episode?

@Kumoiro_Shizuki this was animated in house so as my assumptions season 5 will be fully in house like season 3 because i mean voln isnt really workin on anything else,
so definetly the quality would be better in season 5 , mark my words

@Sheol01 That's a topic that came in the manga fanbase back then , if anything , Rin is the most mature of the twins and there were some well-detailed explanations about it.
Yukio's emotional maturity is absolutely terrible , there were multiple cases even in this season(hello episode 3) , and i'm not including this episode.

Not saying that Rin is very mature , but he is still better than Yukio in that regard , which is revealing.

@Kumoiro_Shizuki Big agree , very complete episode and Voln nailed it .

I have some (minor) issues about this season pacing , but this episode is perfect in that regard.

About the two scenes , i'm surprised on how different (in a good way) the artstyle was , the use of black felt and shadow was very well done , when doing close up on Yukio.

The story is fine, but I can't deal with the animation/drawing.

Is it because of the budget or because of the studio?

@SimplePseudo Exactly. This added a darker edge, making the scene even more dramatic. Voln is capable of producing qualitative scenes (as in Karakuri circus). It seems to me that s3 was more a way for the studio to test the waters and understand this community. Let's hope they keep up the momentum and prove that Blue Exorcist deserves more.

I wonder is Yukio's change might be somehow connected to the runnaway demon they had mentioned earlier,?

Really happy for Juzo and Mamushi. I remember how amusing of a couple they were. Mamushi and her sisters are the prettiest in this anime. Also Yukio finally showing his true colors. Someone beat the shit out of him already.

Is it because he doesn't nice to the MC?
I have read a person said hate him because he's in the way of Rin and Shiemi.

Yukio is frightening… I think he has another being inside him.

Going back to the lighthearted stuff… It was a very wholesome and sweet episode. I love how Bon’s , Koneko and Shima’s family are close to each other. I feel so sorry for Rin. He wants to get through to his brother but gets more further away as a result

Also I love Bon’s new hair!!

Yukio's losing it...

That music during the wedding ceremony was a bit strange lol

WTF YUKIO?

He is genuinely losing it man.

What is about to happen. Lightning found some weird tattoos on the chief of Sector 13, the Kyoto branch are trying to find a way to get that phoenix God thing back from season 2, and it looks like bad stuff is about to go down at the academy.

The preview for the next episode is Shiemi's house... Uh oh.

Btw, can someone please explain this to me?

Time in this show is so weird.
