The finale seems quite intimate, a lot of interesting things happened but still, overall I liked the whole anime more than I thought I would after the first three episodes. Misaki goat, Terminator also gained in my eyes, at first he seemed bland, but after a certain point he really became cool. Why did Terminator kill MC if he needed him and then he still needed the kids even though they were only needed to blackmail MC *Plot twist* oh shit, Terminator wants the kid to go somewhere with him and it turns out that he cooperates with Skynet in the future... I was hoping that the kid would listen to Terminator after all. Eiko who went back to the past because of MC, turns out to be MC's mother in the future... ok Overall I thought it would be a closed story but it looks like it will have a second season. |

Heavy finale. I felt like it could’ve used just one more episode to get more details about Malcom lees son from the future. The whole series was so brutal, but honestly it’s to be expected from killing machines with no empathy set in Japan where there’s no guns. I was wondering how’d this fit in whole franchise, but I think it might be an alternative timeline where Skynet succeeds and there’s no John Connor? Edit: I’m actually wrong it’s canon along with the first 2 movies, so it’s happening simultaneously |

This anime was very good, I really like the first two movies in the franchise and it had been a while since I'd seen something good from the franchise. Thanks Netflix, it's always good when you get it right haha. "Come with me if you want to live."π |

Overall this was pretty good, some recycled ideas, but some fresh ones too, hence this was the most interesting episode and made the rest of the show better with the twists. It does use time-travel well. Animation looked great, one of the best looking shows of the year. I'd watch a season 2 if it ever gets one and has the same production values. |

Okay, I'd admit the finale was more interesting and better than I expected with the twist of Kenta and the Terminator. I thought they were just going to do the straight forward Terminator loses, Kokoro sides with humans, or everybody gets EMP'ed so future war for Japan also. Overall I still find the show a little mediocre. |

Hmm, I think this was still a good show. Didn't like the end-end though. Kokoro decided to try to coexists with humans and she's fighting Skynet while protecting surviving humans. Why did the gang decide to go into hiding anyways??? Hiding from humans and robots? Is Kokoro going to explain shit to humans or continue being their overlord??? Eldest son turns out to be the one who sent the terminator in the past to destroy Kokoro. Wtf? Kokoro became bigger threat than Skynet or something? How do you justify that? It's always baffling how dumb AI is when making excuses to why humans should be exterminated. Usually the focus is on all the dumb shit we've done. Hello? What about all the good shit humans made?! Sure, you can say humans love wars and we tend to destroy each other and the planet, but we also tend to self-sacrifice for others and do the unthinkable for the sake of those we love. Humans aren't so simple. Human unpredictability is what makes us special. Sure, AI may be right that humans are destined to kill each other eventually, but it's ALSO possible that we won't. I mean, we already had chances to kill each other during the cold war, but turns out both sides wanted to stay alive after all. Pretending that our wrongs outweigh our cons is stupid, unfair and shows BIAS from the AI. It's like how reviews of restaurants are usually made, for instance. People who enjoy "restaurant A" are likely to NOT rate said restaurant 5/5 or live a positive review. BUT if a person didn't like ANYTHING in said restaurant, there's a BIG chance that they'll go out of their way to leave a NEGATIVE review and/or rate it 1-2/5. Same with MAL. People tend to upvote negative reviews on shows more than they do with positive reviews. This leaves the impression that a highly rated show is overhyped garbage, when in reality people who liked the show don't usually give a shit about reading why someone else liked it too. Humans love to bitch about things they don't like while taking good shit for granted and without appreciation. Same with AI logic. AI tends to focus on negatives while pretending positives don't exist, hence massacre is justified. |

@alpo42ab I don't think so. Malcolm time-travelled to the past together with Misaki, and then met a random woman who he fell in love with and had 3 kids. Don't think she has to be time-traveller too. Just a random woman who likely knew nothing about Malcolm's past. |

@Sigmar-Unberogen Good point but it does leave the door open to make Malcolm's love interest also from the future especially since they played up the going back to the past a lot so every time that they do it changes the time line. We will see if there is another season. |

@alpo42ab I never even said anything about DEI. "How would you had them play it out?" this scene? they keep talking until gods and "misaki" comes up, and the robot says it wants that as a name, since it corresponds the guy's expectations. I also had a huge problem with malcolm saying he killed his comrades for her, instead for the sake of survival, future, or anything similar. @Marloges it's nonsense though if you think for a second. you're probably aware of it too since you have a mgs avatar. |

@nyugvo6 Like I said above Pantheon does the AI takeover better. Just tired of using woke for things people don't like out of context. I might have used the approach of AI advancement in the movie Her where they go for enlightenment. Agreed about the comrades you would think they would want to look as any avenue to win the war. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” β Sun Tzu, The Art of War |

Didn't really get the ending, never got what the point of Kokoro was, to bring her on line to beat Skynet after Skynet already became self aware and killed everyone? So in the end he just ends up having Kokoro defend Japan long enough for his kids to grow up? Also is his oldest son his dad? He bangs his grandma? Did this just rip off Futurama? Weird. Aaaand why didn't he just bring his kids to work with him so they could be safe in his impenetrable room? Or did he purposely let things happen so his future would exist. So like Eiko said they're just stuck in a loop. Again what is the point if that's true. |

Last episode, with a strange resolutions, the woman to the future is the mother.... and some questions without answer, who is the big child really? !!! Well, Kokoro is alive, then the temporal line is other to the original!!! Sweet ends to the humanity! Irregular series in general 5/10 to me |

For this to make sense Eiko actually has to exist twice doesnt she? Malcom was about 20 when he went back to 1983. He did it in 2040. During this anime its 1997. He was born around 2020 (or 2022, dont want to look up again). The only thing that makes sense is, that Eiko goes back into the future to get Malcom (mechanical prothesis, so its likely this version). And somehow around 1997 baby Eiko must be born., so she can be sent back into the timeline we saw during anime. ANother hint is, that Kenta send back the Terminator (at least if its true what he said) around 2022 (25 years in the future from 1997) which was around the time Malcom was born. I wonder if they make a 2nd season for that, but I only see it get even more compliated than it already is. ^^ Btw I wondererd about it, but actually didnt expect Malcom to be a time traveler as well, though it kind of was the only reasonable option. Well anyways, I didnt like half of the fights and CGI 3d models sadly are still bad when its not an Avatar movie with 3+ digit budget. Otherwise I liked it in general, especially the philosphical talks with Kokoro and ofc ep 7. Overall I would give it something between a 7.5 to 8 out of 10. I would have liked better animations and more realistic fights as in T2. Eiko felt off being able to dodge and "tank" so much. And by now it really seems to be implied she is human. Storywise I would recommend it. EDIT: I just realízed something! If a 2nd season happens, this coul be the first Terminator entry, where MC actually comes back to their OLD original timeline. E.g. she could come back to the point where she left. Maybe even save her female friend who was protecting the little child. She was asking Malcom if it was a time loop and it would be awesome if it would turn out to be true. Kokoro and maybe even Misaki should have the proper knowledge how to create a time machine. |

For those who're confused here's a quick summary of the timelines: Timeline #1: There's no Kokoro or robots in Japan in 1997, only Skynet existed. In the future Malcolm creates Misaki and goes back in time to create his own A.I. that could shield humanity from Skynet. This is the timeline in episode 7. Timeline #2: Malcolm arrives in the past, gets married and has kids. He introduces future robot tech to Japan at his company to quickly climb the corporate ladder and get funding for his Kokoro project. Completes Kokoro. We don't really know the details of how things went down on August 29 1997, but something happened that made Kenta side with Skynet. Most likely Malcolm failed and Kokoro turned out badly. Because of Malcolm's meddling, robots are decades more advanced than they should be. Kenta programs his own Terminator and sends it back in time to take control of, or destroy Kokoro. In episode 1 & 2 the resistance learns of this plan and sends Eiko back in time to stop the Terminator, and Kokoro too. Timeline #3: This is where most of the show takes place. This time Malcolm succeeds in creating an A.I. that would fight for humanity thanks to Kokoro witnessing Malcolm's sacrifice for his children in the fight against the Terminator. Notes: - The Terminator has information on Malcolm and his family but wasn't provided with the knowledge that Misaki is a robot. This means Kenta didn't find out in Timeline #2 that she's one. Also the Terminator has no information about the kids movements during those two days. This means future evil Kenta wasn't chased by a Terminator when he was young. Future Kenta's actions had the opposite effect that he hoped for, his younger self sided with Kokoro instead of destroying it. - The Prophet is most likely Eiko. Her words suggest she's always fated to time travel and lose an arm, no matter the circumstances. |

Anime'fied Terminator with a AI that has a Japanese spirit avatar. Why? This somehow managed to make the Terminators seem so weak, Reiko was able to punch and kick the Terminator and children kept out running it. The sense of dread and terror a Terminator is supposed to represent is completely gone. Just more generic slop, but this started with great potential. Even the production quality was bad by I.G standards. I guess the Terminator franchise is just cursed, even an anime cant save it. Sucks because I was genuinely excited to watch it and I had to force myself to finish this bore. 4/10 |

Hate to say it, but it was just OK. By no means something horrendously bad that crashed and burned like uh, Ninja Kamui for instance, but nowhere did it pack that punch I was hoping for. Enjoyed it while watching it, just wish that it didn't something more substantial to put itself on the map. 5/10 |

For the franchise’s 40th anniversary, “Terminator Zero” varies the familiar story of time travel and robot overlords by adding a bit more philosophy. However, the anime series doesn’t have any real thoughts to offer of its own. The mix of action, family drama, and existential conversations has been pretty solid. |

Finally finished. It was good overall. Some of the twists in the last 2 episodes I kinda saw it coming (thanks God I just watched T1/T2 recently). But I really would like to see a S2 for it. I think it has a lot of potential to reach a true end later. |

Let me get this straight: The soldier from 2022 time travelled back to alternative 1997 and met her husband she will marry in 2025 (who's now the kid of her son). The soldier's son (who was born in 2025) time travelled back in time from 2040 to an alternative 1983, fucked a random civilian woman from that period, giving birth to the soldier's husband (who's also his father in 2025). That means the soldier fucked her grandson, and he fucked his grandma. |

Incredible finale. I honestly haven’t this locked in to a show like in terms of binging in a very long time, took me back to early Covid days. Without a doubt the best piece of terminator media we’ve had since T2, it’s well clear of salvation.
The first few episodes really had me thinking it was just T2 and T1 mashed together, but the Japanese version. Malcolm looks just like the dude that Arnold and Sarah are trying to protect in T2, resistance fighter from the future etc etc. But I like how we ended up focusing on the philosophical aspect of man and machine, rather than the usual save the world stuff, we get asked if the world is even worth saving.
Ngl when Kokoro was asking Malcolm all that stuff about what humanity has actually given the world instead of just taken from it, I couldn’t come up with an answer either. Some really interesting ideological questions were posed for sure.
So many twists in this last episode I had my jaw on the floor. Malcolm coming from the future was a wtf, Misaki I had a feeling was a robot anyway from the first episode, so that wasn’t too much of a shock but what was shocking was her relationship with Malcolm in the OG timeline and how she was the basis for Kokoro. She was best girl tho and I’d absolutely take out my own unit to protect her.
Eiko being Malcolm’s mother tho wtf?? Kenta brokering a peace deal between skynet and sending the terminator back was probably the biggest shock for me. But it does line up with his character throughout the show who was always skeptical of Misaki and the machines.. just a lot of WTF twists and multiple timelines, I really hope they do more with terminator in this universe because there’s a lot of cool possibilities. We also don’t know what Kokoro will get up to now!

@Marinate1016 "Ngl when Kokoro was asking Malcolm all that stuff about what humanity has actually given the world instead of just taken from it, I couldn’t come up with an answer either. Some really interesting ideological questions were posed for sure." Because the show was terribly misguided in that regard. The philosophical debate started over whether humanity brought something to the world, compared to other species. And then gave war as an example of a unique negative trait of humanity. Which profoundly misunderstands Nature at large. Life exists because it perpetuates itself. Life exists to perpetuate itself. Any form of life tries to perpetuate its genetic material. Event ants wage wars. Animals that don't wage wars still produce offspring that will try to colonize new areas (just leave your windows permanently open and tons of critters will gradually invade), and will try to outcompete other animals in search for resources to perpetuate themselves. This is not a human trait. We are just more sophisticated about it, and capable of self-reflection. We also manage to fool ourselves that we are not just here to spread our genes. What I would have replied to Kokoro is that among all the species on Earth, humanity is the first and only one to have accomplished space travel, and therefore the most suited species to spread life beyond Earth itself. |

that was a fucking awful wokefest. I knew it was going to be this way, but I was hoping it'd be worthwhile in the end.
@nyugvo6 Also completely inaccurate. Female rulers have proven more likely to wage war. I usually expect better research and arguments from Japanese animation. On the Wikipedia page, "The scripts were originally written in English by Tomlin, then translated to Japanese, which was the language used for the animation." No wonder. Lackluster story, great execution (except for the 3D models). |

Let me get this straight:
The soldier from 2022 time travelled back to alternative 1997 and met her husband she will marry in 2025 (who's now the kid of her son).
The soldier's son (who was born in 2025) time travelled back in time from 2040 to an alternative 1983, fucked a random civilian woman from that period, giving birth to the soldier's husband (who's also his father in 2025).
That means the soldier fucked her grandson, and he fucked his grandma.

@Deago No in the future when she gives her thumbs-up, she is with her son, not with her grandson. We don't know who she met that became the father of Malcolm. I also had a moment of confusion and I had to replay the scene, as both boys look very much alike and are tech nerds. |

@rgk It's implied they're the same person, but from different timelines. |

As someone who watch every Terminator movies (and in cinema format since Terminator 3) here's my thought. The music - very good, congratulations for the composer Michelle Birsky & Kevin Henthorn (they're couple), this is Hollywood quality soundtrack The atmosphere - very good, I like the very dark atmosphere in this anime The story - struggling to find its place in Terminator Universe. But to be honest, Terminator Universe is a mess so it's not completely Zero fault. My advice is to ignore all previous Terminator media and focusing on creating something new. Zero chooses the second best option, which is to try to respect James Cameron's era timeline and ignore post-Cameron timeline. In normal situation I'll probably be satisfied by this choice but last year I watched Pluto which is a much better at presenting a philosophy of Human vs Robot. But the most important point is the character Terminator and I'm glad to say that this Terminator guy (that was sent back in time) is very good, on par with earlier Arnold's portrayal in the films. Terminator in the first film is too evil and in the second film is too heroic and this Zero guy stands between good and evil, he just want to get his job done. I think this is the very essence of being Terminator. |

What a brilliant ending, this show really just kept building and building, getting better and better with each episode. And it even finds a way to give the franchise's endless time travel meaning, bravo to all involved! I'd love to see the writer given the opportunity to write the next mainline movie. |

Well I've finally finished Terminator Zero. How's the finale? Well apparently the Terminator wasn't all that bad because he got send from the future because of a future version of Kenta and wanted to destroy Kokoro I guess and apparently Eiko is Malcom's mum. Why? I don't know this is a question as well as quite a few that I have regarding this that won't be answered in any way. This was just eh for me. It had so much promise, so much promise and yet it completely got bogged down in so much talking about what it is to be human and are machines truly evil and all that stuff when we really are here to see metallic beings causing hell for humanity, have a ton of action scenes and have well rounded characters and a well thought out story that makes the first two films. I will give them that they were at least trying to be different, they have ideas that haven't been explored within the Terminator franchise but ultimately it just amounts to either the interesting ideas going unresolved and never touched upon ever again or just basically exposit stuff for what feels like eternity. The characters really don't hold any weight to the story which the story itself is perfectly fine and functional as an entry for Terminator but a story can only go so far and I honestly need a reason to care about these people, Terminator Zero gives bare bones characters that are pretty generic and bland or at worst annoying. The story gives me enough to keep me interested, the visuals are probably the best part of the show, it's very well animated and it's far from being the worst that the franchise has. But it really isn't saying a lot considering the experience is just underwhelming to say the least. It has it's moments but it's not going to be one of the best things Terminator has ever had. It could've been worse but it could've been so much better as well. If you want to watch something Terminator films just stick with the first two films at least in my opinion. It's overall okay for me, the problem with it is that nothing stands out and nothing feels any different from how the past films of late tried to do things. I'll give Terminator Zero overall, a 6/10. |

I really enjoyed this myself, will go with the twists in the final episode. Of course this enjoyment will depend on how a Season 2 continues this story. Not only the revelations regarding Eiko and Kenta but what Kokoro will be doing now. Protecting humanity all well and good but hard to come back from slaughtering all those people from before. What will we get? "Oops, my bad"? Or will it be an AI dictatorship? Shall see. |

Well it was nice ovverall, but the ending is typical to Terminator series with unanswered question "So what was the point? What`s next?" |

Well, that was a non-ending. I'm guessing there will be a 2nd season. But since this is Netflix, they might quietly cancel it hoping no one would notice. Which would kinda suck. Cause even though I didn't like this series that much, I do want to see where the story goes from here. It's definitely no Devilman crybaby or Cyberpunk Edgerunners. But it's probably better than all the Terminator properties that came out recently. The ending was kinda weird and confusing. So, Eiko is actually Malcolm's mother? That came out of nowhere. I mean, there was no setup or foreshadowing or anything. Actually, Eiko wasn't even a good character. She was just bland and had no personality which sucks. Same goes for the Terminator. The bombshell about it being sent by future Kenta was something. But it didn't have any of the cool factor of any of the Terminators from the first 3 movies which sucks. I think it's mainly because the series barely focused on the Terminator and the resistance member who came from the future Eiko. It seemed more focused on Kokoro and Misaki. Which wasn't that bad but I wish it focused on Eiko and the Terminator a bit more. The kids were kinda annoying. Only Reika felt like a character. Just barely. Kenta was just an annoying kid which Ig is foreshadowing for his future self and Hiro was just there. It seemed like he was made only so he'd hold back Kenta from killing Misaki. I liked Malcolm a bit by the end but I think the characters in this series were weak in general which sucks. Overall, this wasn't a bad series. But it wasn't good either. I loved the animation (besides the CGI) and the music. But the story could've been better. If they make a 2nd season I hope it'll be good. |

First of all I am a huge Terminator fan and second the story of this anime was ok, but the subtitles were very rough. I tried to use the Japenese version as well but it was worse than the dubbed version. Kids were kind of annoying, but I guess that's something I would have to accept in the future if I want to ever have kids. The dad of the year was very annoying. Great visuals, sometimes the pacing was fast and sometimes slow. It was very hard for me to even finish it, because I was getting annoyed at some episodes and subtitles. Never would have guessed that the lady who went back in time is actually their grandma. I was shocked to find out. I had some ideas that Malcolm was a time traveller and that he built Misaki. If this ever gets a season two I don't think I am going to watch it, but if I do I'll watch it from day one, because I was a bit late for this one and I was getting very jaded by it. Glad it's over. This is just my honest opinion after binging. |
