Damn, that headbutt is going to leave a mark.

Umemiya was fighting for freedom but this episode showed that it's not easy as it looks. Chouji seems much more happier in the conclusion of this fight and seems to understand what being a leader is about for the gang. Seems ths episode gave both characters a chance to rediscover themselves. One of the more important fights this season.

Trust me, but you can be free even WITHOUT DOING cool backflips, throwing punches and dropping “supposed-to-be” uber cool punchlines, but no, then what of this show would even remain relevant lol. Short guy was suffering.. from something, can’t exactly say what, might be his symptoms coming back, so in a way I feel sorry for him as Umemiya isn’t exactly a psychiatrist. Though he still managed to tame him.. unbeatable rizz after all:)

Still not sure how this would justify short guy beating his own people just because they too didn’t have a screw loose like him, but I guess we’re supposed to feel he somehow suffered and at the same time be sorry for him. People weren’t his equals, so it’s their fault and that is contributing to suffering. Nice.

It's time for the long-awaited showdown.

The showdown between Umemiya and Tomiyama has finally begun. Tomiyama believes that by defeating Umemiya, he can gain both Fuurin and freedom, becoming happier than anyone else. With this momentum, he launches a series of swift attacks on Umemiya without pause, but fails to inflict any damage. Umemiya points out that Tomiyama's punches are weak because he has nothing to fight for, a remark that Tomiyama cannot comprehend, causing him to become increasingly agitated. As he takes a powerful blow from Umemiya, he recalls the joyful faces of the Shishitoren gang members laughing together.

At that moment, Umemiya reflects that his fist was much heavier back then, much more so than at that present moment. He recalls how radiant he appeared back then, far more than now. And Tomiyama seemed to enjoy himself much more back then, far more than now. Umemiya questions who surrounded Tomiyama back then, what he could see in their eyes. As Umemiya approaches, Tomiyama retreats in fear. However, Umemiya extends his hand towards Tomiyama's face, insisting that he needs to remember what he saw back then, what is essential for him and for the leader of Shishitoren. With a headbutt, Umemiya jolts Tomiyama's memory. As Tomiyama is knocked out, he officially loses the match, realizing what he had forgotten.

Yeah, it followed a pretty typical trope, especially for shounen. But, hey, at least the fight was incredible.

It was a great episode overall! but the emotional stuff took slightly too long. At some point I was like, yeah okay I get it, now tell me, how are you gonna fix yourself boy?

I've been refraining from saying this but Choji's like the we have Mikey at home version.

Anyway as expected Umemiya defeated him and brought him back to normal. Couldn't care less about that and won't make me like Choji but my man Umemiya's a literal wall and his hits were heavy unlike Choji's.

Done with this arc, now show me more Kotoha chan to wrap up the season.

Lil bro ended up having an absolute fit. Thank god Ume was able to slap some sense back into Tomiyama with some real fists.

there is 0 possible way that when the little guy chomped on umemiyas neck it wasn’t fatal 😭 cut to a mid range shot and the animation makes it look like he just got grazed when up close he was teeth deep in his neck ⁉️⁉️⁉️

We ended the final fight and it was decent. Also, we got to see Tomiyama's backstory and how empty he felt all this time. But, he lost and our team won and that's what matters. Ngl, didn't feel anything at all, but the music was beautiful and it was doing its job.

They're friends now. So, that's good. Hopefully, we can now move towards better things than just trivial fights among each other.

I love that Choji tried to hand over Shishitoren so solemnly and Umemiya was just like “Oh please no. I have so many adopted children already, seriously, please, I can’t take any more kids.” 😂
He’s just a single mom who works two jobs and lives his kids and never stops!

I guess the journey to achieve his goals were worth more to Choji than the end result. It was more fun that way. Umemiya really let Choji get it all off his chest. I love that he doesn’t just want to win the fight, he wants to understand what makes his opponent tick, and even empathizes with them. The amount of patience he has is incredible. I doubt anyone could confront Choji like Umemiya.
It’s no wonder everyone follows him at Bofurin. He doesn’t just fight his opponents, he saves them. Umemiya has my respect.

Bruh who the hell bites people in the middle of the fight

Anyways, Talk no Jutsu was efficient everybody!! I wanted Umemiya to beat him up but he's not the type of person to do that it seems.

What Tomiyama needed was a big brother and Ume had real big brother energy with the talk no jutsu. I guess Furin and Shishitoren are allies now that the fight is over. I'm wondering how much the anime is going with four episodes left.

Tomyama your punches are too light because you're too freaking light, that's the main reason lol

I really want to like this series, I mean the characters aren't all so bad but man they are so overdramatic, I don't like to see backstories of every single character, come on it's not 2007

If they focus a bit more on fighting and fighting techniques or be more unpredictable with the plot, things would be much more interesting...

Fanon recap: Umemiya nailed the talk no jutsu and Choji finally found the one piece inside him.
My recap: I bet Ume-chan tastes good with vegetables, but CHOMPji is clearly more of a raw meat type.
Objective recap: Beautiful oniric sequences and delightfully sappy drama were the main picture, the fight was just a frame.

Yeah can relate with the kid, my life's an empty desert too, especially when waiting a week for each episode.

@akixangel
Given your name I get you are disappointed by the aforementioned lack of yaoi in a shounen? Don't worry, plenty of fan works are coming desu~

Umemiya beating some sense into Choji! Their fight finally getting in full swing as the grand finale of this meet up. Both fighters exchanging blows back and forth, but Choji doesn't have any weight behind his punches. Umemiya able to break through and make Choji see reason again. See how he's mistreated Shishitoren and it's members. Choji basically snapping at the start of the fight was wild to see. Not understanding anything anymore he's been down this path for so long its all blank. Umemiya knows that Choji is in pain, its very sweet to see Umemiya trying to break through. Its evident to him that Choji needs support not just to be beaten to a pulp. That's not going to fix things in the long run, it would only drive Choji deeper into his pit. Forcing him to reflect on his actions and see the harm he's done to Shishitoren. Choji seeing how everyone around him has changed has set his kind straight now. They used to all smile together but now no one does, Choji thought getting to the top would be the ultimate freedom. Upon reaching it what's there is only emptiness, Choji lashing out at the other members to try and justify his own feelings. When he should've tried to make everyone happy. Choji realizing that he was truly happy just being next to them instead of above. Umemiya rejecting taking over Shishitoren was funny. Now they can just be friends instead.

Yea with this episode its clear this anime is not for me. Very weak delinquent story if we're being honest, I thought this could be better than Tokyo revengers but its kinda dumb. Why are they trying to make us sympathize with every single character? This final fight was absolutely terrible

It seems like this anime is trying to show us the difference between a group that fight for each other like family and a group that selfishly fights for themselves instead of each other.

These were all good fights and were animated well.

I have enjoyed each episode.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

This episode was really good, looking forward to see more WindBreaker and Shishitoren interaction.

@akixangel If you see similar shows or movies (Gokusen,Crows Zero) is completly normal that the boys are fighting without adults around.
That is the point of these "gang" shows. To show tjat they can be good boys with true values, despite their flaws.

See this is exactly how this sort of arc should end! Instead of just doing a traditional shonen slug fest between Choji and Umemiya, Umemiya realises the key to winning snd ultimately saving Shishtoren is to make Choji realise where he lost his path. Even though Shishtoren have been on a warpath as of late, they overall serve a positive purpose and having both them and Bofurin around is big for the city.

Yea the reason for Choji snapping may not have been the strongest, but I just appreciated seeing it worked thru and solved rather than just someone being beat to death and moving onto the next arc ala TR.

I think everyone hypes up the animation in the series and for good reason, it is great, but the OST especially during Choji and Kame’s meeting of the minds was so beautiful. Gives me chills and just heightens those emotional moments
