Why tf is the art style so ugly??

The manga’s character designs are slightly different and I think better than the anime, but I never really had a problem with the designs, I’ve always liked them personally. So can’t answer the “why’re they ugly” question, but they do differ slightly from the original, as do most character designs from manga to anime.

Golden kamuy author is to me one of the greatest drawing artists out there, I love his art style, and even though may consider them ugly, you can't say the same about his scenarios in the manga, which are gorgeous

Very subjective. I personally love it and its one of my favourite anime art styles, the male characters look the perfect line between realistically drawn and anime drawn with that additional slight Part 1-3 jojos vibe

The CGI bear and the animation quality is standard. I can understand where they coming from. Its not ugly in my opinion, but there isn’t anything that stands out in the animation. Just does its job

Agreed, the animation in season 1 seems to be what turned so many people off from the series, it didn’t do the manga the most justice as far as art goes. Asirpa’s big ass forehead at times was indeed an odd site at times lol. It has continued to improve every season tho, which is great to see.

i feel like art style is the wrong word. I'm watching now and just the way they're drawn bothers me. Their faces look weird idk how to explain it. Like they all look lifeless in the face. Not all but most of them do. Like most of them deadass look like this 😐 not even kidding.

Ya I get what you mean. Thats what I was getting at how it just feels standard. Cause it does its job to get the story moving but the animation isnt great. Its like they took the character models and never change their faces

The art style is just normal. I don't know what you are talking about.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

You’ve watched plenty of anime tbh, so I think you should start getting used to different art styles. I don’t see anything wrong with this art style. It’s actually good because it differs from tye generic isekai/comedy/mow art style.

Agreed, it feels like a suck it up, buttercup kinda thing.
I personally enjoy the art style, like most others have said. For me, something about the sheer girth of the lines is satisfying, but overallit feels unique enough that I can actually picture the characters in my head, which I can't say for many shows out there. I also really like the elements of each characters' design, so I would say the appeal for me is a lot about what's drawn rather than how it's drawn.

Look the characters have the right number of eyeballs and there aren't random lines missing or duplicated, it's fine.
