Hello! My name is Tomi. I am 23 years old and I study biotechnology in Tirana, Albania. I started to watch anime frequently 8-9 years ago when I was in the eighth grade. My first anime were Dragon Ball Z (I used to watch it when I was kid tho but nvm), Lupin the Third, Zenki, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Detective Conan. Since then I wasn't very interested in anime cuz I thought that all of them were pretty much the same (like the Marvel movies). But guess what? I was wrong. During the eighth grade, a friend recommended me to watch Tokyo Ghoul. I was very intrigued by the title tbh and I decided to watch it. It was pretty good. Then I found out about Attack on Titan, Death Note, Death Parade, Erased, Future Diary and etc and etc. My favorite genre was thriller, action, and fantasy combined together. I had watched 30 or 35 anime within one year or two. When I finished my first year in High-School, my mentality started to change and I stopped watching anime for nearly 2 years. It was a huge change. I was dedicated to tv series, and movies (what normal people watch).
Then the Pandemic came. I was pretty bored ngl and I decided to give anime a second chance. I'm so glad about this decision. Anime changed my view on life. It made me a better person. I know that it's pretty unrealistic, but who cares after all. This is the reason why I love it, to escape from my mundane life.
Well, that was my take on anime. I'm a pretty chill guy. I don't like comparing shows with each other cuz I think it's pointless. Just enjoy it for f***s sake.

It's either a mass amnesia or reincarnation ending which are the biggest cop-outs in storytelling. Both of them basically ruin the story since it both resets the character development they've gone through and absolves them of any questionable actions they've done since they no longer have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Kinda reminds me of Lain ending, which is the only part I think was forced but other than that still very good anyways.
You have to take responsibilty for your action. You can't run away from them. You can't wish for clean slate of past but try to overcome present's difficult for better future- This was one of main messages of OG series.
I'd say Sadamoto (manga writer) just didn't understand the characters as well as Anno (anime writer) did. Their depiction in the manga is clearly much less multifaceted across the board (I suppose you can understand that it ties into the psychological themes aspect) being your average shonen characters here until the end. The ending is really bad imo and it screwed any character development it had. The narrative is annoyingly flat, spoon-feeding you with info dumps and leaving nothing up to interpretation unlike the anime, which makes the manga very generic overall. Like Rebuilds movies, I don't see how it is objectively better at all? They don't have the same story/themes or messages the OG series strongly has, nor even characters, yet still they fail at what they try to be.
I suggest you to read No. 5, very underrated Manga and best work from Matsumoto Taiyo (Ping Pong/Tekkon Kinkreet).
BTW Happy birthday❗
How are you
