All I'm thinking about is how I'm not ready for thew emotional rollercoaster that's about to come. Everything fictional related to my childhood ends with this special.

I guess it was to be expected Ash would be leaving after becoming a World Champion.
The best route the new anime could go is this:
- At least a 10 year time skip
- New protagonist's goal to defeat Ash
- Ash to make cameos or even be present in some episodes, arcs, just like Leon, Cynthia and others were
This way we, the old fans who were following ash for over 20 years, get a proper closure and see how the world is affected by his previous actions and accomplishments.
I was not ready to put away my childhood yet, but I guess it is finally time...
Thank you Ash, thank you Pikachu.

I think it’s gonna make me cry. I already teared up a little when I saw the announcement this morning.

Sounds a little silly I guess, but I mean… this is my childhood. Been watching Ash and Pikachu since I was 9.

So yeah. This is gonna hurt.

Depends how they go with it. Pokemon is in a much different position, then it was years ago, and with how the current direction is. Anything is possible.I can see Ash's series being a big fun,and thank you, while the new MCs, will just be alright for starters. Nothing too special.

I'm in a state of grieve. The first Pokémon episode was aired for the first time in my country in 1999 and I have been watching this anime ever since. Ash has always been there and now.... he won't.

I'm curious and excited to watch the new anime though and I'm sure the 11 episode special will break my heart

well, what i thought at first was that she might be some random kid who saw ash on the tv and got inspired to be a pokemon trainer, as that would bring ash's story full circle. from being inspired to inspiring others.

lets see what happens

edit: character description for riko is that shes from kanto and that she wants no one to know her full name.
that's pretty much saying she is ash's daughter

Making a 10-year time skip would be extremely risky from a writer's perspective.
What if the audience doesn't respond well to the new protagonists (which is a strong possibility in case they make them a Mary Sue and a Gary Stu)?
I feel like not mentioning Ash unless it's absolutely necessary (low viewership) might be the best path for this, so that they have Ash back as the main character in case this new cast doesn't work out.

If her father is Ash, and he is a World Champion, it makes sense that she'd want out of all the publicity.

Though I can see a conflict arc where that name gets out happening.

here's an opinion of someone who stopped watching pkmn at episode 300 or so:

- ash finally beats the pokemon league

- the 11 episode arc is basically nostalgia trip and ash's send off

- at the end he has to decide wether he'll keep training to become either:
a) gym leader
b) league master

- whatever option he choses we won't be following him anymore, so this is perfect for a timeskip.

- 10 year later or so, we follow the two protagonists in a new region to become pkmn masters (same old formula)

- the two protagonist just like ash fail a few times to beat the league masters (you can literally make like 5 or so seasons of this repeating over and over to follow the release of the future games)

- after a while, instead of the two mcs starting a new journey, they decide to go to Kanto Region

- the formula is basically the same, we follow them throught the opposite route of the first games. Instead of starting im Pallet Town, they can start at the Cinnabar island for instance and make the round trip all the way to Pallet where the legendary pokemon master once lived.. This time there will be no pokemon league, only ash wating for them inside a cave.

- the series can finally end here. Ash's arc will be complete so as the new protagonists'

I mean why not? A wrap up of an (Mostly) epic saga.

One last rodeo for Ash and Rica Matsumoto. About damn time he passed the torch

And hopefully, this 11 episodes could work better than Journeys. Journeys was a hella of a shitshow, people mainly watch it for the World Championship thingy and nostalgia helped it afloat. Goh is just a bad character writing and they butchered Galar.

This one last ride could probably relies on nostalgia also but eh, it's a farewell and throwback after all.

Could I finally get my pokeshipping ending? I need that so badly. Digimon tri just teased takari fans so it would be nice to see my other big childhood mon ship actually sale.

But honestly I'll say what I've always said. They should finally start adapting the pokemon adventure manga instead of continuing with this. The early Acuff is so good and it's such a fun take on the series. It deserves an anime adaptation after all these years

This

All good things must come to an end sadly and ash's journey was 1 that influenced so many of our childhoods. even as we grew up we were talking about how he will never be a pokemon master as long as pokemon games existed which was likely forever, but here we are
I'm still scared to face the fact that our little boy is really going to be the very best like no one ever was. a pokemon master whose journey will be forever in our hearts. hats off to u ash, u really did it
