Yup, this episode goes to show that Sarasa has not fully mastered control of magic. Not that it's easy or anything but would be a useful skill to have.

I do still admire her work ethnic though, and determination.

Sarasa still has a lot to learn, but I'm sure one day she'll become one of the best alchemists of all time. :)

These eyecathers are always so cute.

Iris is such a klutz. xD

Well a sombre episode but it was obvious something would go wrong during the transport phage after putting so much emphasis on the the fact that it could go wrong.
Iris is clumsy off course which was also part of it.
But the master dropping by was nice and we also got a insight into the past which was also nice to see.
The girls also learned a few things and Sarasa still has some learning to do for her job.

Of course that had to happen with clumsy Iris around, but it was nice to learn a bit about Sarasas past and she sure still has a lot to learn.

Back from the somewhat supposed beach episode that was fun, Sarasa's pendant is the only casualty to repair for losing its chain.

Given how back then, the young 10-year-old orphan self being so enthusiastic in her younger days looking for part-time work, getting the acknowledgement of her now-Master Ophelia Millis is a test of her skills in practicality, not just applied through theory. And she learned this the hard way when she was asked to display her magic power, only to have it go out of control with her abnormality, though that's both a strength and threat as well. Working hard to repay those who have helped her get to where she was, the pendant artifact given from Ophelia is essentially not just a limiter to her OP powers, but an artifact of bond. Being an alchemist is never easy: studies and hard work, plus persistence and perseverance, which Sarasa has.

Having ligarex meat to be sent over to Ophelia through a magic portal, that's also a first for Sarasa, so there's no telling that it would turn out good or bad. But in a stroke of bad luck, Iris's carelessness led to her pendant also being transferred along to Ophelia, which caused the magic transfer circle to go almost go haywire. It's not like Sarasa can't go without the pendant, it's just that now she has to be careful when using her magical powers. Ophelia being reminded of why she took Sarasa in as her apprentice on her way to becoming an alchemist, it's all fate.

Needless to say, Sarasa without the pendant is a walking disaster, and whatever she does, it's not working out. And Ophelia's surprise visit to return the pendant and repair the transfer circle, plus re-account young Sarasa's memories, it's the case of "like master, like apprentice".

A good shop, with friends, Sarasa's living the life that she has dreamed of. Now transform that into something better.

I just noticed how short Sarasa still is compared to Ophelia. Has she not grown in height since she was 10? She's supposed to be 14 now, right?

Classic anime moment - MC goes out the door and walks right into the boobs.

This anime really isn't very popular, is it? These threads don't get much discussion and episode 7 has only 3 comments on the streaming site I use. Everything went downhill with this show since Sarasa's capitalist speech in episode 3 or whichever it was. As a huge Atelier fan, I'm disappointed thinking of what this show could have been. Hopefully the next few episodes will pick back up and get a little more interesting.

The OP song is one of my favorites of this season, though. Kitto alright nayamu wa go-sign, kichin to yarimashou! 🎵

Really cute episode. Sarasa treasures her relationship with shichou a lot and I’m glad everything worked out with the pendant. Was nice to finally learn about her past too and how they met. Not quite as good as the beach episode but a good one nonetheless

This episode had a flashback on how Sarasa met Ophelia and received the pendant that restricts her magic power. Of course it would be Iris that botched the portal transfer but in her defense she was backing up more only to slip and at least she didn't fall into the portal thanks to Sarasa. It looks like the pendant was the cause of the portal breaking down which ended up causing Ophelia to pay Sarasa a visit. While Ophelia was there it was nice to see her reaction to the girls being so concerned over the portal being broken and saying that Sarasa has a good shop.

Side note, I wonder if we'll get any more closure with the bandits that murdered Sarasa's parents as that's been in the back of my mind since the first episode and it was briefly mentioned here when Sarasa gave Ophelia some background information on herself as to why she had to become an alchemist.

I enjoyed the flashback in this one, it definitely helps give more context to Sarasa and Ophelia’s relationship and why Sarasa was acting the way she did this episode after the transportation thingy broke. I gotta say the way it broke tho was hilarious, Iris slipping on residue leftover from those tentacles and Sarasa having to save her gave me a laugh, that paired with Iris’ puppydog face was great.

Thankfully Ophelia does the right thing and comes to Sarasa’s aid, because it was apparent Sarasa didn’t want to depend on Ophelia but actually needed the help. I’m glad things ended wholesomely, I wouldn’t want to leave it on a sad Sarasa.

Sad that a little capitalism is enough to keep people away from a good show. Jokes aside, I think it’s just because it’s a CGDCT show and in the same season as one of the pinnacles of the genre, being “Do it Yourself!!”, from my time watching anime this genre generally doesn’t get that much attention outside of us cultured folk.

really fortunate for Sarasa to have met her teacher. Would have been impossible to become an alchemist without that pendant.

well, she could just take off the artifact if she needs to beat down someone strong. lol

Maybe the broken pendant, which is a magic item itself, interfered with the circle or Sarasa poured too much magic into the activation spell.

probably, but what im confused is why they left it implied instead of just give a actual reason LOL

A bittersweet reunion with Sarasa's Master and a background story of how Sarasa and her Master met. That was adorably inspiring! I really love this episode. (I disappointingly forgot to watch this last week... .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.)
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

"Explain properly how the chain broke"... just say the truth? it broke cause a little animal accidentally tug on it while you're casting and it broke?

___ ___ ___

And turns out Sasara is a natural genius gifted with massive amount of magic power. So much that the Master made her the pendant to keep her power in balance.

The Master is really nice, best teacher ever. Sarasa on the other hand... initially just wanted to use the part time as a foot-stool to get rich.

"no cases of Live creature being transferred" (I am pretty sure the Bloodsucker is dead... LOL, I think Sarasa means "Biological"? but loads of Alchemy contain Biological ingredients in it...)

And the pendant gets send off cause some how... Iris slips... WHY... why are you moving around during the casting? Sarasa literally said to be careful...

"Even if Master gets the pendant, it would take a month for it to get here"... Did Sarasa forget the beginning of the series where Master literally ran from Capital to the Village in 3 days? LOL, And judging by the Flashback, Master made that Pendant in just a few days... (and all she need to repair is the chain, the crystal itself is undamaged)

___ ___ ___

Huh, interesting... Sarasa never learned how to control her power, she's literally dependent on the Pendant to do anything... Master should have try and teach her how to control her Magic instead of just having her be dependent on the Pendant... Imagine what would happen if she actually lost the Pendant and the Master isn't there to help...

Also, Sarasa going back and forth between the Ideals huh,

At first she wanted to be an Alchemist back at the Orphanage cause she wants to make Rich Money,

then during training under Master, she wants to open a shop and see people smile,

but at the start of the series, she was literally thinking about money and charging Iris for it (which Iris has to end up working for Sarasa to repaid her debt)

___ ___ ___

It was a nice moment between Sarasa and Master tho, you can tell that the Master really cherish Sarasa.

i thought this was a really nice episode; it was nice to see the flashbacks and the relationship with ophelia. in a way it felt like nothing much happened of consequence but the dynamics of their relationships were well fleshed out so it was enjoyable.
