The official website of the Osomatsu-san (Mr. Osomatsu) anime series announced a third season on Monday. The new season will begin airing on TV Tokyo in October 2020. The website also revealed a teaser visual (pictured above) and an announcement video.

Synopsis
The majority of the Matsuno household consists of six identical siblings: self-centered leader Osomatsu, manly Karamatsu, voice of reason Choromatsu, cynical Ichimatsu, hyperactive Juushimatsu, and lovable Todomatsu. Despite each one of them being over the age of 20, they are incredibly lazy and have absolutely no motivation to get a job, choosing to live as NEETs instead. In the rare occurrence that they try to look for employment and are somehow able to land an interview, their unique personalities generally lead to their swift rejection.

From trying to pick up girlfriends to finding the perfect job, the daily activities of the Matsuno brothers are never dull as they go on all sorts of crazy, and often downright bizarre, adventures. Though they desperately search for a way to improve their social standing, it won't be possible if they can't survive the various challenges that come with being sextuplets! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The production staff and cast are returning at Studio Pierrot from the previous anime seasons. Eiji Abiko (Juushinki Pandora) is replacing Naoyuki Asano (Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!) as the character designer.

Based on Fujio Akatsuka's original comedy shounen manga, Osomatsu-san commemorated the author's 80th anniversary with its first anime series in Fall 2015. A second season followed in Fall 2017, and a side story anime film opened in Japan on March 15 last year (pictured right).

VIZ Media acquired the digital streaming, home video, and merchandise rights for the anime seasons in North America. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime season and is also streaming the anime film.

Talk about a great refresh after the “Ultimate Anime Weekebd”, lol. Really enjoyed how they blended in the real life interviews into the PV.

Personally, I’ve yet to watch anything from the franchise thus far but I’ve been wanting to for a while. Hopefully, as such, here’s to hoping I’ll be able to give this a shot in preparation to the 3rd Season.

Hopefully, there’ll be 25 episodes this time around too. Gives me the opportunity to catch up in, say December/January, and I’m sure fans would’ve no issues with this whatsoever.

A bit surprising, considering how the second season BDs sold only 15% of what the first season sold. But even with that humongous drop in sales, S2 was still one of the highest-selling anime of that year (I guess that just shows the ridiculously high sales the first season was able to achieve). That being said, I do hope the new season's better than the last. S2 was pretty inconsistent with its humor. Nevertheless, I'm glad that this series is still continuing.

what

WHAT

I did not expect this, but I'm hyped! Not gonna lie I thought the second season was weaker than the first (though I still enjoyed it a lot), hopefully the third one is closer to the first seasons quality. Excited to see my favorite NEETs again.

I actually haven't watched season 2 yet, afraid it wouldn't live up to season 1.

Airing only 3 months after the announcement, I've never seen that before. I only watched the first episode so I guess I'll have a good reason to continue now.

Sooo happy this is happening
I enjoyed season 2 just as much as season 1 cause it had some of the best episodes of the whole show in it. Although if you try to see it objectively I guess season 1 is more comprehensible? I don't know, this show is not known for being consistent, but for being utter insanity! I'm soo excited and happy, cause they took a while after the movie where it seemed like they would not make a third season ever so this comes out of nowhere ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Your comment doesn't make sense, it was disappointing you said, but more is good?
And if MORE ends up being just as disappointing, would you want "more" still?

I mean in general yeah. For Osomatsu-San it's even more likely considering it's just different skits so the quality ranges. It's definitely not as good as S1 but I still liked it, so yeah, more is always good (especially if they have various writers now compared to S2's 1 guy).

AHAHAHAHA I've just started watching the second season and was literally just before visiting MAL reading articles speculating it's popularity and remembering how massive this series got. I can't believe this is the first news I see and that this is getting a 3rd season, catching lightning in a bottle my ass- good on you Matsuno brothers! I wish the 3rd season all the success in the world! Ah, I couldn't stop laughing. Maybe it's time to rewatch season 1 too!
No watch list sig cuz "You watch anime in 3 days or 3 months! Such is the proper way!"
