THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Yup, as expected...the investigators decided to dig into the past of Magase during their case. Luckily, her uncle is willing to spill the truth.

It almost sounds unbelievable but then again, I remember this series can being a bit surreal at times with its cases.

Damn bitch is killing innocent men like that. Really want her to meet her maker. Fuck that bitch. (Imagine there outrage if it was a man doing this to women. I feel bad for the men, dying in some sick game)
Although a pretty interesting villain.

Also seizaki losing in kendo was a bit funny
Assistant wasn't Magase Ai after all

Who was the guy that died at the end of the episode? A certain Tsutsui? At least, short exposure in this episode is needed before he was killed. Lame rendering.

Magase is slightly starting to remind me of Johan from Monster; probably in regard to the position of "most evil" in a series. Not to mention, that she gave off that whole haunting vibe... or one that makes you feel like something small in front of prey.

Man, it almost sounds like she has the superpower to make anyone aroused just by body language, or worse; the ability to manipulate anyone with ease and no ability to remotely resist it.

I can see why it would be considered "rape" by people. Just placing yourself in the same position is frightening to the point of questioning your own mind. That reminds me of the interrogation our boy did, and that back then he almost went insane by the end.

She's certainly a good villain, at least by this episode.
(By the end, I'm hoping she'll get shot, but I bet she'll commit suicide to end it on HER terms, and that in itself would be sad.)
"You know you've reached peak quality when a doujin is better than the actual source series." (Eg. To LOVE-Ru)

Just to list a couple of biases.
Likes: A good story, characters, writing, romance, a good plot twist or something that breaks expectations (In a good way), 'backstory' and justice.
Dislikes: Bad romance, too much fanservice, the harem genre, yuri, yaoi, and bad writing.

Oh my god, yes. When they questioned the uncle, I completely got Monster vibes from the interrogation as well with her being problematic from an early age, her being charming and making people do things against their will etc. And yes, don't forget the adoption trope, it's always the adopted child that's messed up.

Damn, Ai Magase. I cannot believe about her past. She's perfect for psychological warfare imo. She's a harborer of evil and is capable of giving sexual tendencies to her fellow students and even to her own uncle.

Quite an interesting character. Looking forward to the next episode.

Cool episode! Noticed a few slip-ups in the animation quality but hopefully that will not saturate in the coming weeks.

Intriguing, and horrifying at the same time, backstory for Ai Magase there. "Raping", now that's one way of putting it. I really love the Directing during these interrogation scenes, it feels like a ride into an abyss or so.

Nice that we got a little bit of kendo for a short breather and change of pace. I'd a feeling the Assistant would be good but certainly not fourth-dan level, way to go.

Such impeccable timing from Ai Magase, on another note. Just when Investigator Seizaki managed to rile up the other investigators, yikes. I could tell something was coming when that dope music started playing but it still caught me off-guard somehow, awesome stuff!

Another suicide victim, that smile on his face indicates a similar condition as the previous victims, so I'm curious to see how the investigator team will respond to this. Looks like the Assistant is clear of not being Ai Magase at the very least but I've feeling there's more to her than that catches the eye.

It's been a heck of a ride so far! Hoping to see this level of quality retain through the course of the second half!

Wow, this anime is so underrated! *lol* Really grateful that I stumbled the PV of this gem on YouTube several weeks ago.
Now I'm curious at how well would I fare if I were to encounter someone like Ai Magase in real life. 🤔
Props to her voice actress and the animators, they have been doing a great job that I feel enchanted.

Ahh Magase Ai what a fearsome woman, that sex appeal, that dominating aura and that all without even forcing to do so; truly diabolic. She's already seeming to be a Makshima Shougo tier evangelist.

Well got to know the past of Ai Magase by that doctor ,she can seduce anyone just by looking at her.
Now that I think about is it Itsuki using Ai to achieve his goal or she is using itsuki for Ulterior motive.
And yeah I knew something was going to happen when investigators started working and that theme started playing (also like end of 3rd episode)
and that talk of seizaki and Ai exhilarating

Another great episode. Really enjoyed the insight into Magases past and mind. Her portrayal so far is fairly grounded and a nice change of pace in comparison to other psychopaths.

And here's me hoping that we will be able to witness the open debate with some juicy arguments.

This is getting too predictable imo. I knew the investigator guy was gonna get killed. Why was he not warned about what happened to the previous people who interacted with Magase? Also, why is Seizaki so incompetent? Why doesn’t he just check the camera footage from the interrogation room to know exactly how Ai hypnotized the guard guy that killed himself too? This would make things more clear for everyone.

"What is justice to you?"

Famous last words. Pretty obvious that the Assistant girl will die at some point.

Technically, we don't know yet whether it was murder or assisting suicide.
Her persuasion skills can be so high, so she simply convinces people to kill themselves.

Anyway, I nominate Magase for the title of the best villain of 2019.
Very intriguing character.

The dialogue was pretty much on point here, I felt like Ai's evil yet seducive aura carried through in the one dude that Seizaki interviewed, it sent chills down me and really kept me on my toes. In addition, Itsuki is a great opponent as not only is he unpredictable (I couldn't have seen that public debate coming from a mile away), he is also making it very hard for Seizaki to chase him. I'm convinced this show will be a hidden gem (unless the quality significantly reduces later which could always happen).

I mean, the uncle dude was also mesmerized (albeit not to the point of suicide) yet he could barely put what happened into words. idk if camera footage would've helped deduce Ai's abilities lol, though we'd need to wait to confirm that. Also, Magase seems pretty good at hiding her identity (at least from what we've seen so far) so even if that inspector knew about the dangers, he probably wouldn't have been able to avoid her that much

Man Magase is really fucked up. I definitely agree with the Johan comparisons. Her level of manipulation almost seems more supernatural tho. Especially the instant arousal thing. I mean that just makes no sense. It's not like Johan where his words are what sway you. I don't think this show is actually supposed to have any mystical elements in it tho, so I just gotta bend my suspension of disbelieve.

What Magase's uncle had to say about her wasn't as interesting as it could have been. In fact I disliked it, it felt too one-sided. He talked about the effect she had on him, and on those boys, but pretty much nothing about her as a person. Seizaki also said she is a murderer, and she is clearly driving people to suicide somehow, even without as much as touching them, so she is an antagonist, but she sees herself as a hero of a RPG, and I kind of love it.

Can't wait to see what she is going to say, and do next. It would be sad, to say the least, to see her being reduced to the "bad kid" her uncle called her when she can be much more interesting than that. Seizaki's take on "justice" was interesting though, he had a better answer this time. And he wants to arrest her, and Itsuki even though the law can't touch them, at least not yet.
