I love that part of Grimmer as well. Him and Johan have pretty similar backstories when you think about it but then they end up taking completely different directions with how they end up as characters.
You probably have it planned already but if you like these kind of characters like Violet and Grimmer then I'm sure you will love Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Frieren is another one of those characters that starts off as very emotionless.

Yeah this definitely is one of the more unique animes out there. Its one of the few animes where I don't think there's any anime which you can say is similar to it. It honestly sometimes doesn't even feel like an anime.
Monster has so many amazing episodes. The one you mentioned is probably my favorite as well. Really like the episode in Prague where you get the Johan reveal and the whiskey bottle scene. But thats more so specific scenes than a whole episode like "The Magnificent Steiner" which is a masterpiece the whole 24 minutes. Also that episode is mostly Grimmer which was my 2nd favorite character in the anime. I wish he got a lot more screen time throughout I found him to be so interesting and likeable.

Nice to see that 10/10. It's definitely one of the best animes of all time. I do personally have a little bit issues keeping it from being a 10/10 for me but its honestly extremely minor nitpicks. I also find it harder to rank an anime where its this many episodes when most other animes are only 12-24 episodes. Some arcs are easy 10/10s for me like Prague and Munich. But then some of the arcs are kinda meh (in comparison they're still fantastic though) and I'm not a massive fan of the ending. It's definitely one of the animes my rating is the harshest with for some reason. I should probably be harsher with most ratings if I'm not going to give this a 10/10 lol.

The way they reintroduced him in that first episode in the arc was phenomenal I remember legit getting chills especially with how disconnected that episode felt at first I didn't really expect that to happen. The whiskey scene is so legendary that's when I really got hooked in the show and stayed hook until the final episode.
The world building is truly fantastic as well it makes the story feel so real. I've never been to any of the place in the anime in person but I wouldn't be surprised if those places felt the exact same as in Monster.
This is definitely one of the best cast of characters in any anime I've watched. So many memorable character and they all feel so real. Incredible development as well.

You seem to have even enjoyed the Episodic Arc (Ep9-24) a lot. Which personally I thought was the weakest arc in the whole show. Still really good though just less so in comparison to the other arcs.

Munich is straight fire for sure. It felt so nice to see Johan when we had barely seen him before that arc.
