THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Small sum-up after the site recovery, wasn't really feeling the whole season and was quite hyped for the continuation. Felt very rushed for a lot of scenes, the following of the story was decent/average, felt that it was the quite old type of plot. Always want to know the conlcusion for this story, it was one of the first that i watched and well was pretty dissapointed about the ending + i'm very skeptical that we might see this time the last season. The animation in the beginning was pretty/quite good, mentioned it couple of times, but closer to the end it was complete disaster, out of money probably. 5/10 =( |

The only thing I like about the last episode is when they played the first season ED song (Karenai Hana by Mikuni Shimokawa) when Chidori and Sousuke was talking over the radio as well as first season OP song (Tomorrow by Mikuni Shimokawa) used as the ending. That was a bit nostalgic and brought back memories when I first saw the anime more than a decade ago. Other than that, it was a complete disaster. There's not even an announcement for a 2nd cour. Makes me wonder, what if KyoAni is the one who animated Invisible Victory. I'm quite satisfied with their adaptation of TSR. |

I think they might make a movie or movies as a continuation instead of a second cour. I remember there was a talk about this before. |

Still 4 Volumes to adapt, so a minimum of two/three are essential. Best to have a cour season, with every 3 episodes dedicated to a Volume making exactly 12 Episodes! |

Seems like I’ll be in the minority here, but I really enjoyed this Season. Sure, many things could have been a lot better and I thought so, too, but it was still very good regardless. It’s very different from the other seasons, except for the Second Raid, as this dove right into the action, and I, for one, preferred this route. Last Epsiode felt very nostalgic especially when the Op of the First Season played, and that was pleasing! I’m hoping to see a Season 5 of this very soon! Expecting it to air sometime in 2019 with 12 Epsiodes! Please, make this happen! I just love this show and franchise! |

Namsac was ultimately of little consequence and Nami was wasted. Everything else was fine. Still loved seeing FMP after all these years, but this was the worst season; not the best of the story, and I know Xebec can do better on production. |

It was fine all in all. The big problem of the show is that it had to fit everything in those 12 episodes. It lacked the charm of the earlier seasons because nothing could breathe. That said I thought the mecha fights and action was well done. Actually thought it ended fairly well because it was pure action. I think it' above average compared to a lot of poor anime in the last few seasons. Medciore though is probably a fair description all in all. Do hope there's a final season. |

Hell, it's the gold standard for most any anime. It had flawless OVA-quality animation despite being a 12-episode TV series, the plot was tight and intense, the protagonists were all put in situations that really tested their character in ways that had never been done before; it was just a fantastic adaptation in every way. This season wasn't the disaster it could have been, but still a disappointment by FMP standards. In fact I would say it is easily the weakest season of FMP yet. For what should have been an epic comeback after a 12+ year hiatus, instead it was just OK; barely passable. The CG mechs were a mistake (though a predictable decision with current industry trends), and the animation got really slapdash through the middling parts of the season, even putting aside the bad 3DCG. Its only saving grace was that it mostly stuck to the source material which helped keep the storytelling solid even if the animation was frequently disappointing. The last 2 episodes almost redeemed it for how much it felt like it came back to old-school FMP fun. But there was just too much of a long stretch in the middle with incredibly shoddy animation that ruined most of the action. And in the season that is the most action-focused yet, it really does drag down the whole experience. |

I'd have to say this was the most exciting season yet. Compared to s1's boring story arcs that were mostly self-contained, and the rather slow and more character focused TSR, this one had the fast paced action packed story of them all. Things happen, they happen fast and you don't have much time to register them, much like the trials and tribulations Sousuke goes through. You don't get much time to breathe and relax and I think it's intentional based on the seriousness of the story. The entire story has now flipped on its head and the consequences are more real than ever. I think the author himself writing the scripts really comes through as a strength here with the tight pacing and great adherence to the key points of the novels. It's a faithful adaptation through and through. While 2D mecha is a rarity nowadays I have to say I'm quite satsified with the CG mecha. It is above average and better than majority of 3DCG mecha out there. They are really well done. Very crisp, smooth, and detailed. Moreso than any of the previous 2D mecha designs. They don't move at a choppy rate but rather fluidly. Only complaints is at times the weight seems off and sometimes they move a bit slow. The fights are well done and choreography and camera work is solid. The 2D animation was probably the weakest part being inconsistent. At times it was pretty good, other times it was ok, and other times it was terrible like episode 10. I wish more time and effort had been spent on the 2D animation like it had been on the great CG. Xebec simply needed more time to animate from what seemed to be a production that was behind schedule. Despite that, this season was a step up from the first two when it comes to the story primarily. It was simply a more interesting story with higher stakes and real consequences. The characters all go through some setbacks and challenges, Sousuke especially. My god One Man Force (Episode 8) was a godlike episode and probably the best FMP episode ever made. So many raw and powerful emotions as Sousuke simply does what he does for love. I am confident season 5 will come soon they have hinted at for sure. When the time comes hopefully the production will be better organized so everything will be a bit more consistent. Other than that solid 8/10. Had the animation been consistent and high quality like the first arc probably would have been higher and close to 10/10. |

I'm just going to pretend this season doesn't exist. I feel a bit foolish now about getting excited back when news emerged about more Full Metal Panic after all these years. I could only spot glimpses of what made the previous seasons so entertaining, and those were never fully realized in this one. I thought Sousuke and Chidori had a bond? The bits of that amounted to maybe 3 minutes of content in the final episode. And they had the nerve to do recap episodes... The mechs still looked good, but this just wasn't enough when you have big ass shoes to fill. Don't come back, FMP. You're better off being remembered how you were back in the day. 3/10 |

Everything this season was mostly how it went down in the original light novel/sigma manga which have been completed for years now. I can understand why some people don't like it (lack of comedy, no Chidori/Sousuke chemistry, too serious, etc). It was always going to be this way for a long time now, it doesn't matter even if KyoAni would adapt it. But there are a fair amount of people who don't like how things go down after TSR. Meh, to each his own. |

Have to disagree with everyone here on that matter, what a worthy successor to TSR! I dont think the CG for mechs was a problem, it didnt bother me, and aside that episode 10 animation failure, animation across the season was SOLID, reaching some really high moments! The characters were also great, and I loved the plot all the way, there was never a dull moment, it was IMO as intense as The Second Raid. 8.8/10 = 9 |

It felt like what I think FMP should feel like; I don't remember watching the original for the mech fights. We got our Shimokawa Mikuni theme! Granted, it's definitely nothing new, but I'm going to count it anyway. Not having a theme by her was one of the minor complaints I had about the series, but after hearing the themes at the end, I justified it to myself by saying that Mithril wasn't around, so it was okay to have someone else do the themes for a change of mood. That said, I don't expect them to ask her to make the theme for the next installment. |

That was a fun ride. Its a little hard to believe it's been 13 years since the last sequel. I never thought there would be sequel, until leaks were spread and fans were excited. But now, here were are. It was enjoyable. A fun ride. If there's complain about, it would be the recaps, and Nami. They wasted her, and it was sad. She was really cute thou. But seeing Tessa made me feel better. Sadly, she seem to have losed the fight in the romantic side. How I wish Sousuke ends up with both of them. But that's just a dream. |

Really enjoyed this season, complainers can be ignored. My only real complaint is that the humor that made the previous seasons was largely absent for a much more serious tone. Chidori x Souske interactions are a must! Been a bit since I read the manga but I guess this could be finished off i one more season so as long as this was at least moderately successful we'll get a conclusion.... right? *hopes* |

I enjoyed this season. Been years since I watched the prequels but this one felt like it was more romance oriented. Still cute to watch, action was great and Tessa kicking a** when needs to, lol. Lots of nostalgia when the S1 OP/ED played too. Used to keep re-watching that OP and it's a great song with great lyrics. I think this is the first short series that actually had to do a recap episode... Xebec must have been really tight on time or budget to do one in a 12 episode season. |

Forgot to watch the last 2 episodes........ anyways here we are I for one thought this season was great! I praised the animation so much but looks like they couldn't keep it up until the end, the first few episodes were beautiful! But they last couple was more of the bad 3D animation I'm used to, oh well at least we saw what can be accomplished 3D, given enough time and money. The story was also really good and they introduced a great bunch of characters. 8/10 Also, I can't be the only one who teared up when the first opening started playing at the end? |

Futari de... nigebasho sagashite... I think this might be the last of FMP anime. It's tough to draw new viewers and Blu-ray money with such an older series, even more so if a follow-up sequel were greenlit. There were already worries about IV doing well since it will alienate people who haven't followed it for 13+ years. Thank you Gatoh, Gonzo, KyoAni, Xebec. EDIT: Also, I don't understand why Sergeant Sousuke always gets the latest multi-million Mithril mechs? First ARX-7 and now ARX-8. Shouldn't it be given to Uruz-1, Lieutenant Clouseau? Both are SRT, and Clouseau seems more skilled in AS use, unless Sousuke really is the specialist of the group, in which case his being given the mechs make sense. |

Probably best part of whole FMP ended, we astonishing character development, introducing a lot of new characters, heavy focus on combat and politics and redemption arc. All I miss is "goodbye" from Nami "Whispered mode". Last episode of FMP IV was done really well and use of songs from season 1 hit me really hard on nostalgia. This one deserves Season 5 to finish epic ending that is ahead of us. |

Let's wait for another 10 years to get season 5! In all honesty though, this season was alright, not as good as Second Raid but still enjoyable. We got to meet a lot more characters aswell. 7/10 |

Well I guess that inconclusive ending means we gotta wait a long ass time for a conclusion sequel. I feel like the creators love to troll people by doing this. As for the show I thought it was okay. I liked the action, new characters and the new mech. Robot Sousuke was also upgraded with the "I love Chidori" program to make him seem less robot. But I honestly felt bad for Nami who got involved and killed thanks to Sousuke's selfish objective to get some leads on Amalgam. I actually liked Nami more in just 3 episodes than I ever liked Kaname throughout the entire series. The ending was a letdown. There was no mech fight between Sousuke and Leonard or any of his lackeys. And while Leonard's group were busy fleeing with everyone from "their" enemies our boi Sousuke decided to show off his new badass mech seemingly making it easier for them to escape. Because who doesn't love a good cat and mouse chase season after season. If this is not creative writing than I don't know what is LOL. |

Well, I usually ff through the mech stuff when watching FMP, to get to the good stuff. Fumoffu was amazing, but I give this A 5/10. Souske is comedy gold, don't bench your star player. I wanted him to say "I won." after destroying each mech. |

LOL! ARX-7 and now ARX-8 was given to Sousuke because he is the only Mithrill pilot that could use the Lambda Driver without using a special drug unlike like what Amalgam is doing to their pilots. It was explained on ofe of the episodes of TSR that Sousuke is the only one that can activate the Lamba Driver on Arbalest. |

No use being disappointed; it is was it is and it's following the tone of the manga. Stuff did get serious towards the end with very little humor. BTWW, Loved Chidori's confession, even though I'm still a Tessa fan. Wanted to see some romance from my fav couple - Mao/Weber - but (sighs) that was too much to ask. Definitely not better than the first or second, but it's OK. |

You can get that Mao/Weber if they continue this but never mind, ugh I was crying the whole time I played Super Robot Wars V for that scenario. That was somewhat whatever, I don't like to tell it so what's with the spoiler tag? I didn't even tell anything (I literally did spoil it anyway with my reaction) Anyway, I really did like this series than TSR even if I knew that I won't getting too much comedy out of it because I knew Chidori will be abducted. I really like the first four episodes and last four episodes. Haters will hate everything so I will just ignore those and let Tuatha de Danaan take care of them. Mardukas: There's a lot of complainer in this anime, Captain! Tessa: Let us correct the error of their ways, XO. Open the vertical firing tubes! Fire the cruise missile! Mardukas: Aye-aye, ma'am! Open the vertical firing tubes! Fire the cruise missile! That Karenai Hana playing was spot on. That scene in Super Robot Wars V (they catch it word for word, well it was based in the light novel so yeah) really made me cry. And of course, Weber also made me cry laughing HAHAHA! (though I think the game did the Weber impersonation much better, the feels even though it's in a visual novel format). Now, I'm really looking forward to the physical release of the light novels in North America. |

The problem with this season was the pacing and the animation quality was underwhelming. Well they adapted the remaining 90% of the story in 12 episodes so what can I expect. Nami's death leaved me bad taste in my mouth. She deserved better than that. Nevertheless as a FMP fan I still enjoyed the series. I can understand why some people disliked this tho. Because it doesn't have a comedy like the previous series was. (For those who didn't read the novel/manga.) If there will be a next season I hope they dont mess up (because of the pacing) Sousuke's relationship with Kalinin. I like their background story. I dont have any high hopes for the next season tho. Just the read the novel/manga for those who want more. the ending was epic |
