| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- For some reason, I really like the rhythm of the step dancing. It brings more attention the fast movements and pacing between the dance partners. This episode also reflects on Tatara's training which I think is important since it gives more details about how he's been preparing. Gaju seems to regain his momentum in this competition and imo performed quite well. On the other hand, Tatara is able to keep up with the tune and I really liked the momentum of this episode in general. Great music usage as well. I think this was Tatara's toughest dance so far yet. A lot of emotions this episode. I thought it was great. |

| Honest awards and the emotions were real, I'm glad the show is just halfway. Show em' how better you can get Tatara! There's more after the ending if someone missed it. |

| Inb4 the massive fangasm of the new character appearance. They cut what the judge said to Shizuku after the rewards were handed out. The pacing going forward should be interesting. |

| I thought there was 2 more episodes for the competition but i guess this episode was quick rush. Anyway it is normal for Tatara couple to be last as it's his first competition and Mako deserve to get the queen award. I don't remember the after credit scene from the manga but we get cameo of Tatara partner. |
| Wait so they actually separated? Does that mean MC will partner up with you know who? Or is that later down the road still? Edit: I'm glad she won Queen, but this episode still had a lot of still images. Very little actual animated dancing. Disappointed in that. |

| Thankfully, episode 10 was just a one off for me. Direction and music were great again and it could carry the episode despite the lack of animation. Speaking of, we got that INCREDIBLE 10 second sequence and one pretty quirky footstep sequence ANIMATED! When they can go all out, they do flex their muscles with it. Gaju continues to really grow on me, he's a good dude honestly. RED HAIR GIRL HYPE?! |
| Good episode. Gaju and Shizuku won the final but didn't expect Tatara and Mako to get last place. They still went to the final and it showed that their training paid off. Mako also deserved to win the Queen award. Tatara exam number was the same as his dance number. What a coincidence. That girl in the end. It nice that this show is a 2-cour. |

| Amazing episode from start to finish I feel bad for Fujita being the reason why they came last but in all honesty, it was expected. Still, I'm happy that he was able to accept his L and his even more motivated to become better I'm even more happy that Mako one the Dancing Queen award/beat Shizuku because she honestly deserved to win more than anyone and I wanted her to get her wish granted....I'm also glad that her brother finally got a grip too and made up with her Shizuku is still my favorite girl but Mako was best girl of this arc, however I did feel bad for her when we saw her in the bathroom crying and I hope that she can bounce back well from this and hopefully make up with Kiyoharu (Who looks like he's ready to come back) Overall, this episode was a real treat and I'm very excited to see where things go from here (This felt like a finale lol but thank god we have one more cour to go)....Also, I know who that red haired girl is =P I can't wait to get properly introduced to her |

| Amazing episode, this one made me real emotional. The final performance was excellent and the music was outstanding, we even got an actual animated sequence. Hell yeah! Loved the parts where they showed Sengoku and Kiyoharu wanting to dance so badly. When Tatara started crying after the performance, I began to tear up. The guy worked so hard and yet when he kept saying that he felt he was nothing in front of the others was really heartbreaking for me. Sengoku talking about Tatara did the most important thing and sacrificed himself to make Mako win was great, I was so emotional throughout the awards ceremony because of everything that was happening. T.T On one side, I'm super happy Mako won, heck I had a huge grin on my face once they announced that she won but on the other side I'm sad that now she and Tatara have to split up. :( Shizuku crying was sad. :( Red hair girl hype? I have a feeling I'm gonna like her a lot. xD |

| Despite the lack of animation and an immense usage of still-shots, it's undeniable that the directing is top-notch, and that's what's carrying the series. How the OST is used, how the dialogues are executed, how everything is paced, all of it is well done. And there were some animated dance moves in this episode too. I wish they animated Hyodo's spin dance instead of using a still shot though. The anime may not have the same intensity as the manga, but the emotions are still there. No. 23 being 7th wasn't a shocker, but Mako winning the Queen title was nice to see. Also, we'll finally get to see Chinatsu in the next episode :D 5/5 |

| That was beyond great :O Yeah, there were still many stills,but that moment around 08:32 was fantastic, not just the dynamic also the soundtrack. Definitely the episode which got me the most emotional, when Tartarabursted out in tears I felt like doing the same. He did a great job and thanks to him Mako-chan even became the Queen of the tournament,overall he can be proud of himself, even Kiyoharu and Sengoku got pumped up :P And lol,23 became Tartaras lucky number. New character spotted this will get interesting again and there's also the new opening in sight ^^ |

| Beautiful episode! Cant' wait for the next arc and Tataras partner. Teaser at the end. For some reason I thought that the Tenpei cup was over. Must have been cause I re-read the manga a few days ago and everything was so fresh, great adaptation cause everything was 100% accurate to the manga |

| Bes girl, best girl!! That aside, there's also one thing, besides the dances not being animated, there's one other thing that upsets me. It's the fact that the music doesn't match the dances they are indeed dancing, don't get me wrong i think the musical direction overall is good, but if they are dancing the quick-step i want to listen to a crazy fun music not that slow pace that doesn't match what they're actually doing. The music is one-sided towards the dialogues instead of the dance routines, and to that you add the lack of dance animation and it's more frustrating. It just takes me out of it. Sort of: |

| This episode was beautiful. Even though Tatara and Mako didn't make it first place for couples, they did amazing. At least they were able to make it to the finals. He still has much more to learn though. I'm happy for Mako for receiving the ballroom queen award. Tatara's leading made her shine. I see the best girl that everyone is talking about. |

| what a nice episode. so heartwarming to see Tatara's progression as a person and a dancer, he's so much more confident now. i enjoy MC's like this, i thought i would hate him at first but he's growing on me with each episode. soooo happy for Mako, but i don't understand how she wants to return to Gaju. plus it is true that it's harder for them to dance because of the height differences. also feel really bad for Shizuku, i hope this loss was for the better rather than the worse also FINALLY we get to see the other girl character soon |

| Well Mako and Tatara didn't win, as expected, but I'm happy that Mako got the Queen award. This competition strengthened their resolve to get better, so I look forward to seeing what they do later on. I wish Mako would just stay with Tatara, as I think they're a better pair for each other instead of her dancing with her jackass brother. Looks like the "best girl" that everyone has been going on about will be introduced soon. Also, we got a little bit of actual animated dancing and you can tell that when they try, it looks really good. Hopefully they've been saving their budget for when Tatara improves later so we can fully experience the greatness. |

| What an amazing episode! Beautifully adapted in my opinion. They kicked up the animation a notch as well, along with some nicely animated dance sequences. That was wonderful! Can't wait for the next episode and our girl Chinatsu to appear! |

| Great episode to end the Tenpei Cup. The Quick Step was awesome. Congrats Mako on winning the Ballroom Queen Award. Well deserved. Sad that Tatara & Mako will no longer be partners. Can't wait to see the new girl. Keep it up Tatara. |

| Well now we know the reasoning for the hold up in episode 10. They kicked it into high gear this episode. Better animation than usual...but still not enough. Also...while I know the anime is about dance, I kind of wished that they danced in tune with the music. It just doesn't sit right with me when they're dancing to a song that we can't hear. Well I didn't read your post beforehand, and you just explained my main complaint with this episode. Dance is good, but where's the music?! Well, they didn't win as expected. And it's okay to cry. It happens to a lot of first-timers. Everyone fails the first time. But that means that you still have room to git gud. Now that this arc is over, I guess the animators can take a little breather until the next major dance comes around. The magic number "23"...Let me guess. The climax of this series is going to occur on episode 23... |

| This was a great end to the first half of the season. Mako got her recognition, Gaju's attempts to get with Shizuku twarted, and Tatara finishes up middle school and enters High School with a purpose. Am so hyped for next week. Y'all think Chinatsu's appearance was good, wait till you get a load of Sengoku's partner and his world class opponents! Tatara's being taught by a monster, and it's next week that this fact bangs him smack on the head. XD |

| The finale to the Tenpei Cup ended on a high. I had a semi-permanent smile on my face as Tatara/Mako and Gaju/Shizuku danced with all their might on the dance floor. To make up for episode 10's complete lack of any dancing animation, Production I.G kicked it up a few gears and, for a few minutes at least, produced some really nice quickstep dancing animation. I still demand more of that in the future, but for now, I'm really happy with what they offered in this episode. Full praise also goes to the directing and the soundtrack too. It made the finale of the Tenpei Cup really enjoyable and excellent. I knew that, as a pair, Shizuku and Gaju would win the competition, but I'm pleased that Mako won the ballroom queen award and it was well deserved too. Thanks to that, Gaju won't be dancing with Shizuku anymore. Both Tatara and Shizuku respectively teared up after failing to win their respective goals and I understand that too. Working extra hard to win, only to come up short can be upsetting and frustrating. I'm sure that the both of them will get better in the future. =) As for Tatara again, at least he was able to pass his entrance exams to get into his high school of choice. I assume that the red-haired girl at the end is this Chinatsu girl. Considering that the comments above me are hyping her a lot, I'm hoping that she'll live up to the hype and becomes a character that I like. =P |
| Holy fuck, that was an amazing episode! The dance, the emotions of the characters, the hard hitting feeling of getting last place followed by Mako winning the award, what a rollercoaster of emotions, her win got me close to crying, something that doesn't really happen to me in sports anime. Great episode to end the arc, the start of the series was quite weak to me but after that it got better and better, crossing fingers hoping that whatever comes next only does but keep improving the series. |

| Little rushed, but I really enjoyed the episode. I found myself tearing up, clapping, smiling, and shouting through out the whole episode. I can't to see how they animate future episodes. |

| The sakuga train was certainly not late for this one. Not just the dance itself but some of those facial animations, especially on Gaju right after. Also, I like how the entrance exams were basically a footnote after the credits. He got good grades, but who cares, he danced awesomely! |

I want to give Shizuku a hug, maaan. :'( Don't worry, you're still the most gorgeous lady I've set my eyes on in this anime. Hehe. What an amazing episode! At least, they showed us at least the moves when they're dancing the quickstep. That's a bit of a gamechanger and it was glorious. I wonder who's that long-haired girl. This anime's a 9/10 for me again. ^_^ |

| Such a wonderful episode! Eventhough Fujita has a bit of cramps he still delivered! yehey! at least Mako won the award "Queen of the Floor!" Why the heck Shizuku frustrated even though she and Gaju already won 1st place!? Well I think of course its because of Mako! oh good lord! Chinatsu already made a discreet scene of her! 5/5. |

| I'm surprised that a lot of people are okay with the "non-animation". Usually I don't even notice issues with the animation and for most other anime I'm fine with it (cause mostly I don't notice). Here even I noticed ... and for the dancing stuff it is okay. (Would be too much work I guess.) But there was some part where the focus was on the faces (don't know it if was of the audience or from some of the dancers but only faces in the picture) and I thought my player crashed/froze. :D At least that should have been animated constantly. (But it most other scenes it wasn't an issue and they were cheering and moving enough - that was only 1 scene where it seemed annoying.) Edit: From 07:50 to 07:56 at the beginning and end 2 pictures of the audience (not moving like the other pics where it is like the camera is moving) where they are clapping (sound) but they don't move. That feels weird combined with the clapping sound not to animate them. With other scenes where a person was talking (thinking) while the camera moved showing other stuff (not the person talking) it was okay. |
