Whether it's a shounen or not wouldnt determine an outcome like that as this term only projects the target audience as well as the traits of most of the characters, they can still move the plot in any way they feel. But O...M...G prepare for epicness in the next ep, things are about to get awesome! |
| If Jinei killed Kaoru there, there would have been a possibility that instead of revenge, Kenshin would seperate himself from his loved ones to prevent any further harm to them. That seems like something he would do and Jinei wants Kenshin to come looking for him, so kidnapping seems more logical in this situation than instantly killing her. Also, Sanosuke needs a more agile fighting style, he has so much potential but his heavy swings are nerfing him. Some relationship development between Kaoru and Kenshin as well, though it seems one sided at the moment. |

The only thing that makes sense to me is that he put the boat in the river upstream, then grabbed her and jumped on. Kenshin surmises (in the manga anyway) that it must've rained upstream after noticing the unusually swift current. Even going so far as to say that falling in would mean certain death. So the idea of him coming downriver on the boat, jumping off, grabbing Kaoru, and jumping back on, and giving Kenshin the "meet me at the shrine at midnight" thing, is pretty ridiculous. But compared to what's coming later in the series, this is just the tip of the iceberg. |

| Easily the best episode so far, the ending with Kaoru being taken away surprised me not gonna lie. Kenshin will hopefully go insane and I can't wait for it! This anime has been slow yet interesting. I can't wait for this insane fight! |

| Love the fun slice of life at the beginning. Yahiko & Sanosuke's comments on Kaoru's cooking, lmao. Not a fan of the chi thing or the way it's been presented, I just don't buy it. |

The audience and feel of a show does determine, in some way, how the plot carries itself and how the characters end up. I don't think that he would necessarily have killed her though either since the hostage situation is a common one. Kurogasa is basically The Joker. He has a weird grin (and just a general weird look), the first part of the episode's plot is incredibly similar to The Joker's first appearance telling radio listeners that he will kill at midnight, and his action at the end totally seems like a Joker thing to do. I liked the surprise, but it was also kind of goofy. This was a great episode, though. |
