THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Interesting that the show has covered so much ground in only 13 episodes, the advantages of adaptations like this and Seirei no Moribito, is there's no need to stretch a story with filler or lazy directorial trickery. I just wish anime TV writers would plan their stories better, the vast majority are very flimsy and struggle to last the 26 or whatever length of commissioned episodes.

Man, I am so glad Sugimoto chilled the hell out. Even so I still didnt trust her. While she was riding on the flying beast with Yoko, I kept expecting her to stab her in the back.

In any other anime, this episode with the defeat of the fake empress, would be the climax, so I'm interested in where the story goes now.

I was expecting Sugimoto to stab her in the back too but I guess not D: I'm glad she calmed down too but I was surprised it was so early in the show. I guess I was expecting that later?

How did this anime get to become so good?

The first 3 episodes I was mostly forcing myself to watch it, because Yoko's constant whining and crying was very annoying. Luckily she grew up a lot and now actually became an interesting character. Can't wait to see more!

Youko finally became a queen.
I think it would be better if they actually show us the battle.

OMG Rakshun is such a perv. XD He touched her from the back being naked ! lol
And he says he prefers the animal form. Which means he likes to be naked. lol Keiki was also naked but he didn't transform into human form. lol

Youko was awesome and turned into a king. =D

Sugimotos finally back ! The boy at the last seemed cute like an shota ass !

Best ep !

It's only now that the real story begins. It was only after watching Shiki that I picked this anime up, but now I'm glad that I did cause it could very well turn into something epic (guess I'll have to watch and see).

I'm so glad Yuka has really come to her senses, cant stop thinking that she'll try to kill Youko whenever she got the chance (like during the ride).

Does that mean Asano is back or something? Is that guy Yuka spoke to Asano but he has forgotten who he is?? Confused

The guy who was painting is a kirin from another country, he and his ruler went missing for a while and it seems that this kirin lost his memories.

didn't think that Youko would become Queen so quickly, I thought it would take some more time.

It will be interesting to see in what direction the story now goes, hopefully it will be epic :D

What the hell? Atleast spend an episode or two on the takeback/ rescue of Keirei. What the hell was that? Timeskip? C'mon.
I don't even know what the hell she was talking about. I didn't connect to her feelings at all. I didn't witness the damn things.

Directing sucks. :/
This series would be so good if the staff were better.

At least Sugimoto calmed down. The boy she talked to back in her world was mentioned in an earlier episode by Enki, I believe.

BUT. Much more interesting than the first few episodes. Hopefully the series picks up even more.

Yeah, I'm curious as to what happened during the war. She said she lost so many people...please don't let Raku be one of them...or the traveling circus.

And Yuka went home...thank god.

This series is growing on me. They should have shown at least a few scenes of the battles though.

Things have come full circle re the Sugimoto character. No longer feeling that hatred.

The best part is that Sugimoto left lol oh and the naked Rakshun hug.

LOL so I see I'm not the only who is still distrustful of Sugimoto, espcially at that scene where she handed Youko something to drink.I was wondering if it was poison lol.The "Let's get back Keiki" mission was very anti-climatic in a sense.I thought it would have been more difficult. Also I don't know if I missed something or what but hadn't Shouryuu said that the reason that they weren't able to reteive Keiki was because once a King and his army invades another Kingdom they would be shot down by the heavens or something like that,so how was he able to assist Youko in rescuing Keiki and not die?

Youko keeps hesitating about becoming the queen: this is repetitive and stinky.
King Kou keeps disobeying the Heavens, knowing the consequences, then, after his Kirin died, he at last made up his mind? WTF?

The timeskip is efficient since it skips facts that could've been bothering.

Don't fucking understand how tigers/horses are able to fly... Know it's fantasy and, because it's fantasy, the 12K world introduce new physics and so on, but damn, flying tigers!

And, as said in another Episode Discussion, the fact that "good" king = good life/fertile lands and "bad" king = bad life/infertile lands... hum... this is utterly absurd.

Nice anime until now. The pacing could be an issue. But still better than many animes. A lot of strong points to build a nice story. Hopefully the next episodes would be better and much more fast paced.

What a baller end to the first part of the story. I was annoyed by Youko at first but she grew so much during this first arc. I was hooked by this from the get-go. I can't wait to see what the next arcs bring.

P.S. Rakushun is the god damn man. I've never seen a rat guy with so much game in my life. Baller status for life.

King Jealous/fool gets to wait for his imminent death, and his kingdom gets to fall to ruin, while a new Kirin is born/matures. Good job pal. Bonus points in stupidity for killing the Kirin himself.
Matsuoka Yoshitsugu has hardly any range as a voice actor, and is grossly over-cast.

Yeah. I said it.

I'm surprised Yuka didn't stay, she could have had a place in that world at Youko's side. To bad they didn't show the battles, but I guess it wasn't really necessary.

I also thought Sugimoto was gunna try something. I'm glad she's come to her senses. She met Kouri back in Japan, who they only mentioned earlier...I can't remember when. I wonder what will happen.

I also wish they showed the battle :( Anyway, I was skeptical of this show at first, I'm glad I kept watching!

Sugimoto doing a complete 180 in her personality and attitude happened in such a short time that it felt a little extreme. And it's hard to feel sympathetic towards her after her obnoxious behavior (to put it mildly) during her unhinged, delusional bitch phase. But at least she's gone, so that's one good thing she has done.

And would have liked to at least see a slideshow of the battle.

Wow, that was really bizarrely handled/directed. The two armies are flying towards each other, then suddenly a month has passed. And if the people of Kei would have surrendered if presented with proof that Jyoei was a false queen, then why did everyone feel compelled to fight a massive, brutal, high-casualties battle rather than just, I dunno, Youko going alone to sneak in and extract Keiki (which seems to have happened anyway, rendering the battle 100% pointless)?

Meanwhile, Sugimoto seems to have transformed into a completely different character, with nothing in common with the person she'd been for the past 12 episodes. The month-long timeskip helps to sugar the pill a little, I guess, but it's still a radical character shift. I'm all for her redeeming herself, but it would have been nice to... actually have it in the show, rather than her just apparently undergoing her entire redemption arc in 0.03 seconds while getting a hug from Youko.

I'm liking the return to Earth, though. It'd be nice to have a couple episodes focusing on Sugimoto figuring stuff out in Japan and investigating this kid before we go back to Youko.

Okay okay, this show REALLY didn't interest me at first but now it's done a complete 180 and I'm totally invested in it more than I was before.

Also I'm lowkey starting to ship Youko x Rakushun

Also even though there were times that I couldn't stand her, in the final episode I did like Sugimoto.

Felt a bit anticlimatic Sugimoto's redemption was executed (the little timeskip as well) Hoping that this wasn't the last time we saw her. Really want to see if there's a plot line with her and the boy she met and how it will play out.

the Emperor of Kou is still adamant on killing Yoko and even goes to try to lift a finger against her just to have his Kirin disobey his order and step in between him and the blade. And now he meets his fate of having only a year left because the heavens are now made at him.
It was cool to see Sugimoto chill the fuck out but to see her kinda do a 180 so fast was kinda off.
Now the other half of this ep is the battle to put Yoko as the true empress. As someone mentioned, "if an emperor of a country crosses the borders with weapons, its considered a sin".
Does the Emperor of En get sinned or not. Like, i dont understand how this does or doesnt count as him invading another country since it sounds like they are dethroning this fake empress and he has to cross borders with an army and a weapon on his side.
Then we get to the battle....oh wait, what freakin battle. They have the Emperor of Ens troops bout to fight of the forces of Kei but then jumps to Yoko already finding Keiki. Like, that was very anticlimatic af. Then they just explain away what happened afterwards with the fake empress taking a last stand and we skip any struggles that Yoko had or losses she incurred. We are just told by her that she did experience some heavy loss. I dont know how the manga is but I would have liked to see this struggle. Not blow past this shit. Made me frustrated man. Like, fuck the process, its all about the end result my guys.
Anywho, this ep isnt without its good stuff i guess. We had yoko finally make a choice thanks to her mouse friend. And then we see where this story goes in Japan side. I'll admit, things did get better since the beginning eps but it's been quite hard for me to retain this information on these different creatures or kingdoms and then just to have them speedrun this last ep through this conflict just pissed me off.

Yuka finally went back home! I agree with the other posters in that I can't feel too bad for her. Most people are searching for their grand purpose in life. People want to know what it is that they should be doing. Though how she went through that process was very evil and violent. Harming innocent people and trying to kill her friend, due to jealousy. I'm so happy that she's mellowed out and stopped her bad actions.
