No like I'm actually curious. Did the show really not interest you at ALL? The demon that showed up didn't make you curious if it was real or a figment of the girls imagination? The amazing art and generally great directing didn't keep you interested. The theme of the occult world that can't be disproven by science maybe existing didn't grab your attention. The nebulous format didn't keep you confused and curious. Like the only complaint I'm hearing about is "boobs" and "too fast paced. I couldn't even read the subtitles." What's going on? I won't say this show's great but there's so much I like about it, that I can't understand how this show's so hated already. |

I was just really confused, I don't understand what the story is about at all. He's just a weeb who owns a website and gets helped by 2 girls. Who after going for an interview finds a dead person. That's all it is to me. Nice clickbait tittle though! :) |

Hi all. I'm a new avid anime fan. So after watching a summary on Youtube after watching this series I sort of get what the episode is trying to do... Unlike Steins;Gate, it didn't really draw me in though. I've told myself I'll give it the three episode chance before I drop it. The boobs are irritating...I must admit. Who agrees with me? |

Boobs are overrated. All I see are gifs of the girl's tatas on tumblr ATM. |

I actually went back and rewatched the episode a couple hours after I initially watched it, and it made all the difference. I now pretty much completely understand what's going on and am really excited to see how this show progresses. Also, Myu-pom is best girl. |

No, people are dropping it because the pacing is incredibly fast, the characters are just the exact same LN characters we've seen elsewhere and the entire thing is garbage. That scene at the end where the main character finds a bloodied knife and actually dances with it is something I've yet to have someone explain to me. |

ZetaZaku said: Maybe people are dropping because the show is, you know, garbage and nothing in it is even remotely interesting? The thing is, I'd believe that, if the only complaints I keep hearing weren't "boobs dropped" or "OH MY GOD I CAN'T READ THAT FAST." Like, if a lot of people put down constructive criticism why they didn't like the show, I'd be fine. For instance, the show Sakurasou Na Pet Kanojo is a very divisive show in how it was received and people actually made sensible statements when they dropped it. Here it's like a knee-jerk reaction? It doesn't even make sense because if you actually look at the show it shows promise. Bst222 said: I was just really confused, I don't understand what the story is about at all. Nice clickbait tittle though! :) Wasn't trying to make it a clickbait though XD. Go read through episode 1's discussion and you'll see why I made this topic. Also regarding the confusion. Yeah, our protagonist so far is a guy that runs a website that puts together information from other sites and makes it easier to read. He's interested in occult stuff so he simplifies other bloggers works on disproving widely known occult myths. The big boobed girl is some girl he met one day and their weirdness synced with each other and they've been friends since. I'm not sure if the zapper gun is real or if he's just faking pain whenever she points it at him but they are a strange pair. There's also a sideplot with a person who actually curses people using their hair as a catalyst. It looks like she might have a demon on her side, but the demon is disgusted by the smell of a rotting scalp so I'm not sure if it's even the one that commits the horrible acts she says happens when she curses someone. There's a scientist that doesn't like to dismiss the occult because while science can't prove it, they can't disprove it either. He's murdered, and the murder instrument is some strange knife? It looks like a ritual dagger and the protagonist touched it so he might have fingerprints on it implicating him in the murder or it might throw him into the world of the real occult. Who knows. The girl in school that the protagonist kinda digs can see the future. She makes predictions and she thinks that in order to move forward with her life she needs to be near the protagonist. She shows no romantic interest in him, and it's dubious whether she can actually see the future or not so far. Anyways, off the top of my head, that's what I remember happening in the episode. sushiisawesome said: No, people are dropping it because the pacing is incredibly fast, the characters are just the exact same LN characters we've seen elsewhere and the entire thing is garbage. The science guy had an interest in the occult and he found a cool knife. Being the teenager he is, he picked it up and knife fought with the air for shits and giggles. Regarding the whole EXACT same LN characters we've seen everywhere else, that's like literally anime. Anime has character tropes and people fall into them. Better Darker anime have them. Steins;Gate's characters fell into tropes. There's the trap, the cool beauty, the ditzy one, the otaku. Saying a show has characters that fall into anime character tropes is like looking at a banana and saying oh look it's yellow. Gantz had characters that fell into tropes. You've got the virgin teenager, hotness, cool guy, mafia guy. It happens everywhere. |

Well the boobs certainly didn't help but no the real problem was the ungodly abomination that was the pacing (Seriously a whole 400-page LN volume in 1 episode? You could make half a season out of that wtf), and as a result it was not just confusing as hell but it was plain annoying to watch. Like so much of the hyperactive dialogue seemed so irrelevant. They could have just cut out so much fluff and focused on the main plot points and it'd have been so much more coherent :s But yeah maybe it won't feel as alienating once we start getting some explanations moving forward, guess we'll just have to wait and see |

I can't exactly tell what her occupation was, but she seems to really believe in occult stuff. The scene where the guy says he went to meet the scientist but got greeted by an old lady? She says it might've been the ghost of his mother and honestly believes it. The acquaintance walks by the house with an air of understanding. Basically he probably knew the scientist was going to die that night. There was no pop star. The popular girl on TV is a fortune teller. The transgender's probably just a flamboyant gay dude. I don't think he's relevant yet. Seems like he's there for comedic relief and outsider insight. |

Well the boobs were offputting but it is not the reason for me dropping it at all. This show tries to do everything, cool, moe, mystery, horror, comedy, ecchi(boobs) while tackling a serious issue of supernatural and murder. This series is all over the fucking place, if a series is serious and takes on hard topics like death/curses/supernatural and portrays them in a straight up serious way the series need to take itself serious. The main character is a joke, every other character with any screentime is a walking joke, this vibe clashes with the actual serious tone of the anime like a total trainswreck. The setting makes the comedy not funny and the comedy makes the serious setting not serious which results in an extremely bland show. This is my opinion, I will add that I absolutely detest circlejerk series that never lead anywhere and just reuse the same predictable jokes. I either want an intelligent comedy (which this isn't) or a series that actually goes somewhere. This could be part of why I didn't like it but even so this anime is a mess, doesn't mean its not entertaining or its not worth watching but its trying to do too much at once. |

Everything you said, Steins;Gate also did. Are you really saying you can't tackle strong themes with some lighthearted humor? Eden of the East did it too. Also, what's with all this hate towards the protagonist already? What has he really done wrong? He blogs about occult activities and does so dilligently enough that he knows about some of the crazier shenanigans that happen in those circles. He's friends with the big boobed chick, and is a chicken when it comes to talking to girls. He's also not very socially competent, but that's it. How's that bad. He's not even going to be that important in the long run because the show's called occultic;nine so the other nine characters are going to take the spotlight away from him pretty often. Rewatch it again and try to get the hang of the fast pacing. The fact that the dialogue is hyperactive and otakuish doesn't mean it is irrelevant. It's just a style of the dialogue and serves as an introduction. This episode had more relevant dialogue than many of the Otaku comedy bits of Steins;Gate, which of course, had more time to spread in the series. Almost every line in the dialogue is on-key (Aside from the Breasts commentaries). The pacing is not an 'ungodly abomination'. What does that even mean? It's not rushed, it's meant to be this way. https://youtu.be/GgI4mCaNAAU?t=1673 |

Watching anime and complaining about tits is like buying a car then complaining that it needs gas. aikaflip said: it's a try-hard mess that's not even bad enough to laugh at. "A try hard mess" That literally makes no sense and means absolutely nothing. Take your buzzwords somewhere else. |

There's one of you guys every season and your opinion's worth nothing every time. Why are you even here? |

Huge boobs was the least problem of this and people that dropped because of just that sole reason are honestly idiots. The reason I didn't enjoy this was because how it gave me a headache watching it, like seriously it was so hyperactive I thought I was watching it on x2 or x4 speed in VLC. Then someone told me they inserted a whole LN volume into this one episode...which fucking explains a lot to me lol |

I said the rest of the garbage, not the rest of the season. I'm actually watching and enjoying a couple of shows. |

Drop the show? Because of how the 1st episode played out? No way! I admit, the 1st episode was ridiculously fast paced and I have no idea what the director is planning here but there's still about 11 or 12 more episodes. They'll probably use that 11 or 12 episodes to perfectly adapt the 2nd Volume. Remember, the director of this series is also the same guy who directed "Your Lie in April" and that was a perfect anime adaptation. Or he could insert an anime original story later on, who knows? All I know is I have somewhat of a faith with him. I said "somewhat". As for that ridiculous big fucking boobs, that's not going to make me drop a series. |

The fact that this show is almost rated as low as Chaos;Head hurts me. Especially since I have seen no one attempt to explain why it is bad. I understand that some people might not like the pacing, but saying you don't like the pacing, or that it gave you a headache does not in any way mean the show is "bad" they are reasons you might drop it, but are far from being meaningful criticism of any kind. |

GermanMGirl said: Hi all. I agree. I like boobs as much as any guy, but this is too much. And more importantly, if the series turns out to be good it is going to be really difficult to recommend it to other people due to those bazongas. I'm crossing my fingers for the plot to be good. I was promised Steins;Gate 0 this year and got none :'C I need my S;G fix I'll do my best to ignore those tatas in my assessment of the series. Gotta be objective. |

I'm just dropping because it was boring. Like halfway through I was like "It's finally over??" :D...Nope, had to sit through another 12 minutes. Also, yes, I really dislike the boobs. |

Why would you do that? This is anime. You can't even recommend Ano Hana to non-anime viewers, and all that has is Pokemon and one girl with moderate boobs. Were you really expecting an anime that's primary focus was the occult and mysteries surrounding it to target the mainstream mindset? The only reason Steins:Gate even tried was because the main idea came from an actual internet event. The only other anime that had occult ideas like Occult Academy are also non-recommendable to normal people John Titor was an actual user on an internet imageboard. |

The boobs were just a very small part of the chapter so not sure why ppl would drop it cause of that, but i do get that some ppl aren't familiarized with fast-pace animes like Baccano or Durarara so they get bored and don't keep watching just beacause they didn't understand the first episodes (that will be explained further into the series) and miss all the story and fun parts. PD: sry for any grammar mistake i'm not english native. |
