especially with school stress and lots of exams coming up, i just haven't been enjoying it as much either, although the latest episode of haikyuu had me literally screaming at my computer, it was that exciting XD i finished all of sao s2 on christmas eve when i was ill, actually, and i literally remember none of the plot, which says quite a lot...i agree with you, there was just so much useless, boring filler in it. hopefully s3, if it ever gets released, sticks more to one main arc instead of branching off into stupid little arcs at the end of it like s2 did.
damn, wish i had that kind of stamina XD i have little to no attention span - i can't watch anime at all without taking breaks halfway through each episode :P although i have managed to marathon anime i really hated, for some reason - i finished all of sword art online season 2 in a day, and did an all nighter watching btooom...
oh which studio made ajin? i've been thinking about watching it for a whole but the simple art style really put me off, i'll give it a go sometime soon tho :3
the english scanlation is actually at exactly the same place as the anime, disappointingly - the scanlator took a huge break last year and so they're very behind. all out isn't too popular so i doubt anybody else will pick translating it up :( madhouse is a pretty big studio so i don't know if they'd have any problems with budget, again i suppose they might not have expected all out!! to be too popular so they skimped a little on the budget. and no problem, i'm enjoying talking to you about it :D
aw, thank you for your comment :3 the story is pretty generic in my opinion, but that leaves a lot of room for the writers to take it in another direction. i guess art style preference is a personal thing, maybe the style just doesn't translate as well from manga to anime - the manga looked stunning at points! i'm going to keep watching, but to be honest my hopes aren't high...
Well that's not nice, deleting my comment without responding. How am i supposed to accept your random friend request now? I was kinda hoping wed chat a little, but i guess you don't want that...
The fights in the second half really showed how much they blew their budget on the first half.
In the White Whale fight, it was one "main fighter" taking action at a time, and the majority of the time the Whale didn't even do anything. The fights after that were similarly disappointing.
I think that he was right not to pursue Rem as a love interest, and if you think about it,
it'd be really hard for him to love her given their first meetings (namely, the previous timelines where she tortured and killed him).
Still, it did feel like they spent a lot more time building up their relationship than the relationship between Subaru and Emilia.
The primary thing that ruined it for me, though, was Betelgeuse. He acted more like an edgy 13-year-old than someone who was legitimately insane. Having had some bad experiences with actual psychosis, it just really struck a nerve that they couldn't even be bothered to have someone check it for realism.
There were still some things I liked about the second half, though. I always enjoy in-depth magic systems, and even though it was only implied, the complexity of it was nice. Wilhelm was a good character, too, and I think it would've been cool to have a spin-off based around him. That said, the unrealistic physics (falling for an indeterminate amount of time until it's convenient to land, jumping several hundred feet, etc.) really detracted from the fights as well.
I wonder if the light novels are better about those things. I might look into getting them at some point.
I see you gave Re:Zero a 10. I did as well, until after episode 13. Want to discuss the later episodes? Honestly, I felt like the first half was a 10 and the second half was a 2 or 3. The drama was mostly swept under the table in favor of badly choreographed fight scenes and unrealistic dialogues, and I was left wondering why Emilia was the primary love interest when she wasn't even present for more than about 45 minutes in the entire 26-episode season.
