I like how focused Eiichirou is this episode. He's a lot more confident than I remember from the first few episodes. I kinda like how the episode/series emphasis on the tennis serves though.

Anyways, at this point, I expect Eiirchirou's growth and skills to increase with this level of training and competition. Seriously though, way to pull ahead Eiichirou. I'm proud of this kid now.

Haha that last shot was kind of lucky though, but he did win ! :)

He's going to become a very strong player when he gets a finishing shot.

Eiichirou's diversity really opened up in this match.
He faked shots and took risks, but it all paid off in the end.
I'm really looking forward to the next match now.
I hope Miyagawa doesn't suffer too much from that loss.

I was hoping he'd win, but not like that. Still this whole episode was awesome. I love all of the technical standpoints of the show, especially when we get to see Eiichirou notes. Those damn things make my head spin though. Can't wait for the next episode... But I guess I have to.

If there was ever a time when I felt something ended too fast it was this episode.

I could swear this felt shorter than any previous episode.

Loved this ep XD Such a lucky win though but Ei-chan deserves it ^^ Finally he got rid of his cursed 3rd round. I have a feeling he's gonna lost the nxt match though.

Good experience he gained and glad to see him improving :Dl

Oh man can't believe Eiichirou won that mactch. Lots of surprises during that match, and that last move by Miyagawa definitely surprised him.

Now that's what you call a lucky shot haha :D Though I wouldn't call his win a fluke. Miyagawa was lost when Ei-chan shifted to serve and volley and was clearly rattled near the end resulting to a double fault.

That reflex on Miyagawa closing up!
To get all the way to tiebreaker. Ei-chan taking risks which led to Miyagawa losing an important point.
Ei-chan won!!! Miyagawa would be a much more formidable opponent as he learns to use other stroke forms!

LOL. He won! Not quite the way I wanted him to, but hey. Matches usually don't go as planned.

Why'd it end there though. I wanted to see the handshake. Ah, I feel bad for Miyagawa now. I liked him so kind of sucks that he lost that way. Hopefully we see more of him too. :)

And looks like another training episode next. I seriously can't wait to see Ei-chan play like he does in the opening.

Great episode. Gud animu. Really enjoyed watching Eiichirou learn throughout that whole match, and Miyagawa's realization of why he was going to lose at the end was well done. Amazing episode.

Vengeance of everyone's grudge.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who noticed. Seriously, it distracted so much from the action. It looked like there were a bunch of wax dolls watching the match. Not a single movement and the art looks completely out of place.

Wow.. the match felt a lot longer in the manga. It went by a flash this episode because it felt like they could extend it to one more episode. Damn you time constraint!!

Same here. Got distracted too. There was even one male spectator who looks like shouting or cheering which looks really weird. Anyway, LUCKY SHOT!!! Congratz Ei-chan!

Great adaptation. I like, too, the short but informative tennis lessons. I wasn't aware that tiebreakers were separate from a 7-5 win. Consider me edified!

The CGI spectators wouldn't be so bad if they weren't shown THAT CLOSE. From then on, it was hard not to notice even the less noticeable CGI.

Make a quick/crappy animu version, studio! The point of CGI is body count not laziness -- two non-moving spectators shouldn't be a big deal. xD

Yeah, they were horrible. I mean, there is some bad quality in these latest episodes but I'm trying to not mind it too much.

Anyway, it was predictable that Maruo would have won against Miyagawa but it was necessary I guess. Next episode it seems the English guy will come back to train Maruo?

Omg so distracting! They should have just left them out... :/ I really don't mind the below average animation in this anime but sometimes, it bugs me just a bit!

This was a really close match, and intense episode. Was on the edge of my seat eager to find out who will win it.

I'm glad I didn't read the manga, because I would have expected everything, and otherwise been too bothered by the super ugly background characters, and occasional crappy faces of the players (like Miyagawa's face when he serves looking like he was dropped as a baby)--hopefully they'll fix these little things for the Blu-ray.

Kinda make me wish Baby Steps have Haikyuu's budget instead. A lot of great anime has minimal budget.

Nah Miyagawa wouldn't do that. He never goes up to the net since he only ever hits ground strokes, meaning he's not used to smashing and has little control. He probably just accidentally aimed at Ei-chan. But hey, Ei-chan had good reflexes and immediately used his racquet to protect himself and then luckily ended up winning in the most surprising and unexpected way :)

Holy crap, that episode was amazing! The game did go into a tiebreak like I hoped for last episode. :D That double fault by Miyagawa was crazy! And of course, Ei-chan's match-point was incredibly bizarre as well. But hey, tennis games are decided like that sometimes. Honestly though, the tiebreak soooo intense. The episode zoomed by in a flash for me.

Yup. It was distracting until I was drawn into the game. :>

The animation was horrible as always, but what got me excited are those data graphs in Ei-chan head during the match, showing all kind of possible plays.

Thank you little girl for asking questions. LOL

Great second half of the match with some Sims like spectators behind the fence

It had a tie breaker, double fault and some other nice tennis moments
I thought the deciding sets wouldn't have tie breakers at all

The last point of Maruo and the air return which resulted into an ace were just hilarious yet real

First episode of the series I got bored. The match was really long, and once you understand that they're using it to explain the scoring system, it becomes quite predictable. Plus another 30s flashback (exactly the same as last episode...) to drag things off.

A lucky shot to finish, can you even do more cliché ? Guess that serves the guy right for aiming the face.

Also first time I notice the retarded looks of the onlookers in the background... Cannot unsee :'(

Them spectators looked so derpy. lol

Finally Maruo won, and what a way he did it. Maruo didn't expect Miyazawa to go on the attack and much less for the ball to go toward Maruo that close to him. He blocks the show and somehow manages to get the final point. Good win, errors yes but nonetheless he got past the 3rd round.

Takuma sure was a bit impressed.
