Character development for other side/minor characters (particularly the antagonist). 2. Fleshed out storyline (ex: the origin of Shandian, Skypiean and Bilkan from Skypiea saga). 3. Author intended storyline (example; Sanji's past). It's not just One Piece though. Any long running series are better off followed by reading their original source (the manga). You won't get any bloopers, continuity errors as well as getting disappointed by the animations and the arts the anime studio produced. I only watch a selective episodes of One Piece anyway. That, or you can read/catch up to the manga first and then, watch/catch up with the anime. See if their adaptation meets your expectation or not. agreed Seconded. Kizaru's voice-acting and some nice details turned this into a 3/5. | When I started reading Naruto I was adicted to the anime, and wanted to know more. if it was now I wouldn't do it. And why stop it? It's just 18 pages per week, nothing much. But with Berserk and 20th century boys is diferent, my brother really loves both, so besides reading on the internet he's buying them :) Those I will read like a book. I'm just thinkiing if I should start now and then wait 1 month to read more pages, or just start to read in some years when it's over. One Piece isn't worth the money to buy it, not even naruto wich I prefer to Op. (yes there are few like me) I even never read FMA which the anime is my favorite show. |

We are talking about One Piece Episode 463, and maybe some other One Piece related things. And the criticism the One Piece anime has been under the last couple of arcs has been ridiculous. Everything after Shaobody may be crap, but that doesn't take away how good it has been in the past. I honestly doubt they are going to screw up this arc like they did during Impel Down. Now THAT had bad pacing, etc. Thriller Bark didn't. Neither did Arabasta. The anime version of Skypeia had the same problems the manga version did. And I can go on. @Schoettler You are comparing the animation from a movie that took 1-2 years to make to an episode that is made in a week. So think of a better example because that is god awful. It has been like.... what? 2-3 episodes, and people are already complaining about this arc. It's ridiculous. |

Don't know what does it mean "coming all the way from the left field" but if it means it's offttopic then sorry about that, but you have 2 choices then, 1-ignore, 2-report. Criticism about One Piece, I always thought the pacing was bad, since the beggining that was the big problem, but still Arabasta managed to be my favorite Arc, but Skypia was really slow, the second half of water Seven was really bad too, the first hald of Thriller Bark was boring and so on. I prefer small arcs, not much episodes, like Shaobody, which was cool, specialy when the Supernovas came. In One Peace I can never say about an arc "it was awesome" nor "it was really bad" because the arc is so big, that in the same one, there are awesome episodes and really boring episodes. The anime could cut half of the episodes, without cutting the content, that's for sure, and there I could say OP was great. But that's not the case, so this anime for me, it's considered great history, great Characters, great development, but loses much points because of pacing. |

| Well, I've finally done the impossible and gone through an arc and a half just to get to this point, but I'm finally caught up. That was a fun three or so days. Oh yeah, Marco Phoenix was really awesome. |

| The worst pacing I know is the seven sea arc. It has almost half of the show consist of flash back and the action only last for less than 7 mins. This episode is very nice compare to that. imo |
| nah thriller bark had the lames pacing.. i remember there was an episode where Moria put the shadow in Oz -_- it took half an episode to put that, and another half to revive Oz this episode was fast paced enough |

| Kizaru sounds annoying as hell, seeing Marco animated was just pure epic, and Oars looks 10x more badass in the anime just because of the color, lol. |

| And even though I like the current one I still can't get used to how long One Piece openings are.... A waste of some good minutes, I must say. Other than that, it was a pretty good episode. |

| Bittersweet, a couple of months ago I started watching One Piece and now im caught up, now I have to limit myself to only one episode release a week. But im happy to be watching One Piece, I just wanted to say that. But yea pretty nice fights, too bad they cant cover more but it is war, only the top ones can get the spotlight. |
| This episode was well paced. I was surprised to see Marco's flames were blue seeing as he's meant to be a phoenix but other than that it was a good ep. |

Even if it took 10 years to make something, I could still compare it to something that took 2 hours to make and say, yeah, the animation in this is better than that. Comparing the two might be completely ridiculous, but still, the difference in animation can not be disputed. Besides, the animation in this episode was horrible compared to, say, Brotherhood, and most other animes in the same genres. (Pardon me bumping an old thread) How bout not comparing animation at all. Its a different visual design and studio, That is like saying Code geass has better quality animation then Soul eater. There both completely different visual art designs from different studio's. I love fooly cooly and tegen toppa gurren lagann. I actually find there art style very unique and interesting. One piece has that same different art style. You can't really compare one completely different visual art style, to another. yeah there is loads of anime with more crisp art styles and flashy character designs, like kara no kyo kai, but for this series, TOEI did a pretty great job and this was there art style from the beginning. It never changed accept when it went into HD. So people that just say they hate one piece because of the different style. Then thats there personal opinion. I can see how one's piece style would turn off alot of viewers. its definitely not the norm in anime. |

| jaw dropping and eye googling episode! as expected each of Whitebeard's commanders are strong! This slugfest has got me all excited in seeing several new and rare Devil fruit abilities! Its great to see each commander can fight on par with the admirals so that it doesn't look one-sided hehe Would like to see more action from Whitebeard himself! The addition of Odz's descendant is just as exciting.. Old man Whitebeard must be special as he has some very loyal followers :-) |

| whitebeard is way too boss. the way he speared that meteor made me laught, he treated it like a lit marshmallow and blew the flames out. he hasn't even moved yet; his commanders intercepted an ADMIRAL and a SHICHIBUKI themselves. considering how kizaru nearly killed all of the straw hats, it's amazing seeing whitebeard's crew. BOSS, I SAY, BOSS. all these new abilities are cool too. i love marco's phoenix and those magma rocks have crazy destructive power. and LITTLE oars JUNIOR? LOL THIS SHOW. |
