@CheesyJen For something you're calling "confirmed", that's about as huge a stretch as any. As of now, there's no way to confirm cutting edge visual technology refers to AI. It could just be cutting edge relative to the older animation from early One Piece days.
@CG-Silver I mean another piece of evidence is that Wit Studio has previously used AI to create the backgrounds for the short film The Boy and the Dog for Netflix.

@CheesyJen True. But to imply something is "confirmed" means not to infer. And here, you're kind of inferring something based on a past project.

Personally, cutting edge could simply mean integration of 3D with 2D animation. WIT is infamous for this and they're clearly very adapt at it. So, I think this is the first assumption that should come to mind. Plus, the production manager for The One Piece is currently working on Moonrise, and I presume they're going to use a similar team just because the production manager is relatively new and might not necessarily have links to other teams. There is no indication of any AI there for now. Lastly, WIT wasn't put up any hiring for AI-specialized staff since the announcement of the project, so I think its safe to assume they aren't looking to build a special team for this.

Would love to see the story, most of One Piece suffers from a bad case of loving to waste your time with empty content that can really burn you out, I'm sure a studio like WIT can massively improve on this. WIT studio staff also have some crazy talent so the animation will be multiple levels better, especially with the old animation and I can imagine the best moments of One Piece absolutely blowing everyone away in the adaptation for a second time. These two things combined will make for a massively better rewatching experience that will also take a fraction of the time to complete start to finish.

I will probably be watching it only after the original anime finishes, hopefully I'll have a bunch of episodes to binge by then :D

Yes. It'll be interesting to see the remake One Piece (2025)/(2026?) air when the original One Piece (1999) is still airing. Literally never seen anything like this happen before. But since it's Netflix, they'll probably release the first 10 episodes at the same time, then we have to wait 6 months for another 10 episode batch to be released. This will obviously be the better version though.

I've already read One Piece, both the normal and colored versions. I've already watched the original series and even One Pace for a rewatch, so yes, I'll watch this one as well.

ofcourse I will surely watch it, since it's pacing and quality is gonna be mind blowing for sure

Wake up to reality! Nothing ever goes as planned in this accursed world. The longer you live, the more you realize that the only things that truly exist in this reality are merely pain, suffering and futility.Everywhere you look in this world, wherever there is light, there will always be shadows to be found as well.As long as there is a concept of victors, the vanquished will also exist. The selfish intent of wanting to preserve peace, initiates war and hatred is born in order to protect love.

Yes, I'll definitely watch this. Hopefully, this will go on long enough that it gets to the episodes with the pacing issues in the current anime.

Absolutely I will. I have rewatched the anime about 16 times now, and I go back when a new arc finishes while keeping up with the manga week to week, so watching with some new animation and filled episodes will be amazing. I used to tell my friends wait to episode 250 for hd since they don’t like the animation but now I have a better chance to get them into the series, as well as not having to worry about pacing hopefully. One of the things that comes to mind is Dreasrosa if they get renewed for several seasons because I love a good old fashioned tournament arc, and having that not be 107 episodes or something like that will be really fun :)

Absolutely watching. Whether I will be alive by the time this version finishes is another matter. But I'm a One Piece fan and I'm excited to see it from the start in a new style.

I think it is mostly cause most users on mal with moderate to long lists are relatively more passionate than those who randomly just binge the latest mainstream stuff(no one is superior btw)
Keeping it on my ptr but will only watch it if the sound effects, animation and osts are good-great though I think with their record of vivy, aot and Vinland saga ,wit"ll pull it off.
Hope the remake improves the things og version lacks and I'm probably alive to see it:)

@Espoque1234 I mean if you follow it each season it should only be 25-30 episodes each year or 2

@CG-Silver https://about.netflix.com/en/news/new-anime-series-the-one-piece

They said "cutting-edge visual technology" which is basically just another way of saying ai.
@CheesyJen Thats not confirming ai usage the directors all have amazing work and wouldnt chose to go in that direction especially with a show they love like one piece they are all huge fans unless they say "we used ai" then its not confirmed

I guess, but it's not the most exciting news to me. There's something even disrespectful about announcing it as an "improved version" when there is another ongoing production, and I do not trust either the changes they plan to make to the original story/writing or the Netflix idea of an "updated" visual or narrative approach for the series. Curiosity will make me check it though.
@jal90 How is that disrespectful? Toei is legit in this project as well not in animating but most likely in other aspects and they are making a profit also alot of the animators wouldnt be proud of the old animation due to it being heavily inconsistent and terrible at times they are way more proud of their wano and egghead animation

its really pointless honestly, its impossible for this to be able to go anywhere near where the current one piece anime is, its going to take literally forever, so its kinda pointless to watch it anyway, remaking a large mainstream shounen does not make much sense in the first place, but it is true that the current one piece anime is not really accessible, thousands of episodes and filled with recap, fillers and overextended scenes which is painful to watch

if anything the live action one piece series is the only accessible one piece media for regular audience
@Elfezen The producers said they are taking this on as a long running series and if its successful they will be adapting more (it will be successful one piece is the most watched anime on netflix and the one piece la was the most viewed show on netflix for ages) and it makes perfect sense its a money farm and we get a good adaption its the perfect move

I wouldn't mind re-watching if their idea is making something like Dragonball Kai (cut the drag and fillers off), but if they end up censoring the fights and cutting corners like in Kai, I will drop it immediately.
@Snaita You dont have to worry about that theres already confirmed concept art and it shows all blood they arent censoring anything also its different from kai its a full remake

@SupremeSauce699 Some animators at the time even expressed their distaste about the way it was announced; it doesn't make much sense to claim there will be "a better version" when there is one being made with an animating team right now. There is nothing wrong with remaking but people will understandably take that you are diminishing their work if they are working in a version of the series and you straight up say you are making "an improved version"; the idea that they were referring exclusively to the early arcs and exclusively in a matter of technical capacity was a nuance they didn't consider in their announcement.

Don't get me wrong, it was just that bit of marketing what I didn't like.

not really all, I've seen some fans hating this remake for the sole reason of not being able to see their god condoriano, and others who just dont want to start all over again.
