Well, I was not ready for that, on a lot of levels. I roughly new the premise and heard some the hype, but holy smokes was I unprepared.

Really top notch production from start to finish. And I have to agree with most, making the first episode essentially a movie was such a brilliant move. Cannot wait for more.

Well, I expected much worse, but the production is top-notch (huge respect to DogaKobo and Hiramaki Daisuke). Sadly that bad writing remains bad writing.
Cringe dialogues (entertainment industry is a lie!!! idols wear masks!!! omfg), cringe comedy with babies, 6 years old mc calls the producer to ask him why he cut scenes with Ai from a movie... is this really a seinen? It feels more like another cheap shounen show except of a few dark scenes.

I respect this anime and it's obviously will be aots for many people, but for me it's just way too boring to continue.
At least it's much better than Kaguya, so maybe Akasaka will once create the story that I'll enjoy.

Well let me tell you the fact: yes, entertainment industry has a lot of lie, but it is just a half part. Any artist must wear masks, let alone artists, even politicians wear masks.

Including these animators and producers. This is hypocritical. Sinners cannot throw stones at industries that are just as sinful as they are.

Oshi no Ko should not be allowed to enter the mainstream realm.

It'd be very crazy if that film director is both the twin's adoptive father and "biological" father. Most "who dun it" genre has the real culprit appear in the very early part of the story.

Hoshino Ai is a pretty cute young mother.
She love her child very much and taking care of them. She's a great character... But to bad.... Farewell.

At first, it's actually ridiculous for a guy that actually reborn to a soul that's already exist in Ai belly.... His twin is acceptable since she died long time ago... But for the doctor... And that's all that is so annoying...

But then, the story started to get more interesting! Aqua, the new doctor current life are an interesting mc. Just look at his 'evil' face during he wanted to find his father. Very loveable! The animation are top tier!

Alright, it's scary and it's actually happened to the reality of the idols... But I'm so curious to know why did Ai lover actually did this all.... And how his appearance looks like... Must be a blonde guy since the twin are blonde.

Interesting premise, an idol-obsessed doctor gets killed and becomes the newborn son of the idol he was obsessed with. And it's no surprise that his twin sister was the sick girl who was previously his patient.

I went into this completely blind and was expecting just another idol show with some family stuff thrown in. Wow, I absolutely was not expecting to see what we got. Japan's idol culture is so seriously fucked and twisted, these weird stans need to get a job and understand that these girls are people too, who frankly don't owe you shit. It'll never make sense to me how these people go around thinking the idols "belong" to them. RIP Ai, and I'm happy she was able to tell her kids she loved them before she passed.

Great premiere, and this shit was movie-length too. I'm invested now, can't wait to see more.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

As expected, it was incredible.

I read the manga and I knew the 1 hour 30 runtime would be perfect and I will forever be happy that they went for the longer episode and putting everything here.

I am being genuinely serious when I say this might be one of my favorite first episodes of all time from any anime.

A phenomenal first episode.
The realistic portrayal of the entertainment industry and idol culture is really good to see. I wonder how this will be received in Japan though.
At first I thought that the director is the stalker but thankfully it wasn't him. Also I doubt that Aqua and Ruby's father is anyone we've seen this episode already. But who knows.
The death scene made my stomach hurt. The sight of dead Ai with no light in her eyes absolutely crushed me. Now I feel sad every time I see her.
That stylized scene of Aqua thinking about revenge was gorgeous.
I really love the eyes in this. Especially the flashback scene with the producer and Ai where the stars in her eyes were black and empty and then they started sparking when she realized that "lying is fine".
I hope that Aqua and Ruby will tell each other about their previous lives at some point in the future.
11/10 premiere. Extremely looking forward to the next episode and seeing the OP visuals.

Wow what an episode, I felt like i was watching a movie. The rollercoaster of emotions went crazy.

Gorou is a doctor and a massive fan of Ai, one day Gorou sees Ai in the hospital as she is about to have a baby and they're twins! Gorou then promises to take good care until its time and when the time did come, it happened. Gorou went home that night and a stalker was watching Ai, Gorou runs after the stalker and ends up dying in the process. RIP Gorou.

Something then happens and Gorou is now inside the body of a child and now his name is Aqua, and Aqua now also has a twin sister named Ruby. The babies can talk and their vocabulary is on point, like i was shocked lol. Ai is ofcourse with an agency and now she is gotta do her idol job as well as taking care of the kids during the mornings/day? The agency's wife is taking care of the kids for the remaining of the day until Ai returns. An director is interested in what Aqua can do and tells him to give him a call whenever he wants to take part in a actors role, there Aqua meets another girl that thinks that she is the boss there but Aqua shows her the different side of his, and how? Just by being himself. The scene where Aqua & Ruby were dancing with the light sticks was funny and wholesome, It even went global trending that clip.

Now the most heartbreaking part comes, the stalker found out where Ai lives at the moment and came to her house with flowers while Ai thought it would be the agency's manager, the stalker then stabs Ai right in her chest and Ai goes down. Ai was looking forward to the dome performance. Ai holding Aqua by her side and Ruby behind the door, she finally could say to them "I love you", it broke my heart. The agency's wife then asked Ruby if she can raise her and I think Ruby agreed while Aqua went to the film director and asked him to raise him. A couple years has gone by and Ruby & Aqua has gotten older and wow what an transformation. Ruby says one quick goodbye to her mom and off they go.

Wow I never would've expect to watch this anime and actually feel heartbroken for the most part, but wow what an good episode for it being 90min long. Aqua is now out for revenge. I'm interested to see where this will lead towards.

I am at a complete lost for words, this is easily the best premiere of the season hands down.

The weird start aside, this was a raw look into the psyche & struggles of an idol and people in the entertainment industry as a whole. I see a lot of parallels between this and Perfect Blue, and Ai's murder made be speechless and was very heartwrencing. I was skepticle of the run time but I feel like it was crucial for the weight, themes and emotional resonance to kick in.

One of the best first episodes I have seen since starting anime and already AOTS material

When I first read the manga's introduction chapter when it released, I was more bamboozled than anything regarding my impressions. After sticking with it for a couple years and seeing how the anime brought the start to life, I do have more of an appreciation for this than in the past. It was a movie-length premiere for this series, yet I was pretty drawn in to the whole thing without worrying or thinking about the runtime. Doga Kobo absolutely smashed this out of the park with their adaptation from the beginning, all the way till the very end with the cliffhanger. The episode took its time to build up characters and relationships, the good and the evil in the whole industry beneath the surface. I've always hated the idol industry based on what I have heard (and although she wasn't an idol, seeing a happy Christina Grimmie be shot to death after offering a hug to one of her 'fans' in a meet and greet because she was dating someone else, made me hate the industry behind media celebrities in the first place), and this series captured the conflicting emotions really well. Spending time makes the characters and bigger moments have more weight, and boy did they by the end.

I don't want to ramble on much about the premiere but it definitely is one that leaves a very strong impression, whether you are a big fan or not and whether you feel like the series peaked early or builds even more on this to be even better. Thank god today was the first day of my break so I had time to really absorb all of this.

that was so good, oh my god?? although i was a little iffy about a movie length first episode, it works really well. sets up the story nicely. im so excited for the rest of the show.

i hope ruby and aqua eventually find out they knew eachother in their past lives. i also wonder if they'll ever reveal to the public that ai is their real mom?

besides the story itself, the art style and animation are outstanding as well. this is definitely going to end up being one of the top animes this season, and quite possibly even this year.

i was really left wanting more. i can't believe i have to wait a whole week for the next episode, but im sure it'll be more than worth it.

Holy shit that was good. And I read the manga, and the anime enhanced it!

I will admit that the premise is dumb af lmao.

"Wholesome Idol anime" lmaooooo

Also have been watching too much Mama Doctor Jones, you cannot tell how long a woman's been pregnant just by looking at the tummy! 20 weeks, my ass. What shitty-ass medical school did Sensei go to? Different women have different weight gain during pregnancy - some show a lot; some show very little.

I wonder what the narrative significance of their deaths are. Sarina died from anaplastic astrocytoma (brain tumor) and Goro-sensei died from head trauma. Whereas, Ai died from getting stabbed in the abdominal aorta (blood vessel leading to the heart).

Need to get back to reading the manga, only at 85 chapters out of the 115 chapters currently released.

I never realized how stupid Aquamarine's name actually is. ζ„›δΉ…ζ„›ζ΅·
ζ„› - A (love)
δΉ… - ku (long time, old story)
ζ„› - a (love)
ζ΅· - marin (sea, ocean)
However, this is not the Japanese pronunciation (which would be umi or kai). This is the English pronunciation of this kanji! Marine!

So Aquamarine has 4 kanji in his name (most names have between 1-3 kanji). One of which is repeated (ζ„›). One kanji is pronounced in English (ζ΅·). This is a kirakira name for sure!

Also ζ„›δΉ… (pronounced Aiku/Aikyuu or Megu) and ζ„›ζ΅· (pronounced Aika, Aimi, or Akai) are both female names! He has 2 female names combined into one!

Ruby's is η‘ ηΎŽθ‘£.

η‘  - Ru (lapis lazuli)
美 - bi ( beautiful)
θ‘£ - i (garment, clothes)

Not as stupid as Aquamarine's, for sure! Ruby is also an actual name. But the kanji is not common, (more likely to be η΄…ηŽ‰ or ηœŸη΄… - although those names both mean deep crimson red, and are pronounced using English word "ruby"). The kanji used are pronounced in Japanese at least.

Ai might have been better off using katakana or hiragana for the names lmao.
