| Hell no. The man even before the last episode when he was fighting for the danes was more noble than any viking. Even though he was a shitty person at times, everyone was at that time and his moral compass just like others was way more bleak. And the last episode of course made it better. |
| He simply did as a Viking with a contract would. Plus the slow revelation of his motives was done really well. |

| I don't hate him as a character; in fact, I think he's a fantastic character, and the fact that you felt all these emotions because of him only goes to show how wonderfully he's written. However, as a human being, he was an asshole. Specifically, the moment in which they massacre the entire village's families. That was very distressing to me. |

| For some reason I love Askeladd. He's something like my comfort character. Maybe because while Thorfinn grows up we also see Askeladd reveal more about his character. |

| I mainly disliked his crew for invading innocent villages, murdering, stealing, raping etc. just so they could make a living for them & their loved ones. I loved Askeladd as a character though, he was like the villain protagonist in the story. |
| #1 - Kira (Light Yagami) killed many honest police officers (including FBI agent Raye Penber and his wife Naomi Misora), deceiving Misa who decides to devote her life to Light, Killed Kiyomi Takada (known as Light's ex girlfriend). Even after all that he has 88K+ people like him as their a favorite character. (Personally I don't like him or hate him, but I kind of pissed at L for getting killed by him). #2 -Zero (Lelouch Lamperouge) killed countless peoples including innocent civilians and even his little sister Euphemia. (154K+ people likes him as their favorite character) #3 - Erwin Smith and his actions took many lives of his comrades or subordinates including civilians at the Stohess district. (23K+ people likes him as their favorite character) I am not comparing any of them with each other or Askeladd (20K favorites) but anime needs characters like them. He is not evil if the the world inside Vinland Saga is a survival of the fittest. Conclusion: I don't hate him. |

| I was just about to make this post. Yes, I hate Askeladd, down to my core. I thought he was going to have some redeeming moment because everyone seems to fawn over him but he never had that moment. It's crazy how his manipulative behavior is labeled as "strategic" and "crafty" but in all reality, he's just an asshole with dumb characters surrounding him. I haven't read the manga so don't spoil me! |

| He was my favorite through the whole show, so definitely no. His character is very well written and kept everything so interesting, so I loved whenever he came on screen. He wasn’t a good person at all, but that doesn’t change the fact how amazing the character itself was. |
| At the end of the day Askeladd is a terrible person that has probably executed countless people for his own gain. He very much is a person driven by survival and doing whatever it takes to survive and using people similar to how lelouch would. He gets a big reveal of his backstory near the end, but it doesn't really change anything other then showing he has tough past that has defined him as a person. He is the the real star of the show for the season and drives the show forward. |
