I do get the point that it's unnecessary but at the same time it's not that big of a deal watch the movie or series your choice, I don't understand why people these days make big fuss over small things

If I may ask, wt's wrong with anime companies (which runs on money, if u didn't know) tries to cash grab? If I remember correctly, ufotable has evaded tax abt 2-3 times now and anime companies already go over budget while making anime. So, if anything them remaking this is prolly more beneficial to the company people who didn't watch the movie.

The tax evasion has nothing to do with the whole studio. The fault is only with the founder. Stop spreading misinformation.

Man I don't know why I have to explain this to someone. It's very obviously a pre-quel to the Mugen Train movie. Since the movie is in fact canon, a show would make sense. The Mugen Train Arc is Part 1 of Season 2, and Part 2 coming in December.

Ufotable isn't even the first studio to do this fyi and this made you lose respect for the studio is hilarious.

The only others who did it was Dragon Ball Super but even that is a million times better than this because literally they did not reuse a single frame of animation in the Battle of Gods arc TV version compared to the movie.

Everything was reanimated from scratch and the only thing similar was the plot. The animation was completely different, even the locations were the fight took place were completely different.

Other was Boruto movie and TV version and even that was a huge upgrade over the movie with animation which was twice as better and even new character designs for the villian. 90% of the fight was new. So yeah.

Ufotable only gave us one episode of additional content which is just filler bullshit and the rest will be just the movie cut into episodes. The 70 new cuts of animation will be less than 2 minutes of new content. So yeah this is disgusting and greed filled bullshit.

BULLSHIT. Plenty of anime had aired in movies and then was recut into tv series: Yuuki Yuuna S2, Yamato 2199, Chain Chronicles, similarly OVAs like Break Blade and Gundam Unicorn had tv broadcast where episodes were splin in half.

Nope they are just milking the fuck outta demon slayer

that's a good thing. demon slayer source material is too short. if they can extend it in anime ver that's very good decision for both ufotable and ds

The length is fine, there no need for filler.

I cant belief how dumb the anime community can be sometimes....
This thing is actually pretty normal...Do people forget that made in abyss produced 2 recap movies with no orginal scenes and made fans wait for a long time just for the continuation?
Or even puella madoka as well??
Gundam unicorn, gundam origin....and many others???
(They reused all the frames too mostly and for those arguing about db, I think they actually dont realize the fact that there is a masssive difference in animation between the said series.. so its understandable and kinda dumb to reanimate an already beaitufully animated sequences)
If anything it raises exposure of the series and consumption becomes easier as well and i dont think there is any harm in that...

As far as money is concerned, Ufotable needs it...Its not like other studios who will overwork their employees to death without paying salaries. Its like kyoto in that regard(Or even better actually) and if by mistake their work has been recognised for once, whats the wrong with that?

NGL the haters are even dumber then the fanboys that i rarely encounter

Japanese companies would sell their soul if it means they can get some extra bucks. I don't think it's anything new.

Anime was it's best 20000 years ago, when cavemen drew art with real depth.
Modern anime is all garbage. I miss great old days of anime.

Why does it even matter? Doesn't effect you in any way and believe it or not, there are people that still hasn't watched the movie for multiple different reasons.

Yes it does. Imagine apple releases an iPhone. And a month later, without any prior announcement, they launch another one with better features and smaller price. Wouldn't the customers who bought the first one feel cheated?
It's dumb to defend big companies.

It's been a year since the movie was released, not a month. Don't defend companies who deserv the criticism they're getting but Ufotable doesn't deserv it. If you've ever bought a blu-ray of an anime you've watched the TV-version of then you know that every studio does this, it's just that people are raging their balls of this time for some reason. No one said anything when they released the first season in form of movies but with added scenes and new music like they've just done with Mugen Train arc.

I get what you're saying. But the movie was marketed as a "must see" and "proper continuation" of the series. They never mentioned they'll include it in anime. If you ask anyone in 2020, no-one would disagree that they need to watch the movie to see the story animated. That's called false advertising.

In case of bluray, people exactly know what they're getting. But if you bought the movie ticket, did you know that there would another continuation of the story? No you didn't.

i think they did it because most people don't watch movies due to internet availability issues and some just don't like to watch something 1 hour long . Although they can watch by splitting but it's just human mentality and that is what i also do some times.

Literally everyone watched the movie dude. It became the highest grossing theatrical movie because almost everyone watched it, multiple times.

Not only that it sold over 1.5 million BluRays. A typical movie sells less than 80,000.

To top it off it was shown two times on Japanese TV and was made available to stream on Netflix, Funimation as well as AnimeLab.

The TV edit is just a low effort cash grab.

Cool story. I still didn't watch the movie despite all that and I appreciate the series. I have a low attention span, so I don't really enjoy watching movies.

Plus we all know (including ufotable) that 99% of watchers won't pay for this one either. If anything, you should be glad of every single yen that ufotable makes with this "cash grab", because the anime industry is dog eat dog.
Even a sequel to a series like Demon Slayer was never guaranteed, let alone the chances for a third season.

Also, the 2nd Season won't come out later because of it, so there's even less reason to complain.

1. They probably think a lot of people didn't watch the movie because of the pandemic. Even if 99% of people interested watched it, they are doing it for the 1% that didn't for whatever reason.

2. If I remember correctly the movie was leaked in the PS Store before it was planned to be release and it was the only place it was gonna release IIRC so they might be doing it for the overseas crowd since it went mainstream here too.

3. For the money. It is a business they are running after all. More BDs to sell = bigger profit

Also has happened tons of times before. Either shows getting recap movies or Movies being reanimated at the start of a new season of a show.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most successful anime series in history, and its second season just got started. You can understand why all eyes are on Tanjiro right now as fans are curious whether the show's streak will live on. So far, season two is delivering as promised, but there are plenty of fans scratching their heads about season two. After all, Demon Slayer's first movie dealt with the Mugen Train arc, so why is this new season redoing everything?

Well, we have to break down a few things to find an answer. And to be honest, there are several answers to the question. Demon Slayer has been off television for over a year now, and its box office success cannot be overlooked in this discussion. If you do not know, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Train made nearly $500 million at the global box office. Not only is the film the highest-grossing movie in Japan to date, but it is the highest-grossing anime feature worldwide. Not even Studio Ghibli could withstand the franchise's might, and that money speaks volumes.

After all, Demon Slayer is insanely profitable, and the team at ufotable knows it. The studio wants to capitalize on the series considering its unbelievable popularity. By redoing the Mugen Train arc, the studio will likely encourage fans to check out the movie if they've not already for comparison. And for all the fans who have seen the film, you know they will want to see whether the TV adaptation does the arc justice.

This double-dipping gives Demon Slayer the opportunity to make more profits, and when it comes to anime, executives do boil things down to money. The team can earn more money by repeating the arc, and that is not all. Demon Slayer is a limited manga as creator Koyoharu Gotouge did wrap the series a couple years back. The anime is living on borrowed time, so the team wants to extend its life as much as possible. By repeating the Mugen Train arc, season two is extending the life as expected, so that will bring more profits to the anime's committee in the long term.

And finally, the simplest answer boils down to continuity. For years, anime films were often considered non-canon, so netizens weren't always keen on watching them. It seems like most everyone in Japan knows about Demon Slayer's film, but there are plenty who aren't in the loop both overseas and domestically. By redoing the Mugen Train arc, fans will be able to enjoy the entire story through the TV series alone, and this will benefit fans in the coming years. Films aren't as accessible as anime TV series, so the redo is forward-thinking to those fans in the future who may not even know a movie exists. So while it seems very redundant to netizens today, the show's executives know that profits and continuity would suffer without redoing the Mugen Trian arc this season.

Bakajanaino?
We definitely don't need these kinds of people in the community.

The series was made for people who have not gotten the chance to watch the movie. I even know a couple of friends who can't. And don't forget, ufotable is a company, and they prioritise money first.

And besides, they are adding more things to the series than in the movie (scenes, animation, and music) and it's just perfecting the movie as well.

If you don't want to watch it, then don't.
Now go watch your My Hero Academia and be a good boy and stop complaining.

It has extra little things like the original first episode and it wouldn’t make sense if they did that episode without the full arc, also if they never did this then rengoku’s death wouldn’t make sense to new non movie viewers

The reason for this is to give options to people. This isn't new in the first place. If you already watched a lot of anime, you know that a lot of studio already done the same thing (serializing a movie or making a movie version of the original series).

That series is for the people who couldn’t see the movie in their respective countries and refuse to see it on a pirated website(for example, me)and to also give a (very long)recap of sorts to the people who saw it when it was first released. And people like me who have have read the manga, I can’t say everyone , but me personally, I like the series more than the movie cause I can watch it weekly and not have to sit down and watch 2 hours of the same thing that I have already read.

That. I finished the manga, now I just want to take my time enjoying the story.

Just don't watch it for god's sake.
