That was an actually pretty wholesome way to end it. I still don't get as attached as other people to the characters, especially Shouta and Lucoa (who seems to be there just because of fan service). However their personalities started to blend in with me to the point where I started to care about them, their past and the message behind each episode.

Where the show shines is in its production quality. The animation was superb. There were a lot of really detailed shots both inside and outside battles. I didn't notice a single drop in any of the episodes. Plus, the soundtrack certainly didn't disappoint, mostly on the ending sequence that reminded of the opening one from Blend S.

There were some dull scenes here and there but nothing too aggravating. That is probably my main gripe with it, that even with all those positive aspects I can't bring myself to enjoy it more than I already do. Still, a neat recommendation, especially for those who have been waiting since the first season.

The Tanabata festival is near and seems like everyone is preparing themselves for a wonderful evening. Picking out yakutas and making some plannings.

Tohru's still working on the evening while the rest are having fun. Kobayashi asking Shouta if he likes Lucoa was hilarious. And from his reaction, it's a yes for sure.
Everyone got some screentime here and there and deepened their bonds.

Taki and Ilulu are getting closer and closer. He accepted Ilulu for who she is. Hopefully, he gets into the gang of the dragons!
Kobayashi and Tohru on the other side had a wonderful conversation. Kobayashi has been troubling herself with a ton of questions about wether she's enough for Tohru or not. But without her, there wouldn't be a smiling Tohru in front of us. Seriously one of the best and wholesome duo's I've seen.

Kanna-san and Forehead-kun are just enjoying themselves. Faf-kun and Takiya went to an otaku festival probably? A typical thing to do..

After festival moments, the pictures that Kobayashi took from the festival were hilarious. She's one hell of a photographer. Takiya's reaction was perfect for that.

Endig the season with a picnic and sakura flower viewing, the visuals will never amaze me. Just beautiful. The boys are playing games while Kobayashi is drinking sake. Elma learned something fishy but that made the group laugh.

The wrestling stuff was awesome. Lucoa vs Tohru was the best out of them all and of course, Tohru tricked Shouta-kun and defeated Lucoa with that. And as last, the wedding ceromony between our two brides; Kobayashi and Tohru.

I guess it was the ED playing in the background; beautiful.

Well well, season 2 felt like a rollercoaster. Tons of emotional moments but also tons of wholesome and hilarious ones. It was interesting to know more about the world of the Dragons and watching Elma and Tohru accept each other, Ilulu being treated as a child and what more.

The artstyle was just beautiful, as expected from KyoAni. But wow, they really went a level up with the animation and the fight scenes. I'm so satistifed with this season. The character development, fight scenes and perfect SOL moments made me score this with a high 9.

Going to put this as a 10/10 because they DESERVED it.

Man, this was really a wholesome note to end on. Loved everything and the opening kicking in was the cherry on top. Big sucker for that. Speaking of which, S2 opening proved to be my favorite this season, didn't skip it once.

Overall I was torn between a 7 and an 8.

Anyone point out the irony in the finale having a Summer festival while airing on the first day of Fall? Well maybe it's not irony, just unlucky timing? Anywho if I had a nickel for every anime finale I've seen that included flower viewing I'd have at least a dollar. It's no surprise it's so prevalent though, it makes for very beautiful visuals. This season of Kobayashi had plenty of those. It seemed to me to be a far more self-reflective season than the first. With much more of a focus on the past. That it was produced during a time of great tragedy for the production studio perhaps influenced this to some degree, or perhaps not. On the whole, I think it was an admirable effort, and a highly enjoyable season. Ilulu was a welcome addition to the cast, as I knew she would be having read her introduction in the manga long before this second season happened. I am going to give this a "mere" solid 8/10 though, as opposed to the 9 I gave the first season. Why? Well some of it is just the novelty of the characters wearing off a bit I suppose. A failure to catch lightning in a bottle like I felt the first season did. Some of it is the darker, past-centered introspective episodes. I enjoy Kobayashi more when it's light-hearted, and to be sure this season did have plenty of that too. But I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much on the whole. Still very good though, and I hope we get more.

Also, Lucoa was already the best character, but now we know she's objectively the strongest of the main group, outside interference notwithstanding. I suspected as much.

Great finale. I loved the scene where Lucao and Tohru were using 100% strength in an arm wrestling match and when Shouta supports Tohru Lucao dies inside xD. Nice to see Kobayashi and Tohru’s relationship get stronger but Tohru really is very fast at making decisions lol. A sudden wedding with no preparation. Hope we get a s3. This season was a solid 9/10.

Unpopular opinion: this was a disappointing season. The only real plot of any importance was the introduction of Iruru. They could've easily put Kanna's arc in this season by cutting out some of the fluff.

As a primarily manga reader, I like my anime to keep in line with the source. This last episode in particular was extremely egregious if anyone has read Ch 110-111.
I detest it when one character's story is cheapened/given to another, even if it's satirical.

Perfect way to end the season, but playing Aozora no Rhapsody at the end kind of makes it feel like the end of the series itself, I hope not! Really wish this could get a third season but that seems kind of rare for KyoAni, and I'd rather not see it get handled by a different studio and turn into another disappointing sequel. An OVA, a movie, or an adaptation of one of the spin-off manga would all be more than welcomed, too. Done with Maid Dragon or not, I'll still be eager to see what KyoAni gives us next.
Really, this season impressed me even more than the first. It's the perfect combination of cute, funny, horny, cool and heartwarming moments, with an amazing production. Ideal anime, I need more! 10/10

the real plot encompasses all the characters, Tooru mainly, s2 explored the characters more and the highlight was the evolution / return of the friendship between Tooru and Elma, and gave some explanations about the other world where the dragons live. Kanna's arc would be too rushed to put in here due to other issues that would have to be solved first (I also hoped but it was for the best), s2 was better than the first in many ways, but s1 is also great.

New KyoAni staff did a great job making this season. It felt very seamless from the first season. I'm honestly amazed by how fantastic this was. This was a fun run the entire way. I was a little scared that the new staff wouldn't be able to be "KyoAni" but they definitely are KyoAni. I can't wait to see what they do next.

This finale is the only right way to put an end to the season. What a fantastic episode with beautiful scenery and everyone having a great time! :3

The festival was astonishing and it's easy to see that Tohru and Kobayashi love each other, although their concepts of what love means are slightly different XD

Also, the picnic was amazing and that almost-done wedding had me laughing out loud, especially the runaway LOL

I enjoyed the whole season very much but this might be my favorite episode. I hope a 3rd season is done, although if it doesn't happen it's okay, as things "are perfectly fine the way they are" (in the words of Kobayashi) <3

Thank you all for joining me in watching this anime! :)

I felt the last part of the episode was a little underwhelming, great season in general but I besides the animation (That was ridiculously good) I feel that this season could be easily topped by a third season thanks to ending and how unfulfilled Ilulu's potential feels, especially now that the source material left is made of the most exiting parts, and only won't say it is worse than the first season because they are so different that comparing then doesn't feels rigth.

Isn't that what's season 1 is for? Establishing the setting and the protagonists. They spent the first two episodes on Iruru. Delving deeper into the world and furthering the relationships of the characters does not take 10 episodes.

They definitely could've done Kanna's arc justice while keeping a healthy balance of fluff.

This was a good final episode.
I really like the festival in this episode, brings a smile to my face, same with the arm wrestling scene and the wedding bit at the end with the original theme song playing. Overall as a whole, I really enjoy season 2 and Kyoto Animation amazing comeback to it, kinda sad to see season 2 ending. I really love Kyoto Animation works and I’ll always think that, hopefully in the future we’ll see more of Kyoto Animation amazing anime, all love to Kyoto Animation 💕💕💕💕💕.

I found it superior in many ways, the story isn't over yet so there will be more Ilulu oela ahead, this need to belittle s2 is irritating, from beginning to end it was very good, the highlight was Tooru and Elma 💚💙.

What a way to end season 2 on a high note, that's for sure. =)

The trip to the summer festival with most of the girls in their yukatas was really sweet and seeing them having fun was one big highlight for this whole season. Ilulu and Tohru's smiles to Take and Kobayashi respectively was super cute, though. =3

Then came the flower viewing party for the whole group, where Shouta, Fafnir and Takiya preferred to play Monster Hunter instead, as you do. Either way, it was full of funny moments, especially when Elma stripped off down to her underwear just to showcase a face painting on her belly, which made Shouta and Tohru laugh for different reasons.

The arm wrestling was pretty epic, with Lucoa getting betrayed so that she would lose to Tohru had me in stitches. After that, came Tohru's wedding declaration to Kobayashi, with both of them having their outfits changed into respective wedding dresses, before Kobayashi legged it. Having season 1's OP playing here at the end felt very powerful for many reasons.

Overall, this season was an absolute blast. It had that same feeling as season 1, which is NOT a bad thing at all, but with a better balance of drama with flashback stories on Tohru, Elma and Ilulu. I know there's more to tell from this series, but whether we'll have more seasons or not, who knows.

One thing for sure, is that this was a triumphant return of Kyoto Animation in T.V form and I hope we'll see more from them soon.

9/10. Welcome back, KyoAni! ^_^

Ah shit that first OP at the end caught me off guard. I want to rewatch s1 now.

Tohru looked amazing in her wedding dress. They all looked great in their yukatas, Tohru's was my favorite.

I loved this season as much as I loved the first one. Tohru and Kobayashi's relationship was great. Kanna was cute as always, so was her voice. Ilulu was nice too. I'm really grateful for her VA. She manages to make every scene 10x cuter.

Kobayashi was easily my aots.

This season of Dragon Maid was okay, but one of my complaints is that this season was hyping the appearance of Ilulu and yet she only got two episodes with a little bit of backstory in between. It just felt like once she got a job, she immediately got put on the sidelines to make room for Tohru and Kobayashi's development, Elma's backstory, and the usual shenanigans with Kanna. I'm curious to know how many chapters were adapted for this season? I know they anime skips around a lot, but I'm just curious to know how much of this season of Dragon Maid was spent on fluff compared to the manga.

This Season of Dragon Maid gets a 6/10 for me.

While first season was just good, this season was definitely better, probably because of the better balance of character development, lore, SoL and action. No disrespect for the earlier crew, but this crew with Nichijou vibes made this show much more vibrant and enjoyable for me. I'll look forward to a season 3.

As for the episode, it was really charming with the visual flair and Tohru close-ups. Is that ending canon? Tohru won't give up for sure.
And Saikawa was actually likeable this episode? Whoa, boy.
I miss George :( Felt low-key MVP.
Illulu and Take making each other adults will be a thing to look forward to, but I'd prefer he helps in solving her remaining inner dilemmas first.
Quetzie got done dirty by Shouta this episode.

And yeah, congratulations to the entire team! Keep shining, my favorite studio.

Eh, fairly standard festival and flower-viewing episode to end things on, taking the time to remind us of how these characters and their relationships have developed since the start of this second season.

It's hard to articulate why I feel this way, but for whatever reason this second season didn't quite land for me as well as the very-impressive season 1 did. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but it just feels like a little something, somewhere is missing from the formula this time around. Maybe the lack of consistent focus for much of the season, or how quickly Ilulu's troubles were resolved and she was all-but forgotten? At the very least, it's definitely not the animation and visuals where the fault lies, as Kyoani went above, beyond and then some this season: maybe I notice it more since this is Kyoani's first show back since the fire, but it is so impressive that Kyoani are able to produce such quality in that regard.

Kyoani, it's good to have you back.

Great conclusion to this season with that wedding chase. All the characters and their relationships got adequate closure.

I can't get enough of the Ilulu x Take scenes. She really has become one of my best girls along with Elma <3.

Elma WTF, I did not expect that lmao. What makes it funnier is that she stayed like that for the rest of the episode xD.

Takiya is a brave man... I guess Elma must have healed him afterwards lol.

Freaking Shouta betraying Lucoa xD.

And of course, all of this was just a prelude to the main event Tohru had planned.... a wedding! What better way to end the season than with everyone (minus Fafnir) chasing Kobayashi in a wedding dress haha.

And so it ends what was probably my favorite anime of the season. It had everything, action, comedy, feels and a top tier animation as usual from KyoAni. I don't remember liking the first season as much as this one though, so that might be a good excuse to rewatch it.

Hopefully we will have a third season in the future but for now we say goodbye with a Chu Chu Yeah!

What a way to finish the season strong. Summer festival and cherry blossom viewing (In summer? Would love to see that myself XD). How they managed to find a Yukata that fit Ilulu is beyond me, but either way the girls were cute.

Cherry blossom viewing had some interesting moments, Dumbbell nan Kilo can be proud on that armwrestle match. Great intensity until Shouta rooted for Tohru instead of Lucoa, which made the latter lose XD Elma was just straight up hilarious with her belly drawing.

The whole sequence of Kobayashi running away from Tohru after wanting to marry her was great. Elma attacking Tohru and the explosions happening around them in the same color as the cherry blossom was a nice treat to the eyes. Then again the whole cherry blossom was gorgeous to look at.

What else can I say than that this season was a treat. After the incident a couple of years ago, I thought we would have lost a part of what made the KyoAni shows so great, but KyoAni proved us that they came back stronger than ever. Welcome back KyoAni!! ^_^

Great Matsuri & Hanami episode, a "classic" ending for this wonderful second season of this fun and sweet series, probably even better than the first season (that was almost at the same level, I don't want to make rankings), for me it is AoS and deserve to be AoY for many reasons.

KyoAni is back at full power, the quality of animation and design is very high, and there are many funny episodes, Iruru is a very good add to the group of characters.
In general all the VA cast work is superb, the cute voice of many characters (Tohru, Kanna, Iruru, Elma, Saikawa etc.) is a "landmark" of the show.

The first OP as background theme in the end of the episode is another final tribute to the unforgotted and beloved staff that worked in the first season.

Hope we could enjoy another season of this wholesome series.

AAAAA I CAN'T BELIEVE WE CAME THIS FAR ALREADY!!

I'm gonna miss this show, I hope there will be a third season but soon. In this episode we got the classic festival with yukatas, and Tohru worked giving support to the maids. Elma was very hungry and ate everything she could, and if it weren't for the queue of the omerice she would eat it as well xD Tohru could have given one to her.

Kanna in the yukata was so cute, and Saikawa had a good time with her friend. She was also very cute, not only them but Elma and Tohru as well. Kobayashi could have worn it too, but it's not her cup of tea.

The last part with the sakuras was joyful, and Tohru did it all for Kobayashi. Elma's belly face was hilarious and unexpected, and the arm-fight would have a dragon winner due to their strength lol And I thought they would destroy everything there, but fortunately it wasn't the case.

Tohru's proposal was unexpected, and I even wished Kobayashi would accept. She had everything planned! Maybe one day Kobayashi will change her mind...

The animation was very good in this episode, especially the close-up scenes, and Aozora Rhapsody playing at the last scene was a great choice <3

They went with a lighthearted ending of the goofy wedding rather than the summer festival. Kinda really liked where they were going with the summer fest and think it woulda made a great full episode finale, but I like the wholesome cherry blossom get together as well.

Yeah, easily the best SOL anime in my opinion. This season was even better than the already strong S1. I'm really happy that Kyoto animation was able to deliver so soon on this level. Really hope there will be more.
Watashi wa a victim of cyberbullying. Everyday someone online calls me a "weeb" desu. Watashi won't stand for this. 26 percent of bullying victims are chosen due to their race or religion desu. I may look like a basic white boy, but deep down I am Nihongo desu. Watashi religion is anime. Anata wa bullying me because of my race and religion desu ka? Disgusting desu. Anata should be ashamed of yourself, racist pig. A baka gaijin like anata is probably jealous of my race and culture, cause Nippon is more sugoi than your shitty country desu. Watashi pity anata. You'll never be Nihongo like watashi. Educate yourself on nani a "weeb" is.

Ah, a festival episode to end off another great season of Dragon Maid! Haha, Elma's only goal was to eat all the food the festival had to offer. Please, Elma, never change. The relationship highlight during this episode was definitely Tohru and Kobayashi though, I'd love to see more of Ilulu and Take in later seasons. Hehe, what an ending! Overall, KyoAni did a mad job with Dragon's maid, again. Welcome back KyoAni, welcome back.
