It feels good to watch this weekly. If it had already finished airing, I would have dropped it out of boredom.

Nothing much to say, Fran content appreciated, however unnecessary yuri bait (let's not be too skeptic), unnecessary male pervert trope usage, unnecessary butt shot somehow make their way into this episode.

Let's hope the writer has something really fresh and engaging in store. If travelling is entertaining for the Ashen smug lass, it should be same for most of the audience too...

We're back to an banal episode about kids wanting to learn magic, like the first two. And like the first two, "Magic is friendship" is about as deep as it wants to tread, which is quite the contrast to the previous two episodes where it was attempting to be all thought provoking and fell flat on its face. It still paints a pretty damning picture of the main character herself. Righting wrongs, standing up to injustice, saving people in danger (that you helped put them in), these are not important things. But there are privaleged teenagers NOT in mortal danger who idolize and worship her? Yeah, she's got all the time in the world for that, An entire episode of it! Her helping feed a town to a hungry plant monster gets forwarded right past, but we can stick around for multiple montages about how much doofuses look up to her.

But even aside from the godawful writing beats, this episode served as a good example of how the production has fallen to crap. Compare the chase scene here to the first episode's fight. She flies down a corridor. Doesn't even make any special moves or anything like that, and then her persuers run into walls. This isn't played off as if they're the Keystone Kops, but that she is wowing them with her flying capabilities. Then it simply gives up entirely and turns to a bunch of stills. That's right, our big scene of her showing off how great and unreachable a level she is above all the rest is a montage of stills. Yawn.

Great episode!

Pretty relaxing and chill episode overall, but when those students showed up of the academy Elaina tried to tresspass, honestly thought she had messed up there. It was pretty cool that it ended up being a challenge set up my Fran to test her students. Great to see Fran again so soon. She and Elaina have such great chemistry together. What a fantastic and unexpected reunion.

Was really nice to see them both tutoring the students, even Elaina was doing it with a smile and lots of laughter. The studens are a bit odd though, asking for what color of panties Elaina wears.. Teenagers...

Seeing Elaina off again was pretty sad, let's hope that we will see Fran again very soon. We need more of Hanazawa!

I laughed out hard at your whinning about them being priviliged kids. The whole episode stablished that they are hardworking students that will eventually end up doing minial jobs like carrying passengers or load from place to place around the city, or become entertainers. They do it for the greater good of the masses.

"They are kids that aren't in mortal danger" So your reductive logic just boils down that she's not allowed to have any human interaction and she's supposed to be a devoted public servant, even when she's not even summoned in any disaster zone? OH boy, you should be a comedian.

It was nice getting a lighthearted magical school themed episode. Even better where Fran and Elaina have reunited.

Since it's been a few years, how old is Elaina supposed to be now? Wasn't she 17 when Fran taught her then left on her journey?

Prior to the episode: Oh god, what sort of depressing misery is this episode going to be about...

After episode: Awh, that's was nice. The change in tone for this show is giving me whiplash.

Those magic students were total brats, if you want someone to go with you, at least explain why FFS. I'm glad Elaina made them work for it. I'd have knocked them off their fucking brooms if they tried to catch me like that. I get they were under instruction to do it but Elaina didn't know that.

Of course, she likes that country best, the rest of the places she's been have been goddamn miserable. I'm surprised Elaina was willing to help those students out - after all, what's in it for her? "ShE's JUst aN ObsERveR!" Lol.

Just like a radio playlist, this episode is a calmer tone after a couple of more intense episodes. Each episode is still a stand alone and that is nice for folks who might want to dip a toe in and not take a full bath. The flying chase is pretty nicely done and I still like the art work a lot. The fish that kept getting frozen might not have enjoyed this one too much...lol.

Because, if you've had any sort of understanding of the plot by now, you would know that Elaina is someone who is more likely to help those who are acquainted with her or are familiar to her. On top of that, she likes being acknowledged, in which being a teacher naturally brings.

What a heartwarming and wholesome episode! This time I hope there won't be any bitchin- never mind... MAL never failed to disappoint me. Lol, there're still people hate-watching this show up to this point? I thought they dropped out at episode 3 or 4. Must be masochists or tsunderes.

As I expected, they'll shift between light and dark episodes turn by turn. Great, cuz eating the same thing over and over will get you tired of it no matter how delicious it is. Dunno the original LN is like this or just a quick thinking from studio but I appreciate it.

Inb4 a comment like "Wtf, they tortured the poor fish! How heartless and unsympathetic both master and pupil witches bitches! Dropped. 1/10."

Nothing dark in this episode, but also nothing of any substance. It was pretty laid-back, which is fine as long as it is entertaining. It was interesting to see what Fran has been up to, everything else was a wash. Something I thought was funny was when Fran asks Elaina what she likes and she can’t even say anything that could further characterize her. I have no idea why her character is so bland, yet inconsistent at the same time.

I said it in the discussion thread topic for the past episode or so, but the tonal fluidity of this series is so welcome and makes it feel so much more alive, authentic, and more true to actual life in every way rather than stagnant or artificially constructed. I love - almost reflexively and inherently - series that actually dare to do this and pull it off.

A great little sojourn this week in a sun-bathed city where time itself seemed to slow and just some good-natured catching up, exchanging of lessons and hospitality could be had. Reminds us that in any given place in this world, which could very well be our own, where something desperate, miserable, chaotic, or hellish is going on, also there is serenity and peace and time and space to learn and grow, discover and rediscover yourself, for the new pupils and "old" veterans alike. Love this world and Elaina's attitude toward it all!

Another really great episode. After the last 2 episodes depressing nature this episode is a welcomed one. And we got to see Fran-sensei again, I love Flan and Elaina's relationship.

I more than welcome the varying tones of this show, sometimes we are gonna get dark stories and sometimes we are gonna get wholesome stories like this episode. Such is the things a traveler like Elaina will experience. A whole bunch of different scenarios.

Lmao, Fran-sensei's lost manuscript spawned a bunch of Fran worshipers. I want to see Fran-sensei's reaction to that, she got merchandises, books and a freaking statue lmao.

Fran-sensei is basically the anime industries production committees and the magic users are the animation studios, toiling everyday, not paid a living wage and living mostly on dreams. you can bet your asses that elaina studios aren't getting any royalties on her likeness being used for those dolls that fran is selling.

Well, that's the difference between a character that knows how to interact with people, against an edgy kid with no social skills that would have kicked them at the first opportunity. You said it yourself, they were instructed by Fran to catch Elaina, she did the most sensible thing, to just play around with them. Fran didn't give them some sort of explanation, therefore they had no explanation to give to Elaina either, it was both a prank and an imposible task given by Fran to challenge her students.

Also how do they become brats just by following orders by their teacher? hmm?

It's a wholesome episode this time, huh. I missed Ara ara-sensei.

The last 2 episodes made me take everything with a grain of salt lol. Does that kingdom have a dispute with another kingdom and that's why they're wary of spies? And is that really it, do those magic users work for the kingdom with a measly or nonexistent pay just because they like that work? Aren't there any twists to that?

Lol. I actually liked this episode. There are various background workings and worldbuilding that we are not entirely sure of because Elaina really is not involved, she really is just a passing traveler, an ~observer~. I personally would love more of this formula rather than that of the last 2 episodes, where it's frustrating that Elaina does nothing even when she's already involved in the conflicts.

1.-Why you are so inflamed? she is your waifu, is that ? you ignoring or twisting all points that dont serve you.
Nothing is said about them being privileged being bad, just out of all the targets that might need help, she picked them. its not like they have no other teachers(unlike the girl from ep2),etc.They will end up doing menial jobs because apparently they want, not because for some reason their inherent max ability is lower or something like that, nope they just want to. will you deny that having the luxury to only work at jobs you want to without having to worry about food, etc is a privilege? Will you deny that there are many other countries in the setting they could go with their magic powers should they ever change their mind?

If Im not mistaken you were also the one who argued that her non-interference policy made sense because ” Sometimes the best course of action is leaving things to more capable hands or simply, not doing anything that might bring bad consequences not only for her, but to whoever she is trying to “help”.” you are saying she has such consideration in her mind when she does nothing but what of now? What if the person she teaches to lift water goes on to drown people or does something bad and some unreasonable king decides to hunt her down as one of the teachers? Im being hyperbolic but you are quick to ascribe depth to shallow actions when it suits you but equally quick to mock and such considerations when the results dont paint the main character in a positive light.

2.- The Quality is quality. Thats like saying pierrot studio should get a pass because no one else is rushing to animate the works they pick. accounting for size of the studio is like accounting for time show airs on, interesting but ultimately irrelevant. Its not like the chase was critical to the plot so if you cant do it, restructure around it. Shows key flaws are in its scripts and time allocation, which are not heavily dependent on the budget nor are they from a skill set a slife of life studio will be unfamiliar with.

It was an okay episode. At least mc didnt go full sociopath. If i'd been writing this eps though, I would of had the flower petal scene at the end suddenly awaken Elaina to the flower field from a couple od eps back having already taken over the town, and everything she was seeing was an illusion to make her feel all comfy and happy while the plants over took her. At the very last moment realisng it, especially given the flower talk build up. Now that would of been wild. Instead I'm left wondering how to feel about the show. Sociopath MC but these fluttery feel good vibe episodes. Which is it!! (Oh damn, Witch is it!! haha)

I won't read through all the comments so it might have been mentioned but it seems like the most interesting thing this episode revealed in an indirect way was that Eleina's mother is the witch about whom her daughter had read so much in her favourite book Niké's adventures and she was also the person who had teached Fran, which made sense of why she had asked her in the first episode to help Eleina.

Yea, the journey of Elaina back to its relaxing story again until some heavy dark theme of the story at the two previous episodes. Where was there, they tried to portrait out of the live of her former sensei, Fran, at her hometown as a witch lecturer.

Elaina had a little chance to be an assistant for Fran and let her learnt to be a great lecturer too. It looks like they had a fun time. Elaina simply enjoying her little time there to taught those young spirit witches some of her experience, told some her story while doing a journey, and such. Its really so cool, and simply easy to be following up as they just pretty much liking Elaina appearance. Yeah, who could even rejected Elaina's beauty and full of cuteness appearance? No body couldn't even deny she was a nice looking witch, and prolly easy to befriended. Even though in the first glance you might not liking her attitude. But its really understandable, just don't made her felt uncomfortable, everything would be alright. Because She just being in a cautious, and as a traveller, its really a suitable condition with their current situations ....

Unfortunate for the people on the country, especially with that students, Elaina still wanted to continue her journey. The last farewell was just great, and the conversation between Fran and Elaina made me wonder, they must be had some other chance to met each others again in the near future. Its a good bye, but it was not a forever end for them. The interesting part where Fran actually said that she was Elaina's mother apprantice and her mother was really Elaina's motivation, as its already hint at the first episode. Fran didn't mention it pretty clear, so i just found it kinda tickling me, i mean, about her expression, tho. Lol.

And yes, i really hope to see the story of Elaina too as a thick book. Like what Fran sensei did in her past and the result at Elaina's time, then like what her mother did too in her young age. The circle would pretty much back to its initial point again xD. But what about Elaina's end journey? Was she became them too? Or she kept travelling around the world? The answer surely cannot be happened in the meaning time, and the curiosity made me feel that its really an amazing progression ....

I was wondering why all those mages started chasing after Elaina throughout the whole city without giving any reasons, but it was Flan who put them up to it. It's cool she made another appearance in the series even if it seemed kind of short lived (this episode was a good break from all the sad stories we got so far). Light-hearted episode with a bit of magic training, overall pretty decent and sweet. I knew this was Hogwarts the anime. Jk, I am actually hoping to see more of the kind of storytelling we got so far with the previous episodes.
