I'm only playing Blue Archive and FEH (Fire Emblem Heroes), my phone's not doing so hot I'm only playing low intensive gachas. I used to play Guardian Tales and Lost Word, however GT is too intense for my phone, meanwhile I've fallen out of favour for LW.

Funny story, I was interested in Genshin way back when Mihoyo (at the time) revealed its teaser trailer at E3 2019. I wanted to play the game at launch ever since a Switch version was revealed. To this day, I never played it. Because the promised Switch version never came, and my PC at the time couldn't even run its website to download. HSR I've heard. I wanted to try it, but I don't have strong enough devices to run it and the same could be said to ZZZ, but I'm way more interested in ZZZ because of the aesthetics.

So your enjoyment of the series is that low? Just a few months ago and I'd be completely baffled as to why, as I was still catching up to current stuff. Now that I caught up, knowing the context, and with the whole KV Drama happened, It soured me as well to the point that I had to take a hiatus. I haven't played since around the time KV closed down. I was gonna return once the new Gehenna x Hyakki tourism event arrives, which is in a few days from now. Nexon also gave a letter to overseas players not to worry about the recent changes, which didn't really convinced me.


To rip the band-aid off, the event's story isn't anything spectacular. Rather, it was the implications and reveals that made it hyped. Hears what was revealed so far.

• Shanhaijing leans heavily into traditionalism. Which recontextualize two things.
  
  
  
  1. Rumi and the Black Tortoise Promenade are an outlier to the majority or even entirety of the school.
     
  2. Outsiders are apparently frowned upon, even when it comes to political guest like the Red Winter Office and SCHALE.
     
  
  
• Kisaki has been a target of a political assassination in the past through poison, which was caused by Kai of the Seven Prisoners. The poison was potent enough to stunted her growth alongside other health problems.
  
• Saya also had some recontextualization, the immortality potion gag she always wanted to create was the cure for Kisaki's condition all along.
  
• The antagonist Kaguya is a major traditionalist of the school. Even more than the Genryumon itself. She was incited by Kai to rebel because Kisaki was appointed as Student Council President while she was a second year and not a third year student, which is unprecedented.
  
• Speaking of Kai, she is shaping up to be as devious as Beatrice, a very different approach compared to the other 3 Seven Prisoners (one more was revealed between your hiatus and the event.) Kai would've graduated if it wasn't for her expulsion. Usually expulsions are a lengthy process in Shanhaijing, however Kisaki immediately banished her, which goes against the norm. Kaguya wants to bring her back just to expel her again with the proper proceedings. (That's how far she takes her policy, which is brain-dead, lol.)
  
• Finally, while the coup was quelled thanks to SCHALE and the RWO, the epilogue reveals there's more political unrest as a result of the coup, hinting at a Shanhaijing Volume.
  

Do you have any thoughts about what I said? There is probably stuff I'm missing. Seems Shanhaijing is getting a lot more focus. With the reveal of yet another Shanhaijing event with playable Reijo and Kisaki kind of makes me have hope for the game. Of course, the jury's still not out yet if the void can be filled.

I'm aware of the fact that Yume has the CH code, I'm more worried on how would it be justified in doing so. Unlike in Guardian Tales which does have playable characters that died in the story,

1. Sensei has never met Yume before.
   
2. A large part of adding a character is also adding stuff like cafe interactions, relationship stories, and the like needs to happen in real time. Even the collabs characters like the Railgun characters have justifications since all of the above had happened before that were sent back.
   
3. I'm gonna parrot this from you, I don't want this to negatively affect Hoshino's development as a character.
   

I can't see myself wishing she was playable unless these three issues were addressed. But if she were to be playable, it'll be a guarantee spark regardless of whether she's viable or not.

I'll admit that I can't think highly of Vol 4 and 5. The characters aren't the issue, it's that the plot hinders their full potential. I can admit that RABBIT Squad doing the 180 was quick, I would have like to see them still antagonistic until at least the end of Chapter 2. Or at least let the team divided on who like Sensei (Miyako, Miyu) and who doesn't (Saki, Moe). That'll make for a nice drama. It'll also be a nice contrast to the FOX Squad being polite and kind to Sensei.

I see. Thanks for pointing out all of your gripes with the story chapter. The way they handled Yume and her legacy was probably the one I'm disappointed with the most. I know it's a pipe dream but I really wanted to see her playable one day. I was wondering how would they handled her being playable if she's already dead. Is the strike-through at the word girlfriend a jab at Hoshino's sudden obsession of following Yume's will? It's very weird to me that Hoshino suddenly cares about following Yume will or not wanting to disappoint her to the point of hurting her underclassmen who she bonds over more than Yume. A lot of the stuff at V1C3 reminds me of JJK with Hoshino nonstop glazed as the strongest parallels to Gojo and Hina being a demon like Sukuna. Swap their hair colours and the resemblance is more noticeable.

What's your thoughts about Vol 4 and 5? I know they are good but it's a tough act to follow following Vol 3 and F. I had mixed feelings with the way Kaya went at V4C2 and the FOX Squad's potential felt wasted despite their stellar character designs.

Yep, I saw it as well. It is sad to see any potential IP canned. RIP Kaoru. Since our last messages, a lot of insider info have been revealed. Rumours and speculation have also reached its boiling point, including potential sabotage and poaching from DynamisOne which, if true, make sense as to why the hiccups BA had this year happened.


Honestly, you opened my eyes when you said that, and you're right. Almost every club in Gehenna that isn't the Prefect Team are played for comedic effect, and it's always the same gag, repeat ad nauseam. I don't mind the concept of one club (it's literally just mostly Hina doing the heavy lifting) keeping the school's chaos in check. But the jokes get tiring and repeated to the point if they are actually characters. I just want to know more about Gehenna's students. To give an example, if Haruna's overzealousness of wanting good food is from a result of a childhood that deprived her of such, then it recontextualizes Haruna which in turn makes her a better character without changing much of her personality. The worst thing about the Serenade event, is that the focus club was supposedly the Pandemonium Society, since the focus club is the main reason Sensei is there in the first place. Yet, a majority of the plot was from the Prefect Team's point of view. Last but not least, Makoto gets a lot of hate for being one-note and antagonizing the fan favourite Hina. I hope there's more to the Pandemonium Society in the near future.


This is also something I agree with. I used to be a Demon Slayer fan until I read the manga, and without Ufotable doing the lifting, I didn't enjoy the manga as much. Can you tell me more about the problems of V1C3, especially Hoshino's character assassination? You can spoil me however you wish.

Like you've mentioned before, some BA staff like Isakusan left Nexon a few months ago. Now just a few days ago, he alongside other ex-Nexon staff announced that they are making a new IP under a new company that has a lot of similarities to Blue Archive. Even other big artists like DoReMi and Mx2j have designed characters for it. This angered the Korean fandom as they believe they've been neglecting/sabotaging Blue Archive just so they make a carbon copy. A frequent example they brought up is Mx2j's designs this year having less quality than one of the girls he designs in Project KV (the IP codename I was referring to). The most noticeable being Q. Marina in comparison to her regular design also illustrated by Mx2j. Now they think that the subpar quality Blue Archive has shown this year is a result of them putting priority to KV and as a result, they are being heavily criticized by the eastern community but mostly the KR side. Ironically, the western community is mostly chill and hyped for the new project.

I wanted to summarize and share my thoughts regarding the entire ordeal this year after I played through the 3rd anniversary event, so I have a clearer picture on what you're dissatisfied with. After playing the Dress Hina event, I can see why some people would be tired with Hina as she gets a huge chunk of focus and content, especially when you can play as her in the side stories something which no other character has had before. I have known Rio and Seia for only 3 months, yet it feels like I've been waiting forever for them to be able to be recruited. I guess it does make sense that you can't recruit them as Narrative-wise Rio is gone into hiding and Seia is very frail from the get-go and can't be used in skirmishes, but it doesn't warrant Erika being excluded. Not like it's all bad news as we finally have Arius focus event and the newest Shanhaijing event is very great. V1C3 is officially complete, and it looks like the last portion was well received.

Well that's everything, here is the PV if you are interested my favourite is the silver haired girl. While Hina is a favourite of mine, it's not like she's my absolute favourite, and I have a ton of favourites that we can still talk about. Aru, Hanako, Saori, Himari, Rio, and of course Mika just to name a small few. I haven't experienced the bad Hina fans that you're talking about only I do know that every popular character have their bad eggs. I thought my opinions regarding the current state of BA were irrelevant but here they are.

Originally, I wanted to finish catching up on BA after the Dress Hina event and do some slight research on the JP side before sharing my thoughts about your post two months back, but regarding recent events, I don't believe that's necessary.

I see. It seems I struck a nerve twice in one message. What can I say, I'm a huge fan of Kuudere and Hina scores all of the points. I guess I can apologize if Hina fans made you uncomfortable/annoyed. Characters in S and A tier are all in the same ball park, so she won't be the only character I'll gush about. Aru is my personal favourite, though. Seems like the perfect blend of being competent and being someone like Team Rocket. On the plus side, I can now understand why you threw everyone for Mika.


What are you problems with BA (JP)? If it involves spoilers, you can talk about it. I don't mind.

I was impressed enough with the Blue Archive anime that I decided to play the gacha game after putting it off for so long. I somewhat managed to recently complete all of the story volumes and immortalized events I was able to do.

I decided not to tell you until I have completed my first tier list. But just a quick warning, I still have a lot of gaps on my BA knowledge, especialy on limited time story content.
