| Yeah, the animation really stuck out as poor this time around. And I feel like I don't usually notice those kinds of things. The most glaring one was when the white-dressed three-person tower fell off the rope, and the two clowns are once again seen dragging the colorful red clown off the stage afterwards. Not sure why they cut the quality so thoroughly in this episode. I still love the stories, though. Even though I recognize all of them from the manga series, so far. ^^ Hirugiku said: The other question tho is why the hell was the guy in the second story even shown ,he was commenting how beautiful she was on the side while watching the show, but it didnt go anywhere, i thought he would try to help her, but no, he just kept sitting in one place lol. In the manga, I believe he goes to the circus with his little sister, and it ends with his little sister coming home alone in a panic, talking about how he's joined the circus to try and get closer to Lelia; it hints at how all the previous performers were also completely regular people who were mind-tricked into joining the circus by Lelia's beauty, and how the circle continues in that fashion. This is a common thing for Junji Ito to do; the kind of "mind warp" he puts the characters through, that isn't directly visible but works more like a hypnosis, where they're tricked into thinking that "this is what we want, this is what's best for us". The Enigma of Amigara Fault is another well-known story that uses a similar plot point. |

| The first story was not bad at all, just average. The best moment was when the father decided to walk like a crippled bug :D The ending was kind of disturbing. The circus segment was average at best. Awful animation and really simple plot. After second death it was obvious what is happening and how will it end. This half of an episode could be used for some better story. This one was really basic. |

| Loved the first segment, legitimately made me look behind me in my dark room at night. I thought the second segment was poor in comparison... The art is starting to bug me. I didn't notice how inconsistent it is at first. Also, they used some recycled animation and that was lame too. When the three trapeze guys fell and the clowns drag the "bodies" away it is just the footage of the red clown getting dragged back stage again, I thought I rewound it or something since you don't usually see recycling like that nowadays. |
| That can't be called a family tree because that's pretty much just one straight line. Very creepy... The circus was hilarious but the animation quality degraded way beyond episode 5's looking more like Gakuen Handsome or something though *^* |

| omg the first story really gave me goosebumps, it was disgusting and creepy! I thought it was really a caterpillar but it turned out to be a head.. the second story was uncomfortable to watch especially the knife magician part. |

| Incredible screams from Risa in Honored Ancestors. One of Junji Itou's very best horror short stories. 8/10. Great adaption even though I expected the heads to look a little more natural in connection to the present host. What I love about this story alone is the fascinating concept of ancestory living on in someone's head like a centipede, along with the trauma and amnesia from the girlfriend and demise to accept her fate to make a new heir to keep their knowledge alive. Overall, again, from the cast and the soundtrack is excellent. Sure, the out-of-sync lip flaps continue to be a flaw, and the still-frames being dull is a somewhat fair critisicm, but I love these adaptions regardless. The whole tone is there. 8/10. ... Aside from Souichi's voice actor as a whole, and a few things being cut out from each story, this is the first adaption I'm slightly disappointed with. In the manga, to me, The Circus Comes to Town was very disturbing from the reality of hidden death from the ringmaster. The fact that they removed the early negative reactions from the crowd easily realizing the performers were most likely dead was underwhelming in how they only started the negative reactions from the crowd later. Excluding the male protagonist's little sister, seeing the corpses in secret while searching for her big brother and crying to mother informing her that he went off to the circus is a little disappointing as well. The concept of a demonic ringmaster causing performers to die in their acts with his power to steal their souls and manipulate people to join with the promise of marrying the beautiful tight-rope walker is great. I personally loved the odd slow distubring realization from the crowd, the deaths, and the end with the little sister. Unfortunately this adaptation ruined the original a bit. Thus 5/10. If not, it'd be a 6/10. |
