I like how Kashima misunderstood and thought that Hori wanted to be the heroine. xD

Kashima: 'Here, wear my skirt!'
Hori: =_= 'Are you doing this on purpose?'

Ah, speaking of shoujo! Should this be classified as a shoujo or shounen? For me, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun dances between the line that defines the two genres. It's definitely not shoujo, but I can't really say it also can be attributed to shounen, since the shounen I've seen so far are more concentrated on action, not drawing manga. Perhaps, like anime such as Barakamon [ also about art ], it shouldn't be classified in either. Just because there's shoujo manga in the anime, it isn't a shoujo, and just because it's not shoujo doesn't mean it's shounen. Indeed, I think at many times it pokes fun at both shoujo and shounen.

I don't personally know how accurate of a portrayal this anime is in terms of the manga-creating process. Before watching this, I had always assumed that the entirety of the manga was completed by probably one person, and maybe two more people to ink, shade, and, if necessary, colour. But Gekkan Shoujo shows that it's a long and arduous process that requires the help of many talented individuals who will inevitably come into conflict with each other, every now and then, about the content of the manga they are producing. GSNK portrays it in a lighthearted, humorous way, but I imagine that it must be quite a frustrating process to create the "male high school student Bible".

I mean, all that about "faking backgrounds" is something that I know very well, as a person who focuses mainly on character drawings and considers backgrounds to be a secondary element in the drawing. It's so easy just to put a screentone and a simple gradient, but it really is much more impressive when you put effort into a background, even though a reader would probably take little notice of it. The background sets the scene; it's something that enters the subconscious and doesn't really come into acute notice unless it's out of place. Though I'll admit, it's much easier just to put a plain colour instead of drawing many trees and such. There are plenty of tutorials online on how to fake a good background, giving the illusion of having a complicated scene while in fact it took about fifteen minutes and a few brush strokes.

......

much text dude lol xD .... btw in the spring season was the anime called
Mangaka-san to Assistant-san that can kinda shows a similar way about
how mangakas works (if you ask how is the anime, can say that is very
funny but so much ecchi), so with Nozaki-kun we can confirm that is nearly
true (but how you said it, it is lighthearted unlike real life).... and can't be
shounen neither shoujo since said that is one of them means that is for a
specific public the series which is for everyone.

Hori might get jealous Are you mocking me part was hilarious. Kashima thinking Hori would want more attention If he get treated like a heroine. They first meet had me like XD. Nozaki is getting bland to me.

This might end up being my favourite comedy anime of all time. I just cannot stop laughing.

And also, a quick question. During the practice scene where Kashima and Hori were saying some lines, did the music playing in the background sound like a song from Dragon Quest 8, or is it just me? If anyone has played that game, can you reply and tell me if you came to the same conclusion? Thanks.

So much win in this one picture

Mikorin and Kashima putting on a show case. I loved the fact Kashima played a long and out performing him. Nozaki and his boxes, can't help but laugh at his trump card for background scenes

Haha! Kashima just wants to be the prince. Hori will forever be the princess. Haha!
Can't match the height without those boxes. That 'bull' ride with Hori scene, was classic. Long time for Hori to find out Kashima was a girl. Going in the girls' room.

Kashima wins you over, Mikorin! Kashima and Hori's relationship is so interesting, both both like each other so much that they don't.

Damn boxes! Nozaki and his boxes! hahahh

Kashima and her weird interpretations, can't blame her tho xD

Aren't you cute Sakura, wanting to learn backgrounds just because you want spend *ahemdirty* nights with Nozaki? :p

"'This isn't a horse, it's a bull." Man, Izumi-san is a genius, she has made one of the best jokes ever.

Hori was once again enchanted to see Kashima, let my ship sail!

Please next episode finally have some Sakura x Nozaki (although I am 90 percent sure it is a troll title)

On a side-note, Nozaki is a masochist.

In this episode : boxes, boxes everywhere...

Kashima was glorious with that bull mask. Dem sparkles.

I honestly thought for a moment that Hiro had feeling for Kashima when retired her mask. Naaahh, just a sudden scenario idea xD

In the next episode, it look like it's the return of the sailor uniform..!

Disappointed that only a few scenes from chapter 24 was adapted here (especially since the rest of that chapter just got even better), but a very hilarious episode! The boxes scene was funny and the rodeo/bull-ride scene came out brilliantly.

Kashima and Hori, platonic or not, make the best couple imho

Them damn boxes! This show is a complete riot!
Every single minute is epic, not a second wasted on pointless crap (well.. it's all pointless, but you know what I mean) XD

Boxes! Boxes! Boxes! Hori is now officially afraid of boxes!
And how the hell does one mistaken a bulls head for a horses head anyway?

I love how Kashima loves Hori so much that her obsessive meddling is killing him. Ah, the power of love and a hella lotta misconceptions and misunderstandings...

I gotta go back to the manga now. This is just too good.
Comedy of the season, maybe the Year!

Can we have like a 100 episode extension?

Seriously it is so fun to see that ALL characters have half common sense and half a total lack of it.

Kawashima is really a big fat lol, so he wants Hori to notice her in a positive light, but she still treats him with an air of "prince" towards him. Really she should know her place if she wants to achieve something..........

Kind of surprising to see those two are the highest ranked couple of the series '-'

What's this a funny episode on Nozaki-kun? I thought I was watching a different anime.

Well I guess it's not that surprising since it was centered around Kashima and Hori, those two have such great comedic chemistry & timing unlike the main casts. The bits that involved Nozaki was still predictable as always (I knew he was going to bring out a box during Hori and Sakura modelling) but thankfully he didn't get as many parts as usual. Kashima carrying Hori with a bull mask was AWESOME!
