Damn was this movie awful, only good thing is the soundtrack that made it into the anime, other than that, story made 0 sense.

I needed two days to watch it.
It was so bad that I had to stop many times not to enrage how predictable, cliché, badly written on the film was and so on.

This is not HxH, they used many element from the chara development of the series to make the characters interact with each other but never with the courage to add something new. It's a damn non-canon movie, they could do anything... they could create an Hatsu for Zushi with the base that he is a Manipulation-type.

Really, Togashi's HxH main value is they way it's written, this was just a shonen movie with the art of HxH, no more.

I'm not really surprised that a shounen movie wouldn't live up to its original material so this is to be expected as the usual these days. One of my problems with this movie is that not even the villians introduced in the movie really developed at all. They just appeared, create havoc, shared a sob story (which wasn't very good), and died. I'll give this a 6/10.

I actually enjoyed the subtitles more than I did watching the movie. Probably a result of clumsy Japanese to French to English translation, but it was pretty entertaining.

Eh that awkward. It felt like HxH but then again it didn't. The fights were pretty generic although I did like some of the concepts of "On". The villains were pretty blend though.

I think I'll rate this 6/10. The whole friendship stuff added to this feels awkward.

I thought it was a pretty enjoyable film. :D I love the little bits of characters acting in ways we'd expect. Like Pariston being all chill about what's going on. I smiled about seeing Gon's fishing rod again. And he made good use of it too, loved the elevator bit. I had a lot of warm and fuzzy feelings about Gon and Killua from this.

Exactly, it was even worse than Phantom Rouge because this time we actively had people ignoring their own character traits to get the plot moving.
Kurapica rejecting On, Hisoka not fighting one of these guys that should give him a boner, etc.

The only good thing this movie had going for it was a return to the Heaven's Arena.

Kind of disappointed Hisoka didn't fight. Oh well. Hopefully they make a movie next time that includes Hisoka fighting (like the volleyball match!)

I think this one is better than the first movie... since the last time they only have the basics of Nen, but now they have the Nen moves after Greed Island.

I think it is better written than the first one... just disappointed that we got another nakama power prevailing!

Why does it have to be so bad. I really hoped it would be at least a little bit good, but it wasn't. Everything was bad. Even characters from time to time didn't look like themselves. It was way too long. The fights were bad were long and boring and the ending song was extremely bad. I don't know why, but all the anime movies based on series I've ever seen were bad (perhaps except Gintama)...

The movie is good but im quite confused.. Phantom Rogue movie was after york new city arc and before greed island arc because Gon and Killua doesnt improve their nen yet.. And there this was last mission.. Hmmm is it before the chimera ant arc? Or maybe some filler within that arc? It cant be after thr chimera ant arc because Netero has died in that arc.. Can someone answer me or clear my mind? The story should be continuous..

Chronologically, this movie should take place right after Gon and Killua meet Kite. There is an interlude where they are searching for the whereabouts the Chimera Ant Queen and that is when the movie takes place.

Well it was nice to see HxH world and characters but while watching this movie I had to keep in mind that this is some alternative universe where anything can go crazy. I mean the final fight with Gon's random power up was so stupid and completely did not fit the story. (something similar happens in Chimera arc but there it is well explained and is true to the rules of Ren that we get earlier ,here however it's random power up up to Netero casual level and one-shooting main villain. Really!? (Couldn't they simply keep it more real and let Netero pwn the guy?)

Oh well I liked that fight with Gaki as it didn't add anything that was completely unreasonable and in general it was a nice fight.

Even if it didn't carry the HxH tag, it's not a good shounen, but it's even worse because it does carry said tag. Nostalgia factor and the fact I felt Gon's character was on point, is the only reason I didn't give it below a 5.

I liked the movie for the most part, except for the friendship power-up at the end. But yeah, it feels like a typical battle shounen movie spin-off of the anime. Phantom Rouge was more original and interesting, though.

Better than Phantom Rouge movie by a mile. But, the nakama power is sooo strong. I couldn't watch this movie without laughing because of its atrocious moments. ( fanservice )

I heard the word " tomodachi " here in this movie more than all of hxh's episodes combined. The animation in the hxh series is sooo freaking better, no, the animation in the series is too great to compare it to this movie. The hell's wrong with you MadHouse? Did ya get mad? LOL

What the fuck was "On" ?! Lazy concept. I-I..oh god..Netero became princess peach.

Kurapika was just like there. Leorio does nothing again and Gon takes the cake again. Deus ex machina!

THe ending theme, Hyorri Ittai, was much better than the movie itself.

Killua << can't we just give this guy a movie that shows his badassnes? THough I like his friendship with Gon, his awesomeness is being wasted by being a follower.

Well I just finished binge watching hunter x hunter in a week and a half (of the life I have), and then watched this movie.

How to summarize it. Well Hunter x Hunter had a slightly different feel to other shonen, being that the characters have to train and work for their power, and they are are constantly shown to have much to learn and room to grow.

However this movie is more of a generic shonen. Our two main characters must beat the evil they are no watch for. While their mentors who could quite easily help, just say, the kids will be ok... As they use the power of love and friendship to get a magic power up and beat the enemy.

While it was enjoyable enough, I felt it sort of went off track of the hunter x hunter formula.

At least this movie didn't try to assure us that it's canon like Phatom Rouge did! I don't care what anyone tells me, there is no way this is worse than that piece of garbage. Although On was pretty unimaginative, but at least it made some sense. I liked how Netero had implemented counter measures for On into his Bodhisatva. It made sense in the canon of this movie and thematically as well. Unlike the nonsense Illumi puppet and eye powers in the first movie...

And here I thought the first movie was bad. Holy shit, this was SO much worse. When the animation of a movie is worse than the TV version, it's obvious that this was just a pathetic attempt to cashgrab whatever they could before the series ended. So pathetic by Madhouse. 1/10.

This is basically a typical shounen movie... A random enemy from the past comes, main characters get involved, then solved with a decent final fight. This movie is good enough for a shonen anime movie.

I'm guessing this takes place after meeting kite but before meeting the actual chimeras.

Now it wasn't a fantastick movie, but it wasn't bad as many make it seem.
Unfortunatly the character and the plot where a bit generic and there wasnt a lot of development... but people are f.cking stupid in saying the animation was worse.
Yes the chara designs were simplified and in some talking scenes were a bit off model, but the actual fight scenes (Animation wise) were amazing, the animation was realy smooth and complex, with some realy great effect animation, specialy during the fight beetwen the fire guy and gon and killua, you guys don't know anything about animation.
As for the combats, the problem was another.. and it was the fact that a with the previous movie, it was action focused and not about the strategy
