I hadn't watched Ippo in years until last week when I watched New Challenger for the first time. It uplifted my spirit in ways I can't describe not to mention how hard I'd laugh with between Aoki, Takamura, and Itagaki's family. It took about 4 days to finish New Challenger and I watched every single episode of Rising right in a row until the final one came out (I finished the last KnB episode during the marathon though) and I pray I don't have to wait 3-4 years for a new season.

Those Kamogawa body shots were some of the most brutal punches to watch in the entire series. I loved the whole epilogue with Nekota and Yuki; it felt like a fitting way to end it. It just sucks the original voice actor wasn't able to do it. I loved all the fights , but if I had to rank them in terms of enjoyment, Aoki is #1 for me. His new special move almost made me piss myself.

1. Aoki vs. Papaya
2. Takamura vs. Eagle
3. Ippo vs. Sawamura

Wow, so much feels for a finale :')

Hajime No Ippo: Rising really deserves a 10/10, the animation was excellent ,the fights were epic and the OST was pure eargasm, so this season it was the perfect anime that can be expected from such a great manga. I hope a 4th season will be announced ^^

The animation of the last fight was just incredible.
It probably sounds weird to ask for a 4th season, but I really hope it will come.

9/10.
The animation and ost were top notch, and the fights were just epic.
The only problems I have with it is that it only was about boxing, it felt rushed (compared to the manga) and it didn't had the same amount of comedy like in new challenger.

I would have given this season a 10/10 if the series was more faithful to the manga with Ippo vs Shimabukuro, kept the story behind Aoki's look away, the story of how Sendo and Sawamura first met, and the revelation to why Kawabe cares so much about Sawamura. I felt those were crucial moments in the series.

What an amazing emotional intense another season from Hajime no Ippo, I'm really really sad that it might take them years for another season but as usual they do make it more than worth the wait...A SOLID 10/10, other sports anime take notes. Scratch that, ALL ANIMES TAKE NOTE!

I can't give less than 10/10, you know Ippo might be predictable sometimes but that's not the point, it's HOW they fight and HOW they deliver the honest feelings that matter. And they completely conquered my heart with this. Also technically this is a whole new level, I have to congrats Madhouse once again for their flawless job. The shivers that went down my spine especially during the last fight were indescrivible. Probably one of the best arc of Ippo, will read the manga anytime soon.

Another great season of Ippo. The fights were good, lots of manly manliness and unstoppable determination. And I liked the side story at the end better than I thought I would. It really turned out to be an essential part of the story as Genji's character has kind of been on the sidelines until then and we didn't really know much about him.

Now we just have to wait 5 more years for the next installment, haha. Eventually I do think this whole story will be animated, which is really cool.

Thanks for this!
Those body blows were intense. He shattered his fucking ribs! Based Madhouse for the cool style there.

What's there to say really? Another amazing season of Ippo. I always expect a high level of consistency and quality to the anime adaptation, and Madhouse never lets me down. Pretty cool that the original director returned for the Kamogawa arc too.

And now we wait for Ippo's inevitable return. Even if it takes years, you know it'll be back eventually. :)

Can't believe it's over already, but all good things come to an end. I'm just really hoping we don't have to wait 4-5 years for another season. Ippo to me is one of the best sporting anime's out there and I want to see more of it. Easily a 9/10 for me.

P.S Those body blows were so good they made my stomach hurt.

I feel that Kamogawa was rather selfish. I know he wanted Nekota to be happy and feels (in a way) responsible for his punch-drunk syndrome so he thought he was atoning in some way. But Yuki didn't have long to live and since he loved her in return, I don't see why he couldn't grant her wish to be with him. Nekota, despite his syndrome, was able to live to a ripe old age and could have many other opportunities for love that Yuki didn't have.

The drama, directing and animation for this arc have been awesome. I feel as invested in these 2 fights (with the same american) as the other major fights in the series. The Tekken is one awesome weapon but it's tremendous power meant that its user would have a short-lived career. It's the Sakura of punches.

I can't believe the most emotional fight for me happened during a flashback, I NEVER enjoy flashbacks. Nekota pointing out Ippo would be the one to carry Kamogawa's will brought the attention back to Ippo as the main character very nicely and felt like a great way to end for me.

Oh please, let there be another season.

Fantastic season, glad to see it was just as great as the previous ones. Wasn't expecting an arc dedicated to Nekoto and Kamogawa's past which was a pleasant surprise learning more about them. The fights, story and ost were great as usual. My favorite fight of the season is definitely Ippo vs Sawamura which felt the most intense and as for the arc with the best story I would say the last one takes the cake. Can't wait for another season whenever it gets made :)

10/10.

Kamogawa's fight was probably the best and most emotional fight I have ever seen in terms of sports anime and in the Hajime no ippo series lol.

The boxing match sorta reminded me of Rainbow: Nisha Rokubo no Shichinintachi in a way if anyone watched it.

Well, I wouldn't say "sell." Keep in mind this anime is aired at like 1:30am in Japan (I know, I live here and actually woke up past 1am just to watch it) so sales may not be quite a priority. The manga is still in publication and still has stories that need to be animated. I hope they bring back Nishimura as a full-time director from now on.

Oh damn I was late finishing this but... better than never.

Wow the old geezer punches back then really was something! At the cost of wrecking his fists though. X( So that was the half-fulfilled promise? Ippo has a lot of expectations to fulfill then. Forget about Masaru! LOL Nekota still gets to me. XD

Still 8/10 for me.

I am moved to tears. What a way to end the season. Brilliantly done, albeit it was short. I am very much going to miss the whole Kamogawa troupe and I am wishing with all the energy that is left of me after finishing this to have another season really really really soon. I can't wait for another half a decade again. Seriously. I also love the subtle suggestion of Ippo's world domination soon enough at the ending. I have my fingers crossed until the next series.

I am off to the manga and hope my cravings for the open ended ending be fulfilled. :D

Amazing experience, Hajime no Ippo thought many things to people including myself and it's the most said phrase in existence if anything. --"Don't give up". It's rare seeing a series not getting boring after seasons pass and maintains fresh still.

You can try reading the manga if you want to know what happens next. I say, there are 45+ volumes of material still left and this season cut out a lot of material which was important (like how Sendo and Sawamura first met back in high school; Sendo revealing to Sawamura why Kawabe cares about his so much; Imai vs Ippo spar 2; further elaboration on Takamura's eye). The manga is really great and probably my favorite manga right now with Rurouni Kenshin as a close second.

This is eXACTly what I was waiting for in Takamura's match. This ended up being much better than Takamura's rage over a weaker eagle. SHEEEEEEEEIT THAT WAS SOME RAINBOW SHIT DAWWWG. AMAZING.

BEST motherfucking season of Hajime no Ippo. This has all the emotion that S1 didn't have.

That was a great season of Ippo. I was initially questioning the final flashback arc involving Genji and Nekota but its display and range of emotions was absolutely spectacular especially in this final episode. I loved ending this season with a slightly different type of boxing story than we're used to. I should learn by now that Madhouse (almost) never fails to deliver. In the future, I do hope to see some hints about Yuki-chan and Nekota's life in the mountains after they left.

Now, the wait is on for more Ippo. Hopefully it's only a couple years...

Ahhhhhh. The Genji/Nekota arc was fantastic. I would have loved this entire series if it was just about them and the girl too. I cried when Genji and the girl separated on the train. That was the fourth time this series made me cry. Also, Miyano Mamoruuuuuuuuuu oh yes. Perfection. I feel like the Genji/Nekota arc should have been near the start of the entire show. Would have made Takamura's world belts more impactful.

Anyway, Takamura vs. David was fun to watch. Ippo vs. the guy (I forgot his name but he really loved meat) was interesting too. Miyata vs. the other guy (I forgot his name too) was great. Yeah this was a nice season.

So, I'm done all the Hajime no Ippo anime seasons! It was fun, although not my favourite sports anime. Should I read it? Hmm, decisions decisions..

Favourite characters: Sendo (my favourite Osaka boy), Miyata (hnnnng), and Takamura (although it's a hate/love thing yo)!

Gen-chan's fight felt not as awesome as Ippo's or Takamura's.

On the end of taking 2nd belt Takamura was comparing Eagle to Ippo's way of fighting and it was freakin cool, but the old days were meh...
