Ryuuko and Satsuki went from barely being clothed while fighting to being completely nude XD.

OST was especially great this episode.

Senketsu/Junketsu switch-o-ru.Ryuuko looks way better in Junketsu than Satsuki tbh, can't say the same for Satsuki in Senketsu.

Dat cliffhanger doe.Inb4 intense battle.

SHIT IS HAPPENING. Holy shit i liked Satsuki more than Ryuko now. She was just too badass. *__*
That mad Ryuko though. Also, Satsuki wearing Senketsu was really predictable but hey, she looks good on it.
Dammit Nui, what a troll. (but i still like her anyway, haha.)

Yet another amazing episode. I'm just having these holy s*** moments since episode 17. Each episode is so damn epic.

LOL the S.S. Naked Sun made me laugh for some reason.

Now it's Satsuki vs Ryuko round 2, with their switched uniform. Can't wait for next weeks episode.

HOLY HELL!!! So many things in this episode is just god like. Ryuuko goes berserk knowing she is not human, treating Senketsu like a monster. She slices through 2 buildings from the wind of the slash, 2 BUILDINGS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD \, I was like DAAAAAAAAYUM SON. Then dat ending, with Junketsu and Senketsu, I'm in loss of words for it, 10/10 episode, KILL LA KILL YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN :)

Also after this ep if I were to talk about an unintentional theme in the show it would be one of "belonging".

Ryuuko's quest to find where she belongs (it was more a quest for understanding than revenge) has brought her to the realization that she was nothing but a tool to everyone (mother, father, elder sister) in her family. So I guess a good ending would be her coming to terms with this and finding out she does have a place where she belongs...

I doubt that's very unintentional, given the show's commonly used symbols of the red thread of fate and a wedding, as well as Ryuuko's bond with Senketsu and the numerous newly revealed family ties, which Nui refers to as the threads of fate, which calls back to Satsuki calling the the blood she first offered to Junketsu the "red thread of fate" between them. The preview for Episode 17 said "Being a parent is all about cause and effect. Well raised children will become good children, badly raised children will become bad children. They will unconsciously end up doing as is expected of them. Ryuuko's father, Matoi Isshin, and Satsuki's mother, Kiryuuin Ragyou: their desires will decide each of their child's fates." I think the point is to break away from shallow relationships, such as those between family or between One-Stars/Two-Stars and Satsuki, and forge your own. Perhaps offering blood to a Kamui is also symbolic of offering another the intimacy of family.

So fucking epic. I don't think I've ever actually used that word out loud except with this show. They pull out all the stops. I mean as far as one small critique goes, Ryuko is always going crazy, but hey, it's great stuff.

It was so awesome all the way through...

I literally shook about halfway until the end. When ryuuko were forced to to wear junketsu, that was when i really felt the adrenaline flow through my body and now yet another week has to pass before the EPIC battle takes place.

KLK continues to get way better. Loved the emphasis on the Elite Four this episode

Also loved the ironic use of camera angles, all throughout the series Ryuko has complained about Satsuki "sitting on high, whilst looking down on everyone", turns out Ryuko standing above her in every scene they are together

(did say Ryuko got captured didn't I Ignition? :p)

That insertion of false memories was particularly evil, I liked it. Aside from the whining at the start, this is the most interesting Ryuko has been throughout the entire series, I like her when she's being mindcontrolled

Next episode I doubt will be as good since it'll be action focused. All the action episodes so far have been bad

There's a voice in the back of my head that says Ryuuko has been brainwashed since the very beginning, bit by bit. She took a side instead of forging her own path and her own opinions, maybe because she was so tied to her past and hell-bent on revenge. That memory rewriting was gross, I hope she'll be able to get rid of them. Is everyone in this anime a fake? Except Mako and Gamagoori, maybe.

Perfect fanservice/nudity in this episode, I admit even that nerd Inumuta was eye-candy. Ryuuko got creepier by the minute and reminded me of Ichigo from Bleach with those white horns/things on her head. Is she some kind of deer now?

Those sheets that both Ryouuko and Satsuki are wearing are Life Fiber-free, I assume? If so, where were they produced and by whom?
The world is the illusion of the real world.

Well, yeah - we both foresaw her being lured to Honnouji, but she didn't exactly get captured.

She was 'repurposed' - at least that's the word I'd use.

I wonder if that "21 I DIE" message will be true..

I'm only messing, as if these "I speculated right" scenarios are worth anything. And I was just referring to the whole marionette thread thing Nui planted on her while they were fighting. I guess it only lasted a few seconds but it held her in place long enough for Ragyo to implant false memories into her mind

Also I'm more than confident Mako wont die next episode after watching this one, I've yet to get that sense that a character's life is under threat. 20 episodes in, probably a sign nothing will happen regarding the main cast's mortality

hmm Ryuko's + Junketsu looks pretty lame. So... Ryuko was brainwashed with fake memories. I don't like what they're doing with Ryuko. I hope it will make sense later. I figured Nui would also be a life-fiber hybrid based on the way she fights without a Kamui.

"You'll catch a cold" says the girl wearing nothing but strategically placed utility belts. Rediculous!

One thing about this anime, its a great play on the whole anime concept of characters wearing super-ecchified outfits in battle.

Why did she not regenerate her left eye? Confused...seeing as she was waving her f***ing heart around without ill effect.
My personal theory about Nui and her eye. It's possible that the Scissor blade severed the life fiber connected to her eye and with no connection it's unable to regenerate unlike her heart that is covered in Life fibers. Just a Theory

THIS.

This comment made me realize why I enjoy the "second half" of the show so much and why I singled out episodes 3, 5 and 7 as the best episodes of the "first half":

BALANCE

Episode 3 had action, but we also got to see Ryuuko's new home life and Satsuki's home life.

Episode 7 had action but we got to see what kind of character Mako would be if she wasn't "Main Character's Best Friend" and also got to see Ryuuko actually USE HER HEAD (by creating fight club and cheating Satsuki's system).

Episode 5, the most action oriented of the three episodes I singled out from part one was good because the action was well orchestrated, a far cry from stupid kendo sticks and stupid BDSM whips and stupid Beethoven Blaster and stupid Hybrid Monster.

It's why the second half is so awesome - there's action, there's well placed comedy, and the characters interactions aren't big empty speeches, but small, playful comments, making such scenes seem more real than stylized (for example the scene in this last episode where everyone was deciding what to do now Ryuuko wasn't an asset anymore).

However, I think episode 21 will be pretty good IF the writer doesn't shy away from what he's essentially set up, i.e. SECOND impressions.

In a blog about this ep I read some dude suggested that Satsuki would try to protect Ryuuko now that she knew the baby sister she was trying to avenge was alive. Another guy felt that Satsuki and Ryuuko's relationship wouldn't change since they've butted heads throughout the show.

I guess the second guy forgot about that one month time-skip. While Ryuuko slept through most of it, Satsuki had quite a lot of time to think you see...

Anyway, here's hoping the show maintains this balance and momentum.

That quote from the preview of episode 17 and your take on the show's theme ("I think the point is to break away from shallow relationships such as those between FAMILY...")...

I'm not sure it's about forging your own relationships but more about owning the space on this planet that only you and you alone can occupy at one time, despite the things going on around you.

I also don't feel that family is a good example of a shallow relationship to break away from given the events that have transpired so far:

The show has shown that family ties are the hardest to break - you can replace your subordinates (Boxing Club President, Omiko) and even best friends (Mako Fight in episode 7/Senketsu Ditch this episode) but your mum remains your mum (Ragyo), your dad your dad (Matoi) and your sister remains your sister (Satsuki) whether you like them or not.

Ryuuko certainly doesn't like any of them but is not only bound to them but this bond has ended up shaping her life in ways that are only just now having a disorienting effect on her existence.

Tying into what I said about owning the space on this planet that only you can occupy, it is now left to her to come to terms with the things outside of her control and realize that being bound to someone you dislike forever doesn't mean you do not own the one thing every living thing truly owns:

Your Self (experiences, pain, POV, thoughts, hopes etc).

Ryuuko may have a bad family and their influence on her life may be negative but the truth is that she has lost nothing but gained not just more family members but more of her SELF. What she does with the things she's gained is up to her.

She is in more control now than she ever was not knowing the things she knows now. She just needs to realize this.

As for offering blood to a kamui being symbolic of offering another the intimacy of family, hmmm, yeah that could work too. I see it as Ryuuko's relationship with Senketsu extending to the life fibers and humanity as a whole and what could be - a mutually beneficial relationship: I evolve you, give you powers, basically, and you give me energy, a little bit of your life force, blood.

Ah. Why didn't I like that episode? I guess my reason is a shallow one: ah yes it was because it happened in the middle of the E4 arc, which dulled my excitement for the series some and as such Nui's appearance lacked impact (again because of the back to back unimpressive fights) (though seeing more of Ragyo was awesome).

But yes, I do remember raving about Mako interacting with the E4 being a nice touch.

Nah, they were a lot more stupid.

Unimaginative too.

Unlike, say, the blob pushing gold on people because it realized that gold is what would get it what it wanted from others: acceptance.
