His rib cage was snatched!! Poor girl who was trying to someone and ended up getting her whole village killed. That's why you don't trust strangers. It might just be me but Sagiri is annoying.

Sagiri out here trying to prove herself!
They're really going to make us wait on a cliffhanger like that, just about to get into some action.

Nice catch. When it's all said and done, Genji just had a strong sense of duty. He lays it on a bit thick, but we're dealing with extremely rigid samurai with a strong sense of honor & tradition. He also made sensible points about Sagiri's actual weaknesses, so it's not as though he was just having a power trip about it.

Edit: If anything, it's her father's disappointment that unnerves me more. I had a certain idea about him after the first episode and that was entirely crushed with this. I can now see that what drives Sagiri has more to do with feeling like an outsider regardless of the role she takes on. And now that she better understands the weight of human life, all the more reason for her not to turn back.

Did they really... just throw a smoke screen because they were too lazy to choreograph Sagiri taking Genji's sword? Looks wacky af,

How a giant just walks to you in a open area without you noticing? I know in the manga it happens like that, but here it felt ... wrong.

Also, what with the pacing? They could easily be adapting 3+ chapter per episode and it shows by how little happens in each of them.

Yeah I hate that trope so much and it's weirdly prevalent. Let a kid be a kid without being seen as a woman Jesus Christ.

it's a woman if she more than 9👍

Typical fast-paced battle shounen, - barely anything gets developed, almost feels like watching power point presentations. I'm not familliar with original, but MAPPA should have at least tried to make battle choreography decent, because everything is just WAY too cliche, I'd rather rewatch Mulan for a good strong woman story.

It's not even art style itself that is annoying, but how uncreatively it's used and how little impact and depth everything has. Look at Katanagatari, it's absolutely beautiful and symbolic while looking like your typical battle shounen with simple designs.

It must have been Misogyny Monday the way Genji was talking down to Sagiri and encouraging her to leave because this is "too much for a woman." Love that she found some new resolve after a surprising heart-to-heart with Gabimaru. Trouble shows up at the end, but I'm glad Rokurota got Genji out of the way lol, RIP bozo you won't be missed.

The cut to Nurugai and Tenza's dilemma was good too. Tenza is an idiot but he has a good heart, not wanting to see a little kid get executed. Lol at the gender confusion. Slower episode this week but still good.

The period which is the Edo period that the manga takes place in, has the view that Samurai woman should govern the household and continue her husbands bloodline . Which this episode portrayed it correctly, same with previous episodes, on how Sagiri was shunned on both sides. Because of how the Edo period system worked back then.

Decent episode. Got to say, enjoyed this one more than the last one but that's not saying much

We have a bit hang time with our primary group. They're discussing their options and what not. The big guy was harrasing Sagiri constantly and it was getting annoying & redundant at times. The background art were majestic in these scenes however, one of the few highlights of the episode. I also noticed very inconsistent facial animations but mostly fluid cinematography and animation

Not so much fan of the Tenza storyline personally but let's see how the anime will handle it. For starters, it was a bit too drab for my taste but the next episode should flesh it out more. We end with the harrasing guy getting got by the giant dude, whose name i keep forgetting but yeah, overall JUST FINE ~~

Damn, so that Asaemon that dipped shortly after his convict got killed, didn't make it back to the starting point.

What a dramatic ending. I wonder how strong is that giant who blitzed Eizen, his assigned Asaemon companion. Is Genji the next Asaemon to be killed by him? That wound didn't look good.

the animations are good and over all the story makes you curious but but there is some issues about asaemons they sould have been more powerful I think because in the first episode they were introduced as the powerfull people that execute high ranking criminals but so far they have done nothing but die and beg in the last episode the fight against that sherk was ok but still we havent seen the real powers of asaemon.

One full day finally pasts and shit is just getting started. What seems to be the main crew with Sagiri and Gabimaru take some time to relax, the island seems to carry an odd mix of religious imagery and one suggestion is the giants are twisted images of god deities.

Tenza and Nurugai also carry an interesting dynamic. I for sure thought we were about to watch them die in 10 mins but nah. Tenza has a very optimistic and self sacrificing personality. He believes Nurugai is a child so should simply live, and that he can persuade the shogun to do so, he was also quite optimistic even in that dire situation and took that blow for Nurugai. I found his character quite, meh, and honestly he raised so many of his own red flags,
Nurugai on the other hand carries a very heavy burden with the death of his village being on her. She blames herself and considers whether to die to atone or to continue the village bloodline. But not for Tenza's fighting words, she realises she wants to survive and pulls through.
The duo are, again, another interesting set. They seem to carry their own purpose in the whole plot, with trying to find a way out.

Whelp seems the island is also surrounded by monsters, and it's safe to say that fresh samurai corpse on board shows that the ship they left on is long gone. If they ever find the Elixir i'm hella interested to see how they leave.
Its funny, i wonder if they'll give a reasonable logic as to why its so easy to enter the island then to leave, minus the current. Ain't no way the sea monster is knowingly letting them in, and how are the Iwagakure also gonna enter and leave.

Props to Sagiri, considering the period this show slots itself in, it also comes with a very gender divided timer period as well. Sagiri can be seen as going against certain norms and traditions which i'm sure made her life extra rough. Already from her past we see that even her father pitied her as well as others.
Again, something i like about the show is how Sagiri and Gabimaru chat, learn a value life tip from one another and then use it to improve themselves. In this case Sagiri takes some of Gabimaru's talk on how much one knows about themselves, and uses it to step up as motivation for herself to prove she is capable to do her job as equally as the men when given the chance. Pretty good character growth imo.

Lmao i'm kinda also accepting that people in this world can cut through flesh and muscle like its fucking jell-o. The giant mistook Genji as a card reader and fucking swiped him with his Master Debit Card.

Interesting development with more character introduction (the "it turns out she's a woman" surprise is quite a classic ahah) and also Sagiri's motivation and how she feels as a girl who is not supposed to take the sword but make children in this society... anyway what is the most interesting to me yet is how the monsters work and what they truly are

Damn, that previous Asaemon who left early was also killed.

I honenstly feel bad for Nurugai. She is one of the few 'criminals' who deserve to live. I don't think she has even killed a human yet. Honestly, a bit surprised that Nurugai's a she. Loli tomboy I guess? 💀

Welp, Genji is done for by that huge mountain giant of a guy. Idk if swords will even work on him.

Important info was shared in this episode for world building the island is almost impossible to leave unless they study the currents or found someone that has. Also, Sagiri is staying which isn't surprising but I guess they just wanted to add a bit of random drama. THE ENDING THOUGH where the big guy comes around and basically kills Genji was crazy.

The episode was too fast to feel any true sympathy for Nurugai-kun's plight. The plot was kinda cliche and very heavy-handed with the traditional female-male roles, though I do understand that they're juxtaposing Gabimaru and Sagiri's character growth.

The after-Ship scene was premium lol  So the guy who tried to escape certain death ... died. There seemed to be tons of ships. How come no one has seen them when they arrived? Or did I miss something?
Also, this giant is really just going around in rampage mode, isn't he? The first guy he killed I felt somewhat sympathy for. Now .... well thank you for getting him.

So that girl survivef the battle royale, okay.
Blond guy was a bit annoying hammering the theme of "you have to survive!" but there's the main girl of the show to prove who is actually annoying, will she finally do something or just keep thinking about things that doesn't bring nothing to the place she is? I guess, I have to watch the next episode...
