Whelp, time to say goodbye to probably one of the best OP and EDs i've hear in a while. Both the OP and ED to this anime are so fucking good, paired with their animations, i haven't seen an anime have this good of an OP and ED since fire force season 1.

All in all, great episode. Mahito getting his ass handed to him was nice, his domain expansion is really cool visual wise. Damn bro, will admit they got me at Nanami getting trapped inside, i was fearing for my guys life. His past is quite deep and makes me respect him even more, but the amount of relief when Itadori busted through, good lord.

Sukuna once again showing that between a battle of antagonists, he knows how to play. Guy didn't warn Mahito for the fun of it, swept the guy clean. Interesting he brought up Fushiguro as someone he wouldn't want to kill.

Guess i'll see you all next year for the next episode then. Happy new years!

So an entire arc with its focus being mainly on Junpei was used only to make Yuuji's character "grow"? I don't know man... not really a fan of the idea of building characters for several episodes just to kill them off immediately afterwards. I think some interesting potential was wasted with the decision of killing Junpei's character but well.

Other than that, entertaining episode and decent first cour overall. Still nothing I would call truly remarkable but let's hope following arcs can be more engaging.

What an incredible episode! Truly everything was amazing from the initial domain expansion to Sakuna arriving and Nanamis backstory. Itadori also morally reflecting was a nice touch at the end so hyped to see what looks like a tournament arc next I'm guessing it's finally time for our team to meet up again. What an amazing episode though omg!!!

Nanamin back story hits me hard like a truck hit a goose, i can barely escaped but still hurted anyway.

Im like a salary man now, I'd been gone through hard bullying by senior, toyed like doll for their satisfaction. Now im okay and can handle things even though the bullying gives no sign stopping at least i know some way to handlle them.

Still, the purpose of my life being faded. I thought everything gonna work out if i have work. But that's not the case, life isnt as easy as it seems. For you who is still haben found work, i hope you find them soon. I hope this anime can bring out others' emotions like what i feel now.

And Nanamin is my favourite by the way.

Welp, is better to leave Junpei dead than somehow reverting him back to normal and then making him into a good boy. The arc wasn´t interesting for me at all (except for Nanami, but again, a single character carrying and taking the spot) but it was good to see the teacher making a change, even by little.

Now we are approaching a tournament arc it seems, and my only hopes are not seeing Fushiguro getting trashed for the fourth time. Dude only seems to be taking as a punchbag after the first episode.

#Anime_Reaction
Anime: Jujutsu Kaisen (first 13episodes)
Despite being not free from typical shounen tropes it gave us a unique presentation of cursed related power system with "cursed energy and technique" mixing with the concept of "Domain Expansion"
MAPPA is also adding foreshadowing.
Direction is amazing with appropriate pacing.
Animation and artstyle is equally charming. The fight scenes are strategically well built.
It has interesting set of characters which are getting unique but at the same time well paced and proper development. Characters have interesting and cool powers.
OP, ED and OST in between are equally good.
First half of the first season ended with a well built up slightly strategic fight.
Usually a narrative driven shounen lacks good action and ends up giving fighting moments rather than a full fight. On the other hand an action focused shounen usually lacks something in the narrative department. But Jujutsu Kaisen is balancing both with amazing animation, direction and execution.
So far it's a solid 8/10 for me.

I was fine with Mahito disfiguring human into weird creatures but him storing those inside his stomach or whatever is just plain disgusting...can't wait for Itadori to kill Mahito.

So, is Junpei really dead?

I'd argue its a good way of handling characterization and setting a precedent for a character arc through a traumatic event. It's actually shocking seeing a character you've grown somewhat attached to have a premature death and it makes you feel more involved in Yuji's grudge towards Mahito. Most JJK deaths matter in some way and affect the narrative long term

I dropped the manga in the next arc because it was a bit dull but the anime's a great adaptation, the quality of the animation is enough to keep me in so i'm looking forward to what's coming next. Good thing it's a 24 episodes season.

On the episode itself the fight was really good, quite simple but it delivers, the two of them beating down Mahito was really satisfying.

Agree but I would have liked him to stay around for a couple more arcs at least. He was an interesting character but 4 episodes won't make me feel anything for his death. It's all a matter of tastes in the end tho.

So can someone clairify what happen in mahito domain ?
In the fight jogo vs gojo gojo said that to overlay a domain is by having a stronger domain! is that what happen?!
What I dont get it , is why sukuna interfere on the fight! because in the first time they encounter sukuna expel mahito and sukuna warned him that it wont be a second time!
but mahito when activated the domain he kind avoided itadori so it wasn't is fault xD
Dawm Sukuna is cold

Thought it ended, oh just noticed it's 2 cour. Season had a rough start, lots of comedy miss. And mc Yuuji not an airhead but sorta out-of-it when he's with classmates, hard to relate or get his character.
Bunch of boring episodes despite top quality fights, until Junpei & Nanamin arcs came, both such great characters & development. The premise of gathering Sukuna fingers for mc to die was an interesting premise, but first half plot just wandered. Most characters in OP barely appeared. Hope it continues the improvements in 2nd half, with more philosophical musings & better characters.

The fight scene between Mahito and Yuuji/Nanami was really awesome. Nanami getting trapped in the Domain Expansion was pretty cool. Sukuna punished Mahito for trying to mess with their souls. The juju stroll last week makes sense in this episode now. I look forward when Yuuji can be reunited with his classmates~ ♥

Why do I feel like all my favourite characters in this anime will die?
First Junpei, who was ten times more interesting character than almost whole main cast
Then almost Nanami, phew, who is more interesting than Goujou
And everyone is pissed at Mahito who is so far second best character in this (first beying Sukuna), I'm sure he will not end well, goddamnit
I feel the these death flags rising =(

The fight scene was really REALLY GOOD. I like the camera angles in this anime a lot actually. Mahito’s Domain Expansion is really cool and when Yuuji broke into it in order to save Nanami gave me chills. I also liked that they showed us more about Nanami. When Mahito turned himself into a kid was hilarious and some how adorable 😂😂 Since the 1st cour ended I can’t wait to see more. I’m a big fan of this.

loved this episode. From the fighting scenes to dialogues.

I still don't understand why Sukuna is so fixated on Fushiguro though...

I also loved how this episoded ended. Satoru always has that big smile on his face, i could feel his presence from here when Itadori was walking up to him.

Dunno if Jumpei is still alive... Looking forward to where the story will go from here!

Pretty meh episode. We got an anticlimactic ending to this overall underwhelming arc. This arc single-handedly ruined Jujutsu Kaisen for me.

Any kind of tension built up is destroyed right away. I was feeling pretty anxious when Nanami was trapped in with Mahito. But all the tension was destroyed when Itadori broke into the domain before any action happens inside. What was the point of the domain if it was going to be destroyed anyway, other than being used as a pathetic excuse to show Nanami's backstory?

Mahito fails as a villain. He didn't even damage anyone in this fight. Not Nanami not Itadori. No consequences for either of them. Itadori got stabbed throughout his body by thick spikes but he is totally fine even though he can't regenerate without Sukuna. Plot armor much. Nanami is saved by Itadori because ofcourse. Some bullshit expository excuse is given to justify it too. It is weaker from the outside because the author says so, even though it doesn't make any sense. Lol. The problem here is the power system isn't established well and the author just throws in stuff as he goes.

The art was complete trash in the first few minutes and then become bearable. The animation was horrible throughout while the choreography has no semblance of flow to it. People who are saying this episode has great animation have really low standards.

The school now deciding to focus on bullying is clear plot contrivance. What prompted the school to do this. They think Junpei has left the school and transferred away. So why now? Also, why is the teacher suddenly feeling sorry for his actions. I thought he didn't even realize he was doing something wrong. Where were we shown that he realizes his mistakes? This is some half assed crap.

Our resident philosopher Itadori Yuji sama strikes again with "What is a proper death anyway?". Lemme tell you kiddo, it is when you die in your sleep or when you live a long fulfilled life and die with your loved ones by your side. The thing is Yuuji wasn't put in such a situation as to warrant his statement. This is just author trying to be philosophical(and failing at it) and it is painfully obvious by how nonsensical and non subtle it is.

LMAOOO Mahito got a relentless double beating from Yuuji and Nanami, you deserved it. Oh even better; Mahito finally performs a domain expansion, basically an instant kill for someone like Nanami, but the mad lad himself, Yuuji punched his way into the domain Mahito has so tirelessly created. And as a punch in the gut, Sakuna cut up Mahito real good! A total defeat, all Mahito can do is now cower and run from the scene.

And speaking of how Mahito's domain expansion is an instant kill. Now THAT'S how you reveal a backstory! Not revealing them shortly after a character introduction, but later on during desperate times like this as if the character's life is flashing before their eyes. This way of presenting the backstory to the audience, coupled with the fact of how detailed and quite frankly emotional it is. It made Nanami's backstory the best one so far. So impactful and so memorable. More so than Nobara's and Fushiguro's short, vague and underwhelming backstory.

And so the battle has come to an end. Both Mahito and Yuuji are alive but in a dire state, Junpei's school now took the act of bullying way more seriously after the incident and the previously troublesome individuals are reflecting on their actions. Well, it's about time considering how they indirectly caused Junpei to do what he did and got himself transformed to death.
Yuuji also took an important lesson from this fight, about how not everyone's death can be chosen and that people will still die. A new resolve is made, with a slightly modified goal, Yuuji steps forward once again...

The after credit scene truly captures my wish right now... I want to see Yuuji reunites with his friends.

Honestly one of the greatest individual episodes of any anime I've ever seen- especially given this wasn't a true finale. Depending on how the second cour goes, I could see this sneaking into my 10/10 range.

Hell, even the usually light hearted post credits scene had a real sweet emotional sucker punch.

I was having doubts whether Junpei's actually dead for good or not so I went ahead and spoiled myself and that was disappointing lol. This pretty much sums up my problem with JJK. The pacing's a little wonky. It's either there's barely anything happening or things are just happening way too fast. Introducing new characters and then killing them off few episodes later just don't really get to me anymore. It may have worked on me somehow in the past but I just don't get fazed by that kind of writing anymore unfortunately. Opening song basically tricked us into thinking he was gonna join the main cast lmao.

Nanami's probably the coolest mf in this show. What a unique and refreshing character. He's definitely my favorite by far.

I also really like how tenacious Mahito is like he'd actually run if he doesn't stand a chance anymore. That was something I expected from his character and I'm glad I wasn't disappointed. I'm happy he didn't get killed this soon. At least I know I can take the antagonists of this show seriously.

This arc had potential. The structure was good but it just really needed more buildup. I'm just left dissatisfied somehow of the conclusion.

At least we get to see the main cast again starting next episode.

So far this is feeling like the next evolution and successor to the iconic shonen shows that existed in the past like: Kenshin, Yuyu Hakusho, Jojo, One Piece, HxH and now this show which never fails to impress me... never read the manga but i'm planing to do so once the anime finishes..

I want characters to die. No matter who they are, even my favorites, I love to see characters die. A well-timed character death gives a story weight. Tension broils. Stakes are raised. My heart breaks. If a series can convince me a character isn't safe, then my emotional investment skyrockets. It's a weird sort of paradox; I suddenly care what happens, because I also don't want the character to die; or rather, if it's a character I love, their tragic end is crushing.

I said a few episodes ago Nanami was raising serious death flags. As soon as he entered Mahito's domain, I was certain that was going to be the moment. I was sure a few episodes ago and I was sure in this episode Nanami's death would be the integral early-series moment that lends a shounen weight (like Zabuza & Haku in Naruto, for example), so in some sense I was looking forward to it.

After that backstory, I wanted nothing more in that moment than for Nanami to find a way out.

That's some great writing and I love this show.
