Aqua dying isn't the problem, how or why isn't also the problem. But how it was reacted it's the problem. It was ok till last chapter not a happy or good one but this chapter is just disappointing. Literally nothing happened. Everyone has to move on in 1-2 panel. Why?. People comparing this to Kaguya ending what are the smoking. Kaguya had proper closure for every single character. That ending was miles miles better. This just rushed everything in. I was so waiting for this chapter to drop and I am so happy Saitou,Miyako,Ai,Aqua and Ruby's dream is fulfilled. But that's it. Kana got shunned so bad idk if can even feel bad for her. She just got tossed aside like her character and feelings doesn't matter. Ruby is hurt but Kana should be more devasted. She deserved few chapters to recover but it all bunched in page?. Akane was literal god when she saved Ruby but after that she was relegated to a role of narrator. Her struggles are not even shown. Even Miyako and Gotonda needed more time. But atleast Aqua's memory with Gotonda kinda wholesome touch. Ruby was the only point of this chapter. Even her redemption is kinda rushed. I get the message of living with lies carrying on the legacy. But again it needed time to cook. This needed atleast 5-10 more chapters to close things out. But it's not perfect huh.. Aka trolled entire manga industry and maybe he got(or himself) trolled. I hope Doga Kobo continues to the anime and fix this ending. Nothing need to change its good as it is but things need to executed, expanded and explained more proper way. Please give this ending and Aqua the justice it deserved. I was all for this ending. It wasn't a perfect rosy ending I prayed so much for but it's fitting for OnK. But the very end sullys it. Ruby & Kana both deserved better. Enough grievance... One intresting thing is how Ruby standing off and running mirrors the the 2nd ED Burning.. Like Aqua dying mirrored Maphisto ED1 I don't know what inspired what I hope it's later the former and he planned it otherwise...🫠 Nonetheless it's still a phenomenal manga. 9.2/10. Oshi No Ko is my favourite anime just won't be my favourite manga. Kaguya>> But I still loved it very much. Aqua went off like an hero, Ruby achieved her mother's unfinished wish. Thank you Aka & Mengo.. Oshi No Peak⭐⭐ Until season 3 |

I was so excited reading Oshi no Ko at the beginning just so it would have the two worst final arcs it could, Jesus christ. At least Akane was done right and never faltered. Basically Jesus who was nice to Kana, nice to Aqua, nice to literally everyone and the one who understood Aqua the most. Incest route would've been better than this. The dream that Sarina got miraculously better was better than this as well. Oh well... It is what it is. Only good thought in my mind, as an Aqua x Akane shipper, is that she was the only girl who really understood him and the only girl he kissed (out of his own volition. I don't mind Ruby kissing him either way, but the fact that he never kissed Kana makes me happy). And the people who are criticizing people for disliking it saying that "it was a tragic manga and ended tragic so that makes sense" aren't getting the point I think. No one (at least I think so) is saying the manga is shit because Aqua died. They're saying the manga is shit because it is shit. The whole end was shitty, at least. Aqua dying wouldn't be a problem if it was better. Changing villains to Kamiki to Nino to Kamiki was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Everything was rushed af, more than usual. Many good characters didn't get 1% of the screentime they deserved, like Mem-cho. Interesting problems were solved in one chapter (like the Kana x Ruby fight). The kiss with Ruby wasn't even properly addressed aside from a vision of the Dr... And the message of the manga is "People will die for idols but that's okay they're famous so they're saving lots of people being cute!"?? Where are the critics to the industry it had at the beginning??? The author didn't seem to know what he wanted with this ending/last arcs. And that's SO shitty. 5/10 I guess? For the good old times? |

I guess a 5/10 might be fitting overall. There were some pretty horrendous chapters and arcs. I didn't end up loving any of the characters and didn't like the direction that pretty much anything in the manga took. Crow girl's whole character ended up being pointless. I still liked Gotanda, Taiki and Mem I guess. Also annoying that some important moments were skipped over in the ending. Like I wanted to see at what point Aqua contracted the brain damage that led to him thinking that plan was his best option. Some of the drama and edginess was fun, a lot of it was bad. Overall it was entertaining and had some great moments, especially in the first couple arcs but there was too much I didn't enjoy later on. |

Impressive writing Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari. I don't care if it's a bad finale to many people. The message is this series is cemented: lies are a form of love, just like how Ruby is living her life day by day. I am inspired by Oshi no Ko no matter how many haters it has because of its lessons. |

I, for one, loved that ending. Aka clearly took inspiration of Code Geass The last chapter itself is not incredible, but it has to be taken as the "second half" of the ending. And the previous one is incredibly good imo. Overall, I do think the last two arcs are not as good as what came before. The movie arc was told very weirdly, I still don't know how to feel about it. The "final confrontation" arc was great, and the philosophy about the ties between "lies" and "artists" is on point. Unlike what some said in this thread, Aka was definitely cooking on this one from the very beginning. I do wish we had gotten more about the crow girl and reincarnation thing. Why do the Gods want human stars? Why was Ruby so important for them that they went out of their way to protect her? |

I gotta admit, glad Ruby is OK. But the ending made this entire manga from 10 to 9 lol.
Edit: Apparently there'll be a spin-off Light Novel about the 'fate' of Akane and Kana. It's far from over guys, at least for the anime adaptation (I'm coping)!

More edit: Apparently it's a prequel. The copium is out of stock.

You know what's the worst part of this ending? It's not the fact that it was bitter sweet (that's not a bad thing per se), or underwhelming, or that the character of Ruby was super underdeveloped, or even that the villains were comically silly (although, none of that helped). It is the fact that by the end of this chapter, every dump and self destructive decision taken by Aqua felt validated. He literally achieved his main goal by the end. That's a TERRIBLE MESSAGE TO HAVE IN YOUR MANGA! Even if it is unintentional. That's one of the main reasons why the ending feels so unsatisfying. |

Aka Akasaka whenever he tries to write a tragedy story. I can't even say that I'm disappointed with the ending, because this has been coming since a while, around chapter 70 it had already been in a big decline. I will miss my beloved Akane, but as for anything else...happy that it's over. Good riddance. |

I’ll give credit to Aka for not backing out of killing Aqua, or having him reincarnate. That said, there’s not much else here to talk about. Everyone just moves on and it hardly feels like there’s any closure. |

After almost 5 years following this series daily, I reckon the ending was not handled in the best way possible. Even though we all knew Aqua was going to die, as he was determined to kill his father in any way possible, and his father was a psychological killer, it would have been strange for him not to die against that kind of person. Also, his wish to protect everyone around him was enough to make him want to end like this instead of making a bigger mess and ending the careers of all the people he loved, so in the end of things the ending was absolutely deserved. BUT the mere fact that the last chapters were weak in character development, as the author was trying to make the ending match up with the beginning of the story, made the author rush things up to finish the series, as he already told everyone the next volume was going to be the last one and also probably (though this is just a personal hunch) he was not allowed to make longer chapters or more chapters as the volume would have to be longer and more expensive and thus, hurt sales. The series would have been perfect if there were 3 or 4 more chapters describing how everyone was touched about Aqua's death and how they rose up again, but instead we got a few panels and called it a day. All in all, a good 7/10. Now lets hope the anime gives more than the ending song with a few scenes plastered over the last 5 minutes of the last episode. |

I honestly don't know how to feel about this. Like, okay, beautiful ending and all... But this is a manga that i've been reading for years, only for Aqua to just off himself with daddy like that? Like, i'm aware that he did so to protect his sister and stuff, but ain't satisfied. Didn't like the ending, although i was in love with the plot of the manga. Feeling a bit disappointed, but meh. It wasn't that bad, just not that satisfying. The ride was fun, but for all the ship building to just get thrown out the window like that? Dunno. Used to recommend this manga to all my friends, never again. Disappointed & unsatisfied. |

@WaterMage What unfinished wish? Ai didn’t care about the Dome! She didn’t even know Dome concerts were a big deal until Miyako literally explained it to her! Ruby’s wish was to find Gorou (Aqua), make him her fan, and have him cheer her on. This whole “Ai’s dream… was to perform at the Tokyo Dome” is pure revisionism BS. The Dome was Ichigo’s dream because it would’ve made him money, and congratulations, now he gets to siphon away from Ruby’s happiness for the sake of his wallet. This series is a 4/10 at best. You people rating it anything higher than a 6 are suffering from post-partum psychosis. |

@WaterMage Point to the exact panels where Ruby says she wants to perform at the Tokyo Dome. Not ‘wants to be an idol,’ I’m talking the Dome specifically. Otherwise, shhhh. No more talking. Speaking time is over now. Ai never cared about the Dome and the ABUSERS in her life forced that goal on her. Yeah, I’m calling Ichigo an abuser. He took a 12-year-old girl in and filled her head with crap about lying and irrevocably screwed up her entire mentality. Miyako was outright ready to sell her out. The other girls in B-Komachi nearly bullied her into thinking she’d be better off killing herself (this occurs in Spica). So don’t feed me this bullshit about Ai’s character, alright? I’m not interested. She never cared about the Dome, never thought of it as some big goal, and the only people who did were the ones who stood to gain from it. |

I think the ending was fine or good for what type of story it is, it started as tragic and end up as tragic also or sad ending...I guess that's reality not everyone gets a closure or a satisfying ending with their lives even after all the tragic stuff happened to their lives lol my only gripe is it feels so rushed and a lot of side characters got wasted in the end. atleast make it "mindblowing tragic ending" or "deep philosophical sad ending" story lol to make it a perfect or great end. this end up just a tamed sad ending and it's fine...it's like Aka just made a story to torture Ruby,Kana, and Akane lol. |

Terrible? Definitely not, this is way better than the whole Kamiki fiasco from a few chapters back, it at least gives closure to the characters in some way. Good? Everyone is so over dramatic lol. The ending is completely fine. I rated it 4/5, because slightly rushed, but not something that would remove a point for the whole series, still 10/10 for me. It’s in the theme of the series, the industry is still as toxic as ever. Ruby has kept scars but still decides to inspire hope and in particular to the next generation, it implies lying because that what entertainment IS, there are no way around. Her dream of never lying was foolish. Slightly rushed, but it does what it was supposed to do. |

@Meritocracy Dome was never Ai’s dream, she was too oblivious to everything for that, sure. "Dome are that incredible?" she says... But it became Ruby’s dream because of her death. It feels like something was left unfinished. Even if there isn’t an exact dialog line with the word "dome" doesn’t mean that it wasn’t her dream. It’s clear as day that doing like Ai means ultimately doing what Ai couldn’t do. It’s established as being the ultimate idol goal by literally everyone and Ruby’s goal is to be the ultimate idol. So of course she wants to do the Dome??? How does it make any sense for her to not want that??? Yeah, sure other are pushing their own dreams onto her, like with Ai. The dome is everyone’s dream. But it’s not like that they are particularly forceful since that’s literally what Ruby wants too. |

What a ending of all time that exists...pppfftttt Fucking garbage ending. Boy's Abyss and now this sheesh wtf. Absolute nothingburger of a ending. Crazy how in the span of 5-10 chapters this goes from a 9-10 to 5-6. Sasuga Aka, you really know how to sodomize an ending. You're going onto my fraud list until you put out another banger. This shit felt like a waste of my time |

And that's a wrap! Honestly, I have a lot of feeling about how this arc has been handled and while I wish it was more fleshed out with Aqua and Hikaru actually going toe to toe with Aqua taking him out as he did as the last and final ditch effort, I do actually like and adore this bitter sweet ending. Everyone is heartbroken and has bad days but they learn to live on with it. Such is the tragedy of life and Ruby as well as Kana have always been people who had faced incredible hardships in their lives and have come out with their kindness intact. The b-komachi hug, Mem cho getting a million subs,Miyako and Ichigo getting to see another dome performance, Akane and Kana watching over the performance, The next gen of B-komachi inspiring other girls, Taiki visiting his parents grave and Ruby still loving being an idol was such a nice touch! It's been a pleasure reading this every week with 'all! |

Gonna have to let this one marinate a little before I give it a final rating. The last ten? or so chapters felt suuuper rushed, it definitely could have been fleshed out for another 20 chapters or so. There were a couple of plot points that were being developed prior to the buildup of the finale that ended up not leading anywhere, which I'm really not fond of in stories. However I do like the ending of Ruby having to lie to herself to continue going, since it loops full circle back to Ai. I'll miss reading this weekly since it was one of the few manga I was super invested into. |

I've read many manga and watched so many anime throughout my life, yet this series has been one of if not the worst experience I have ever head in these mediums, probably the worst in the case of manga. Bravo to that Aka, you created the worst reading experience in my life and I think it will be hard to top your abomination. |

I've read several manga that got axed, and many of them had a better ending than what happened here. I admit that killing off the main character could have been a bold choice, but the execution was poorly done. It feels rushed and pointless. Maybe it was meant to be more of a suicide prevention message, I’m not sure... |
