EDIT : IF YOU'RE HERE TO INSULT ME, YOU CAN JUST SHUT UP AND FUCK OFF. I can't believe I have to do something like this, but I've NEVER seen a community as toxic as those of MAL. I'm leaving my profile public just so everyone can see the sheer number of insults I get just for voicing my opinion.
It's not about being right or wrong : it's about being a decent human instead of a piece of shit.
Also, if you come on my profile page to insult me, at least have some balls and allow me to reply. The cowardice of the people accepting replies only from friends while letting themselves harrass others is mindblowing. That's the very definition of insecurity.
-----------------------------------------------
First and foremost, I'm a kid from the '90s. By definition (or almost), I grew up with japanese animation.
Pokemon, YugiOh, Dragon Ball, Gundam, Saint Seiya,... I started watching anime shows that would air on TV back then. Obviously, in the early 2000's I started using the Internet for streaming, and discovered many more anime shows. I kept following Pokemon and Gundam, and among the new animes I found, Death Note and Code Geass are the ones who sealed my fate.
I expect mainly three qualities in an anime show:
-
audiovisual quality. Because that's what makes the difference between an anime and any other product.
I don't mind weird styles (like Madoka Magica), as long as it's mostly clean and smooth.
I usually divide this point in three: visual, audio, and animation.
On a side note, I do have a preferred standard for anime length: around 40 episodes. Over 50 episodes is usually not concise, less than 30 is usually rushed.
-
depth. By that, I mean: an intelligent story, believable characters, and philosophy.
I don't have any preference for realism.
-
immersion. Because entertainment, by definition, is a way to evade reality. The most immersive, the better.
Basically, I like it when they make an appealing world. If an anime is able to make me literally dream, I'm sold.
These are basically the three criteria I use to judge an anime. But it doesn't mean I can't enjoy a show with a dumb plot or an anime with shitty music!
From my point of view,
it's all about balance.
I can forgive plotholes if the anime is a wonderful piece of art. The contrary is also true: I can forgive bad drawings if the story is engaging enough.
I'm open to any genre of anime, although I hate Battle Shônens (usually way too long for what they're worth) and Slice of Life (boring and unrealistic most of the time).
Ironically, I can still read Battle Shônen manga (I like Naruto and Dragon Ball manga, not the anime versions), and I love many SoL shows.
Also... SUBs >>..>> DUBs!
Voice acting by the seiyuus is an art; voice acting in dubs is garbage.
Finally, if I am asked what I find so appealing in japanimation, I just show this:
Aside from anime:
Things I love:
- music, I'm open to any genre although I usually prefer orchestral music and rock songs.
- innovative tech. Right now I'm keen on Virtual Reality. It allows for the most immersive virtual experiences.
- baseball. I don't even know why, I don't even watch it or play it.
Things I hate:
- The lack of argumentation/reflexion. Think before you speak!!!
- Codes. They are never absolute, whether that be social codes, morale codes, or C++ codes (if you understand, you're a nerd).
- Repetition. I hate it when someone say something they told me several times before. Or when days look too much like the previous ones. Or when a music is so poor it sounds like a few seconds loop.

I never said I'd base my rating of an anime on its manga, I already explained it to you, but no one can see it now because YOU erased our whole conversation.
I'm misrepresenting what you're saying? The example right above proves that's the contrary : you're the one who misinterprete everything you see and read just so you can pretend you're never wrong.
You didn't insult me? You kept telling me MY RIGHTS. As if I was in some inferior position compared to you. That's called condescendance, and yes, THAT'S a form of insult.
And there again, you're showing your hypocrisy. Somehow I'm the one thinking I'm superior to others? I don't recall telling them what they're allowed to do or not. I don't recall telling them their reasoning is wrong.
Worst of all, you created a new account just so you can talk to me, even AFTER I had blocked you (and informed you that I'd do so). That's called harrassment, and you can be damn sure I'm reporting you. Both of your accounts. I blocked you to put an end to this joke, but you keep going anyway.
Yet somehow I'm the one being toxic here. Thanks for proving my point, once again.
I don't know what u expected of the movie tbh cs its basically just giving you more information of what happened on floor 1, which s1 didnt show idk if u expected a new boss scene because i know for sure u would still have something to say if they changed it because u would say that it wasnt like s1 which anybody would say.
I wonder why u arent disappointed about s1 tho which basically was filled with sol with asuna and kirito living together and such ur confusing bro i mean if just like 2 minutes of asuna bathing or her talking to friends make u call it sol well idk but sum must be wrong with u
