People are sleeping on Stampede so bad, cause this is fucking amazing Only 3 episodes in and it's literally already better than the entirety of the original 26 episode run. ( not even just animation, but just the way the story is unfolding, and how much more serious it is while still retaining it's comedy elements here and there )

Honestly this is a serious contender for being the number 1 best anime this season, competing against DanMachi and Vinland Saga.

Can't wait for more dude !
we re not sleeping we just gave up because this series is horrible. Only a few of you guys are still watching. Good for you if you like it but in the end it s extremely unpopular.

You gave up after 1/4 of the first cour has aired? πŸ’€ Just admit you wanted to hate this from the jump, you haven’t even given the show time to explain itself lmfao 🀣

While the visuals were awesome and the episode was well-animated and exciting, as someone who has not seen much of the original nor read the manga I found myself very confused and not in a good way. Clearly there is a lot more going on than they've explained to us, but they didn't dangle a single thread for the viewer to latch on to in order to try and come up with theories as to whats going on.

Why does Vash's brother have super powers? Why can blades destroy rocks? Why does Knives have god-like powers? What are his goals?

It would have been nice to have at least one of these questions given us a partial answer... something we could grab onto and think about as we wait for more content. Instead, it all just happened and it felt kinda ridiculous frankly.

You asked the same question twice πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€ Vash’s brother’s powers are obviously linked to him being an alien, as it already showed. His motives will surely be explained as well, it’s only 3 episodes, did you want a narrator to dump exposition and spoon feed you the whole plot in the first hour? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Imagine a story not telling you everything about the the mystery villain that is introduced like a horror monster that makes even the superpowered MC shit his pants in ep3.

Wow.

For real wtf is wrong with that user πŸ’€ “why can blades crush rocks” 😭😭😭😭😭😭 cuz it’s a tv show about cyberpunk aliens in the Wild West

I didn t want to hate this. I was extremely excited to watch new trigun content until I saw the first episode. As a lot of Trigun fans.

Really dislike the handling of Vash’s & Knives’ characterization so far, along with the reordering of events. The pacing is pretty poor as well. The visuals are nice at least.

That was crazy, 1st part with the bombs was already tense but Knives destruction and apocalyptic attack was stunning in terms of visuals and impact, I'm genuinely impressed by the direction this episode had and how strong it's already starting for a beginning episode, can't wait to see more of it

I dont like it....

This remade seems so different than the manga and it kinda disturb me.
But... July is still mention and so I understand it is a prequel that was non writing in the first chapters of the manga (only mention).
So I'm still waiting to how Orange will adapt Trigun and Trigun Maximum.
Hmmm, then you may be waiting for nothing. It's pretty clear this whole things is a complete retelling. July still existing is a clear example of that.
July OG events may happen in this retelling, which, judging by this episode, could be actually an epic thing to witness.

On another note for all you guys :
I know this whole thing about "3 episodes in and way better than OG" is a community retalation against people not liking the retelling and being specially closed-minded, but come on guys, OG Trigun is still quite a classic. I do hope for the retelling to be objectively better, but still some of you guys take too big of a shortcut by downsizing OG Trigun impact ; it's still ranking quite high for a 25 years old anime (at least I hope this suffice as an explanation to avoid my obvious fanbase bias). Preferring one or the other is mostly a question of taste at this current point of time ; the overall feeling and "ambiance" is quite different between both shows until now.

The episode was more thrilling compared with the first 2. I think this Knives is more a psychopath than he was in the original.
But the visuals are more likable and the soundtrack is amazing.

Ah yes, everyone dead again.

While Vash remains mostly useless since he can't do shit to save people besides the 2 reporters that somehow escaped.

Tho I think they did this on purpose for this reboot.

They made Knives even more psycho and powerful while making Vash look stupid AF and mostly pointless as he just jokes around 50% of the time.

This episode was so fucking good and dark. I loved it so much. Vash doesn't deserve all this hate because of his brother. His brother is so evil. And, that town's gone. So many people lost their lives. That OST was so fucking beautiful and menacing. And, that direction was to die for. Incredible job, Orange.

I'm not enjoying this like I was expecting to which is a bummer. Maybe my biggest mistake was watching the original in preparation for this new adaptation because all I am doing while watching this is comparing it to the earlier anime and getting frustrated by the changes. I was hoping for a more fleshed out story and new battles, but why are they screwing with the characters? For example, I really dislike Vash's attitude in this adaptation. The dude would get so fucking dejected and emotionally unstable when homicidal villains would die in the original. He would constantly break down every time they died! And yet here we're shown an entire town of innocents getting brutally injured and killed and he barely reacts and apparently leaves with a smile on his face (according to Meryl)? What the fuck?
My interpretation of him giving a smile was his attempt to hide his emotions with the reasoning that others suffered way more than he did, and hence he does not deserve to break down like others.

in a way this was the best episode so far. it was darker, bloodier, etc. it made me think that perhaps that could be the direction this new series decides to go. and there was the "you can't even control your gate yet?" scene which is also pretty interesting in regards to where the series can go. and the question of "how can you just smile?" after the town was destroyed, people killed, the plant stolen, and the lady at the diner turning completely against him... with Vash's response being a simple, soft, sad "easy, because i don't deserve to cry" was kinda powerful

but Vash running around half the episode yelling "why? why? stop. let's talk" was kind of lame. that and the few rounds he fired at his brother was the best he could do? i know Vash is mister
, but he wasn't totally helpless either. maybe i just misremember the original, but he seems like a bigger pu**y in this version. and he definitely isn't funny or carefree (it makes me think they removed that from this series)

i'm trying to think how interested i'd be in this show if i hadn't seen the original, how entertained would i be? and i really don't know. it's impossible for me to separate the two and give a true answer

I really don't like what they did to Knives. They turned him into every stock anime villain and armed him with plenty of cliches. The big dumb cloak and hood, talking in big speeches, killing his own subordinates, comparing himself to God and the casual murder of anyone he fancies without so much as slowing down. He plays evil piano for goodness sakes, are you serious?

I know Knives in the original wasn't exactly a monumental threat, but he was good at balancing the emotional threat with the physical threat, so he didn't neccessarily need to be some all powerful demigod with a million tiny lightsabers. Yes it IS arguably in his character to do the things he did, but he's far more generic now and feels more like losing more of the wild west flair. Just showing how he destroyed towns instead of giving the audience a chance to picture it beforehand too just deflates him for me. This is all before setting up his ethical contrast with Vash too, so it just makes him look one dimensional to boot.

Not a huge fan of E.G Mine's adaptation too. Fair enough giving him explosives, not sure why they're shaped like bacteriophages, but also his iconic spiked shell is just part of a big wheel mecha? I don't know if they were trying to combine him with Hoppered but it feels really messy. E.G Mine wasn't even a particular standout among the Gung-ho Guns so I get axing him early, but I feel like he got rushed and they didn't really adapt him as opposed to write over him and use his image.

Also that pregnant lady REALLY should not have been going around trying to shoot people, THINK OF THE CHILD!

I'm not enjoying this interpretation of Trigun at all. The mystery and humor of the story are all gone. Now it's just a Final Boss Quest. Oh well, bye-bye.

This version is actually doing something with the characters instead of waiting for 16 episodes to reveal the main premise.

Visually it was excellent, the best looking episode so far. Knives city destroying attack was a visual feast, and I assume he was giving this new power to better take advantage of the 3D space CGI allows, it makes his appearance here feel like a devastating spectacle. At least, I assume this power is new, seems to be from what I grasp from comments in this thread as I haven't read the manga, and I think I'd remember this it if was in the original anime. Though I totally forgot about E.G. Bomber/Mine, literally have zero recollection of him ever appearing in the original, but a decade will do that to your memory.

Outside of the animation though, I'm not sure I really liked this. For starters, I had my reservations about Stampede focusing more directly on Vash & Knives plot thread because Knives is one of my least favourite aspects of Trigun. He's a necessary foil for Vash, but as a character himself he's not compelling in the slightest. There was, and still is tbf, a chance for this series to fix that, but all signs point to him still being a rather bland stock villain. It wasn't a big issue in the original since his involvement was a lot more limited, in terms of screentime anyway, that he could serve his purpose without detracting much from my enjoyment. But if he's going to be more a more prominent figure like this, I think it will hinder my enjoyment.

And I kinda just feel like this all escalated too fast. Arguably the original series took too long to escalate, but since it did when shit hit the fan it was way more effective because the show had firmly established it's mostly light-hearted goofy nature. Here doesn't really feel like the series developed a strong identity to contrast this escalation. It felt too rushed, and not really earned, for how high stakes everything became. That's not to say their aren't good stuff here, Rosa's send off didn't emotionally connect with me at all but I like the scene with Vash & Meryl afterwards. And their defeat of E.G. Bomber/Mine was fun.

Also, I thought the OST here was quite effective at highlighting the mood of each sequence, whether it be Knives ascending the stairs or Vash releasing those bugs, it enhanced both sequences for me. I do think it lacks the distinct flavour Imahori's OST gave the original series, the music in this one does feel a bit more generic, but I'm glad Stampede still has solid music. Not sure any of it will stick with me after finishing the series, but it's definitely working within the show.

Design of characters is extremely generic and lacking uniqueness as if designed by a committee of what would leaving them feeling sterile and lacking individuality, also basically butchered Meryl's character and the cg is choppy and feels lacking connection to the environment

A apresentação do vilão foi boa, mas podia ter ficado mais pra frente no anime. Sinto que entregaram muito do plot muito cedo e isso fez perder boa parte da sensação de mistério. Mas num geral foi um episódio ótimo e com um bom suspense.

This sure turned into a tragic situation real quick but I still got to say its quite sad (just like the original) how the townspeople (or at least Rosa) put all the blame on Vash despite him trying to save the city multiple times, him being hunted because of the bounty and them just outright ignoring his warning to get away.
