Gen X anime/manga fan; grew up on Star Blazers, Battle of the Planets, Speed Racer back in the day, got out of the Anime scene around the Robotech years, then back into it in the early 2000s. Unapologetic supporter of English-dub anime. I know a smattering of Japanese but not very much at all really. There was a time and place (80s and 90s) when most dubs really did suck, but anyone who makes that blanket statement now is wrong. Dubs have gotten much better and that really matters to the long term survival of the genre and making it accessible to a larger and larger audience.
Anyway, follow me on Tumblr at GenXOtaku1971 where I try (and mostly succeed) to keep it focused on the latest Anime movies and tv shows I've watched lately and my impressions. I try to keep it to pretty pictures and a few pithy paragraphs.
For longer, essay length compositions, I still update my old Anime blog from time-to-time on Typepad under Gen X Otaku as well.

My longer, essay-length compositions you can find on Typepad under Kilted Kraut Sugar Land Otaku Blog. The name is goofy, I know. It used to be hosted on a Japanese platform called "Vox" that was incredibly user-friendly and I still miss it. It had a neat mechanism that let you share product artwork from Amazon, which was damn handy for reviewing anime, manga, or even anime figurines....but alas it closed down and all blogs were shifted over to Typepad for free. My oldest writings on Anime are there but a lot of the links, images, etc, from back then don't work and are not worth updating.
I'm actually chronologically older than Zac Bertschy of ANNCast, but he's been an anime fan for WAY longer than me and a working journalist for many years which I never have been. I don't always agree with Zac, but I find myself more in agreement now that both of us are older and more chill.
