Story seems like a good idea. An interesting one, ninjas in the modern setting, future techy as nijitsu has advanced... The main character is kinda annoying though (2 episodes in) hopefully he has good character development and becomes less annoying as the story goes on.
I feel like he'll still be an annoying idiot 11 episodes in before something finally changes. Maybe his mom supposedly dies or a girl he likes, idk

1st ep gave me hope but no dropped ...i mean if he is to be the ninja chief eventually wouldn't it have better to raise him as one rather than dropping a bomb on him out of nowhere....also the guy is also kind of wuss

The protagonist has an irritating actitude, but I believe he would become more likeable over the time.

That high-tech ninja gear being weak to water made me roll my eyes. It was just a lazy plot device to be used so that the mc could pass the exam(nevermind the"You failed the exam, but did the right thing so you passed" cliche). When I heard troyca was making an original anime i was excited, but these first two episodes have dampened that

When I first watched the pre-air, I thought it looked interesting, but after watching this again with subs, eh, everything seems really random and confusing.

I'm really hoping it gets better after this, because things are looking pretty bad for this anime.

The mom is such a queen! Protagonist is a whiny naive character lol. It is so sus for koga to go to the mom's store with a deal.Well dang Tsubaki, Satomi died quick

They got to train him up first. I thought going in that since he was able to avoid truck kun that we would have seen more action from the MC.

Probably because he is the heir to the Iga ninja clan and the girl is from the rival Kouga clan? Even though Ikkoti didnt know it now that he does they have even more reason to kill him i guess.

Eventually he'll seize to be whiny as he gets trained, i'd assume.

This is starting to remind more and more of an action school LN, albeit with some obvious Okouchi tropes. Was he a part time writer for this show besides Gundam lol?

The script writer has no other entry, seems like a newcomer to this so we can't find out any parallels from other stuff xD

Still makes not much sense that they introduced a ninja school where Ittoki could have been sent to in the first place.

Well, it could have worked with a bigger budget (seriously, a mecha school in Gundam still makes sense despite attempts to pander to teenagers), but at this point in time, the decision to introduce a ninja school looks pretty cheesy. It feels too much like an adaptation of LN from 00s.

For me it feels outdated like the average VN adaptations from those years, they would never hold up nowadays as most of them also have indecisive and wimpy MC's like Ittoki.

I have no doubt that the MC will become hokage in the ultimate end. I just don't like original shows that look like adaptations.

No idea what end goal they have in mind so far but i'll take hokage route for the laughs. Maybe there's gonna be unexpected actual original decisions in the future, it does seem that the girl that tried to off him got possibly killed already so that's a start?

Well, Troika are experienced guys in making original anime, so I still have some hope. I mean, the guys even have their own quasi-Gundam.

I really like the Opening, has a kind of old feeling as 2000s animes.
Btw, I caught some Naruto references

Noticed that as well especially for the verse, seems very inspired from Asian Kung-Fu Generation albeit admittedly weaker than their songs.

Okay the camo makes some sense since I actually know what technology they are basing that off of but it makes no sense how it essentially materializes out of thin our on their body taking up literally no physical space when it’s not visible. Feels like the writing is sloppy or just does a poor job at explaining things at least

Second episode, and it's still the same recycled "you gotta take responsibility" plot. This should've been in 2000's instead of now of all times lol.

Ninja school.

Mom is definitely hiding something. Of course, probably to protect Ittoki.

I could be completely wrong, but I'm guessing that ojisan is the traitor.

I'm trying to like this show. I'm really trying, but it's moving way too quickly for my liking. I don't know these characters on a personal level and now I'm supposed to fear for their safety now that a traitor is suspected to be causing trouble.

The problem with Shinobi no Ittoki, at least in my opinion, is that it's too plot-driven for its own good. It introduces a lot of concepts, like a governing body for the ninja clans, an academy for ninjas, double agents, etc., but I have no reason to feel affected by all these plotlines because the characters are so paper-thin I don't care about them.

Sure, I liked the scene in which Ittoki cries upon listening to his mother's struggles but that's it. The episode used its best scene within its first 5 minutes but spent the rest of the runtime treading water.

Shinobi no Ittoki was not off to a good start, but it did itself no favors by choosing plot over characterization.

After watching the first two episodes, I can see what Toshiyuki Nagano means by the anime having an AIC feeling to it rather than something from TROYCA. I also noticed some Tenchi inspiration behind the anime - which is not surprising as Tenchi was the reason why Nagano chose to work in the anime industry and for also AIC that matter. But besides that, the anime feels very generic thus far, as it lacks that over the top craziness of anime produced during the OVA boom and/or the 90s (e.g., Tenchi); which is what I’m assuming the staff was aiming for. Though the anime’s staff is comprised of mainly inexperienced staff rather than veterans so it’s not that surprising for that to be the case, and I’m guessing the reason behind not using veterans was to replicate the anime during the OVA boom.

Ittoki must be proud of her mama, manage to shoulder ninja village trouble as a non-ninja. So stop being annoying, Ittoki. Then the reason behind his pass actually because of his heart. Interesting principal, interesting principal. Might do another the power of friendship shit take. But oh well, let's go Ittoki, better enter the unknown ninja school than being stranded inside the uninhabitate island, right? Island ... Island ... Betrayal ...
