It hurts me to say so, but I’m quite let down by the OP & ED of my favorite part and I don’t believe that they will grow on me. Of course I expected a lot from the combination of Coda & the composers of Cruel Angel's Thesis. I thought it would be something unique, something exotic like the OST from ASB for part 5, or something flamboyant like Bloody Stream. But I was so wrong.
I like all the previous OP & ED songs. And even though Chase is the only one lacking the JOJO vibes, I do think it’s a good song on its own. But Fighting Gold just doesn’t feel right at all. Honestly, I’d rather have カーテン・コール by SOUL’d OUT as the OP.
The visuals are a bit better than the songs, but still not on par with the previous ones. Really wish that 神風 (Kamikaze) could have handled the job for OP.
Guess I could only have my hopes on the next 2 OP.

Maybe I’m nitpicking as I became a manga reader starting from part 5. Although I read the manga during the early age when part 4 was airing, I still remember most of the details of part 5 quite clearly. So I’m more focusing on how the episode is handled by DP rather than how the plot itself is unfolded.

I just can’t help but think that some scenes & transitions are kinda off.
When little Giorno is pointing the wrong way for those bad guys, they could have cut out the grass part to avoid the misunderstanding that these guys are clearly blind to not notice the blood-covered guy lying under their nose, or they could have showed tall & lush grass in that frame instead of in the later one.
The transitions are always top notch in JOJO. But this time I really don’t get the transition from Giorno’s back story to Bruno licking him. It did catch me off guard if that’s what they’re aiming for.
The color changing during the battles is always an amazing feature. But why choose blue for Gold Experience? It just causes confusion to distinguish it from Sticky Fingers who usually is also in blue.

On the other hand, all the fillers so far are quite nice, exactly what Giorno needs as a protagonist.

Clearly lots of people love this episode, the intro & outro. But for me, I probably need a bit more time to determine my rating for this episode.

This is a little what if thing I have been doing on reddit and I thought I would share here. It is just a what if the whole idea of using the tarot continued past part III. just take the disclaimer that this is all based on my own opinions and interpretations.

Part 5 Tarot

0 The Fool:

1 The Magician:

2 The High Priestess:

3 The Empress:

4 The Emperor:

5 The Hierophant:

6 The Lovers:

7 The Chariot:「Gold Experience」User: Giorno Giovanna

8 Strength:

9 The Hermit:

10 Wheel of Fortune:

11 Justice:

12 The Hanged Man:

13 Death:「Sticky Fingers」Bruno Buccellati

14 Temperance:

15 The Devil:

16 The Tower:

17 The Star:

18 The Moon:

19 The Sun:

20 Judgement:

21 The World:

Reasoning 1: I can't really get into why I put Giorno under the world, without going into spoilers, all I will say is that The Chariot Card Represents freedom.

Reasoning 2: The Death Card represents the metaphorical death of something that will bring great change. Much like how Bruno wants to bring down the old ways of the gang to create a better future for Italy.

Fucking outstanding episode. Love all the effort put into it, the characterization, Giorno's backstory, the fight, everything was on point.

The new OP is great, definitely on my upper half of favorites thus far, love the orchestrated feel it has, however what really surprised me was how much of the ending of the part was actually foreshadowed here, I mean, it's the first OP. It was great overall, high expectations for the other OPs.

The ED is meh and doesn't really appeal to me.

What a weird song choice for the ending.
I like the slight callbacks to Battle Tendency's opening in the new opening, though.
Still, the new opening music can't live up to "Bloody Stream", no matter how cool the visuals are.

There are some problems I noticed in this episode:

1. The flashback is completely out of place. With this I don't mean it's not important, by contrary, is essential to throw in flashbacks when needed to flesh out the characters and understand better the setting. But if we take notice of how the previous episode ended, it doesn't fit in the moment is placed. They're cutting the confrontation to show the protagonist past, when they could end the confrontation first, and then throw the flashback.

2. Regarding the flashback, the protagonist was mistreated by its father-in-law, the guys of his neighborhood made bullying to him, and what did he do about it? Nothing. He just saved a gangster and his situation was magically solved.

3. The movements of Giorno and Bruno after they leaved the train are not anticipated. First, altough we know that Gold Experience can turn objects into living beigns, it's not shown, even in a hidden way, when Giorno takes the tooth of Bruno, or use his stand to turn it into a midge. On the other hand, how could Bruno exchange his arm with the boy's arm with so little time? Moreover, how could he do it if he entered into the boy's body first? It fells quite random.

3 has always been a staple of Jojo since the first season. In fact I don't think there are many fights in the series where these sorts of actions are explicitly shown. Where did Joseph get the time to tie all those intricate knots? Where did Jotaro suddenly get the comic books and magnets to trick Dio with in the final fight?

I know, but it's still quite brought out of nowhere. They could at least show Giorno taking something out of his pocket and using his stand's abiliity. And by the way it was presented, it's completely impossible that Bruno could exchange his arm after getting into the boy.

GioGio is noble. Having not read up to part v yet, I did not know his stand ability, I thought the double Bruno effect was a time stop thing GioGio inherited from Dio.

The swapping actually happened at the time he bumped into them. Watch the kid again when he was on the ground and you'll see how he's holding his arm as if it surprised or pained him.

If you mean the moment when Bruno crashes with the four ones, the kid rapidly change from holding his left arm to hold his right arm. This was just his reaction to be jumped to the ground, not because Bruno exchanged his arm with his. And there is no other moment when he's holding one arm with the other. As you can see in the image in the link:Kid Shots

Great animation!! Good to see Sticky Fingers :)

Not sure about the ED. It just feels like an AMV rather than an ED. Especially when things go crazy near the mid to end.

Of course, they change it on the 2nd concur. So will just have to wait and see.

I already read the manga, so I know what's coming up next. So far so good!

It's great to see the origins of Haruno Shiobana's mafia background and his first use of Golden Experience. That mafia boss he saved was more of a parent than both his parents will ever be. He actually turned Giorno's life around and made him the noble gangstar he is today.

Sticky Finger's powers weren't confined to transporting the user and separating his opponents after all. He can even go into people like they're costumes and temporarily replace body parts. Bruno's Stand has a lot of potential so it's awesome that he became an ally for the sake of keeping children safe from drugs.

Giorno's stand ability of springing life forth from anything and anyone is really interesting and he even had Crazy Diamond's homing ability to boot. If his consciousness was amplified tenfold or even more, a punch from a metallic fist must've been hell to go through. I wonder if he can control what kind of lifeform each object turns into.

Fighting Gold took a bit to get used to but I had already watched it around a dozen times before even getting to watch the episode so I absolutely love it. A gangster related song would've been more suitable but it's not wrong to agree that feeling horny would be a
G O L D E N E X P E R I E N C E. Imagine how'd that feel after being filled with the gasoline of life!

It's not really a surprise. Jojo showed signs of being gay in Part 2. Part 3 went back to pure-manliness. Part 4 started pushing the gay aspects. Part 5 is finally where Jojo gets really, really, gay.

Poor Giorno. :( He experienced a lot of bad things when he was a child. I'm glad that living in fear because of his mother's unresponsible behavior, and then being bullied by his step-father and all people nearby, finally ended and his heart remained kind (as for a young delinquent, of course xD).

Bruno has some dank ability. And Giorno planning to take over the city? Well, that escalated quickly, hehe. We mustn't forget he is only 15 years old, hehe.

Opening and ending are fantastic. Catchy tunes with beautiful visuals. The amount of details and whole attention to details put in this Part is spectacular. I tip my hat to you, David Production!

kek, if you consider aesthetic bodies portrayed as if they were sculptures (the Pillar Men, they were statues to a point though, lol) or young Joseph's clothes as gay, then saying that Part 3 is return to "pure-manliness" is quite ridiculous. xD Because, come on, Polnareff's clothing differed from the surroundings, REROREORO scenes and characters like DIO or Vanilla Ice did not differed that much from the Pillar Men posing here and there. And I believe these are not the only things to mention as such. ;p What I'm saying is that we shouldn't judge clothing from previous Parts as "gay" because stereotypes are about calling them like that just because they are fancy and fabulous. Rohan, in example, wears specific clothes, but we mustn't get he is an artist. Many artists have weird habits or traits and Rohan's one might be wearing them colourful clothes and trousers with suspenders.
