Incredible how a show where the two main characters are moe chibi characters turns out to be the most mature anime I've seen so far. Maturity isn't being ultra dark, nihlistic, or filled with sex and violence. Maturity is recognizing both the good and bad in the world without overstating it. Just letting it settle in. This show has surpassed all of my expectations.

I am with Chi. That tower scene made me almost pee myself. After the first Memory part of the episode and the Spiral ascension, I am glad they lightened it up with the moon and beer.

Maybe this anime is a metaphor for life or something. Taking risks, living carefree and moving forward. IDK. They're both just wondering aimlessly in a post apocalyptic world without a plan. How they managed too live this long is beyond me. I would've stayed at the ration production facility.

Morgue or cemetery(?) in a open place
That doesn't seems good place to put dead people

Probably the most dangerous I've seen so far
They almost died, guess plot armor protected them :P

I always like it when they don't know what is it and still decide to eat/drink it
I guess in post-apocalyptic world you don't get to choose like that xD

That's weird, they only eat and drink haha the after war setting theme is a waste, they only tour around and eat.

Another great episode seeing them drunk after drink all 3 bottles of beer together. I'm glad they are having fun in this depressing world together. The song at the very end was very catchy.

How old are Chito and Yuuri, anyways? Old enough to drink, I guess; Japanese TV is pretty strict about that stuff.

I was wondering about this too

was that a phone with its charger cable plugged in? This would be just before they found the beer.

Yes, that was a mobile phone. I thought Yuu would pick it up, too bad she didn't.

Episode 6 is still my favourite one, but I have to admit that I enjoyed this one a lot too. "Moonlight" part was truly sweet and kinda soft (Not to mention that it gave me extreme gay vibes, you know.)
But I also enjoyed some of the quotes from this one. Still can't decide if I prefer "How can you even live if you are afraid of dying?" or "Life is just a spiral."

I love these girls and their innocent viewpoint of the wasteland they travel through, spitting out little bits of poignant philosophy along the way.

The first story seemed quite harrowing if Chi's observation about the structures being graves is correct. If so, this would be an expansive memorial site, layering locker after locker of memorabilia that extend toward the horizon. I figured it was some mass storage site, but given the statue is a religious symbol, it's possible it's really overlooking the dead. Then again, the discussion of memory brings up how easily people forget facts and faces after long enough. Yuu uses artifacts like the camera to remember people like Kanazawa, which is interesting to think about.

It's somehow difficult to remember people directly, but people like Yuu can use artifacts as a link to then remember the face associated with it. Then again, since it's only Chi and Yuu, their memories are only as accurate as their judgement of their own memories. With no one to remember the massive site they're in, their best guess at the site's purpose is probably the only truth left in the world. Truth, in this case, is what the girls believe in, and with nothing else to rebuke their guesses, it becomes the undeniable truth until they change their minds. Memories are valuable, but sometimes that's all they are.

The girls explained the second story's metaphor well enough. Life, as they view it, loops in a spiral, and the occasional exciting, dangerous, or odd detours eventually feed back into their daily cycle. Their only hope is to reach the top of their cycle, their end goal, and figure out what to do from there. Is it better to stay on a familiar track, however dull or dizzying it is, or is it better to veer off track despite the risk of falling completely off? Perhaps both have their own merits, and it's best to have both around. That way, in case the regular path is obstructed, there's a means to veer off and return to the regular path. In other words, it's nice to have options in life, and to not presume a single life plan or routine will always work out.

For the third story, I can't believe the show actually depicted the girls drinking beer. I can't believe the show got away with that. Anyways, the segment was more of a respite, but it also demonstrated how the world is essentially the girls' playground. With no one there, the girls' antics echoed throughout the hallow buildings sitting atop stepped terrances, dancing beneath a silent, snowy moonlit night. With a world so empty, it's possible that single person would go mad. It's both incredibly spectacular and incredibly melancholic to see them loot, smash, laugh, and get trashed without a care in the world.

Harkening back to the episode's first segment, the only rules are their own principles. They could have kept the memorabilia they found, but they decided to leave them at their supposed graves. One one hand, perhaps humanity's true nature is revealed in absence of these principles. On the other hand, perhaps these principles are, in fact, the manifestation and the direct result of humanity's natural inclinations. Although, in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, it doesn't really matter I suppose.

What an episode.
They went through a super scary life-or-death situation and then moments later they are super joyful after trying alcohol for the first time. Truly a wonderful anime and it was pretty funny to see Chi start nomming on Yuu's hair lmao

This time we dive deep into memories, of how objects help us remember past events and people more often. And then there's the talk about how our lives are like spirals, where they rarely change, we end up sticking to the same routine and continue on.

Finally the duo dancing under the moonlight was wholesome, watching it healed my soul.
