Why they don't explain about the past? How the girl survive and why she's alone?
Why they always leave the new character they met? They can travel together!

Because it doesn't matter. Nothing does, that's the point.

"Maybe she's getting along with it now"

"The feeling of hopelessness"

For some reason, what Yuu said stuck with me. Also my hair stand on end when the plane break into pieces. I'm glad Ishii was safe.

Once the plane is done, I had the feeling that the plane would fail at any moment. Thought my guess is wrong and it came true what a hopeless episode :)
When we did our best and still fails, we just not care anymore and try other stuff instead.

This just barely glances off being disturbing, it always gives you soft cuddles instead. But I was imaging the scenarios...so it's kind of nice for things not to veer off into disturbia all the time.

Damn what a great episode. Yuuri and Chi meet another person building a plane to get out of here. I like how they sped up the plane building part. Kinda sad to see the plane being worked so hard on to break moments after flying.

I don't think the message of this episode is dark, but it's about failure. When you fail at something, it's okay, as long as you tried your best; nothing more can be expected of you. By trying her best and working to escape, she made friends and lived.

Life is like that too. We all fail and die in the end, but we work hard to accomplish goals and make friends, all that. If we felt hopeless and gave up because we knew we'd die, we'd never truly live.

That, and I think it was also about finding a new goal once the one you're working on doesn't pan out. Ishii is the second person so far, after Kanazawa, who's seen their life's main purpose be destroyed in front of their very eyes.

There's also the theme of leaving something behind, to be remembered by. Sure, Kanazawa can redraw the maps, but for whom? Probably so he can say "I did this, this is my achievement". Ishii describes herself as possibly the last pilot in humanity's history. She worked hard and built a plane only from studying blueprints — something that should get recognition. Ishii also says she is glad Chito and Yuuri are there to witness her achievement, write about it and pass it on. It's even more telling when, later on (at least in the manga, I've not reached that point of the anime yet),

There are a lot of remnants of humanity, but they take the form of cities and large, metallic, impersonal structures. There is no sense of individuality attached to them. They're hunks of metal and stone, each a carbon copy of the other, without any distinguishing marks, functioning just fine on their own until their maintenance mechanisms break down. The only signs of humans are the experiences they live (reflected in Yuuri's "go with the flow, live in the now" atittude) and the books and paintings they come across (see Chito's interest in the past and recording everything).

I was really into this episode for some reason.
It felt like the most relaxing thing I've watched in such a long time..

Nice side character, sure she's just there for 1 episode but it made things even more interesting & entertaining~

This was pretty much just a better version of the map guy's episode, which makes me wonder why they were two separate episodes to begin with (even their themes aren't so different). Oh well, the handful of characters are just about all that's keeping this from being nihilistic fluff so far.

Both of these summed up this episode very well.

While I was hoping this show would take a darker approach, it's subtle approach to these messages are keeping a nice balance between it's Slice of Life feel and dark undertones

This episode is my favourite one so far. Yes, I shed a tear and it made me feel somehow empty and sad, but still... It was somehow still beautiful and touching. Not sure how this anime is going to end, but I already have this feeling that I will cry so much.

As soon as I saw that flip of that switch, I was half thinking that it was going to all be okay and half thinking that something was about to go wrong and the plane would break down or something. It's kind of sad that my gut was right...

I really love the characters they run into. Albeit not a lot, each interaction is definitely an emotional experience. I also found the plot twist at the end of EP6 very interesting and refreshing from the norm. Great episode!

I audiably gasped when Ishii's plane broke in midair. Holy crap that was terrifying, but while I'm glad she's okay, it's depressing to know that she's now trapped somewhere in the city's lower level, potentially stranded without any possible means to get back to her base, let alone the upper level.

I love Girls' Last Tour for its delve of humanity's future in the past tense, where the characters re-explore history and technology as if they're entirely new discoveries. The characters attempted to develop airplanes using a mix of antique and advanced technology, both of which they don't completely understand. They're rediscovering flight, reliving all the triumphs and failures that went along with past inventors. Chi and Yuu are also witnesses of potentially the final flight in human history, documenting its successes and failures through text and photography. They're both part of history and recorders of history, or at least what's left of it. That thought gave me chills.

It's ponderous to learn what could possibly lie beyond the city Chi and Yuu are traveling in, but also frightening to consider how many unknowns are there both within the city and beyond. That, and the dangers involved with trying to traverse that unknown. Ishii's plane could have easily broken down in the middle of the two cities, plunging into the depths of the Earth. She also could have made it to the next city, only to find it somehow worse off than the current one. She could have also miscalculated the flight, and the distance between the two cities could have exceeded her fuel capacity. There were a number of ways she could have died, but then again, she could have also died in her base, alone and without hope of ever escaping. In the same sense, Chi and Yuu could have also died, stranded in that steel beam forest. Simply existing in this city has a risk of death, if just by the hopelessness associated with a lack of direction and a means of moving forward. Somehow, Girls' Last Tour can be both uplifting and depressing. This is amazing.

My heart stopped for a moment there when I saw the plane crumple. I'm glad Ishii survived, and as Yuu said she has embraced her failure or hopelessness and now she is free.
