Yeah, I also didn't get why they started looking for the cursed box in the first place.

And speaking of a secret organisation ... it gotta be The Committee of 300 as always in the science;adventure series ;D

Chi-chan's last message is "Kotoriba-",At the end of episode 5, Miyuu pointed that there's a scene of a boy (who look like the creepy boy) bringing a box that looks like a kotoribako to a shrine in Ririka's doujin. After seeing what contained in Ririka's book, it's natural if Miyuu connected Chi-chan's last message with the kotoribako.

The most ludicrously convoluted episode yet. Did they really think they could do this in 13 episodes?

Alright.....
that's a bummer episode.

Some lil girl are blasting a lamp and the owner just chillin in the back... and somehow, everyone was preocupied by the chit-chat and unaware that the store owner are shady as fuck! talk about convincing.

The box that looked bulging and full suddenly became spacious. it's magic! just a blood within and convinient phone strap accesory, so the main character would recognize and scream the shit out of herself...
The most reasonable people in the bunch, namely the professor's kid were just stand there without doing anything... even the protagonist are less stupid than the glasses guy's move in this scene.

The detective scene is just stupid.
said he is checking kichijoji and shit as a lie. that's soo cheesy i almost throw a macaroni to my screen. so, he's asking about some particular curse. the plot determined that the oposing person in this dialogue would 'conviniently' said a clue about 'sudoku' not being a western curse.... and he said so you know it's an eastern curse? (i was like: wtf? duh.... the name of the curse? like... anybody could tell. it's japanese.) he used that premise to further pry her with a pretext of investigation as he proceed to talk couterproductively while being rude and getting no result to his investigation by irrelevantly preaching his investigation subject thet he somewhat know her past life and weakness. does anybody even supervise the making of this script? how could a character be soo annoying and unnededly rude?

Thanks mate for reminding me about that, that scene somewhat escaped my memory. This series could be so damn good if it had those 24 eps and a normal pacing!

I see zero problem with the pacing, if anything it was really interesting. It covered what the Detective was up too but also followed what Yuta and his gang were doing and had them addressing the Mass Suicide. Then they introduced this Secret Society of sorts talking about what they did, The Mass Suicide, and there plans.

It was a good contrast between Yuta and Gang and the 'Secret Society" because then the episode closed with everyone that took part in the Episode experiencing the same realization.

I swear this show has interesting ideas in it. It really does. But the presentation of it is so terrible. The fast pacing, the fast-pacing dialogue and many directing choices that just end up being distracting when there is something important being discussed. Like when Shun is interrogating Aria and the camera starts spinning.

Holy shit. I don't even have the slightest fucking clue as to what's going on anymore...not that I really had a clue in the first place.

So Myu's friend Chi got turned into a meat pile and stuffed into some curse box by some creepy fucking albino kid. Got that much understood.

Then you've got the scene with Gamon writing his own name as he hears it, and in the preview for next week you can see his dead body. As most people seem to be assuming, I guess that means he, and the rest really are dead? That just makes shit so confusing especially since they're still basically a part of the regular world, and it happened seamlessly so it went almost unnoticed aside from the people's co-workers not acknowledging them.

But that raises even more questions. What exactly is that devil ghost guy then? If he's just an astral projection, why cant everyone else who's dead see him? We kind of saw that the detective guy noticed him, but did he actually see him or just take a guess? And then who is the Albino kid?

Also, why were the main characters seemingly alive back when the mass suicide happened? They were discussing it in the café and with co-workers when it happened, and it wasn't until they were watching the news and announcing dead bodies in this episode that anything seemed amiss.

Biggest weird non-sense mind fuck was that group of occult/science elitists meeting about the experiment. It seems like the dead professor discovered some possible theories/methods for astral projection and freeing the soul from the body. The science dudes want to tweak his research and use it to discover immortality by combining the research on astral bodies, which have a different flow of time, and moving them into a human flow of time. Which by some weird retarded unexplained miracle means the astral body would be immortal.

Somehow during this research they experimented on 256 people...all of which somehow didn't know they were being experimented on. And by some method they were all killed because they were failures.

God, literally nothing in this show makes sense. Which is a fucking shame because the concept and story are incredibly interesting, but the execution and story telling are so fucking bad that it actually pisses me off.

Hard to believe this story is from the same guy who wrote Steins Gate. Sure Steins Gate started out weird, but everything that happened had an explanation and was grounded in some form of logic. Was a time travel microwave weird? Sure, but at least very early on they explained precisely how it worked and what its limitations were.

In this show? Fuck it. It's like a bad acid trip. Literally everything is an unexplained mystery. Chi being missing and finally being a confirmed dead box of goo is literally the only mystery that's been solved and we're now halfway through the show.

the devil ghost guy seems to be someone who is able to do "astral projection", maybe hes not really dead but he can cross the "other side". notice when aria said that it seems like she can hear him more clearly and he responded with something like "cant be helped with the change of situation" maybe that was an indication that aria died and is also at the "other side"
the science guys were talking about mind control or something, maybe they stored the victims' soul via electrical energy (as what they seemed to discuss. dont really know how it works) and "controlled" them thats why their still dreaming? cant understand specifically though. they also mentioned there were some "bugs" maybe thats why our mc's are having memories of their death and some are even seeing some visions? dunno.
and i think theyre no longer part of the "normal world". remember at the beginning of ep 4. the megane girl entered the office and no one seemed to care, when she was about to go out, she looked at the mirror and there was no reflection at all. same as that zenigata guy. it seems like no one can see him. only the dead ones can interact with each other the exception of huge melon girl and the owner of the shop. (seems like they are part of whats going on and i think that voice on the radio belongs to the huge melon girl. theyre both pretty suspicious) also try to notice their shadow from the time the drowning happened and onwards, there are scenes where they dont have shadows.

i agree this anime really had a potential. the story sure is interesting, only to be ruined by extremely fast pacing that watching every episode is exhausting lol

The mysterious organization was researching immortality. Not the kind where you never get old and your wounds heal in seconds, but the kind where you live as a spirit after your body dies.
It's not clear what exactly they were doing, but they had 256 experimental subjects, Gamon Yuuta being one of them.
It seems that they succeeded to a certain extent: Even after Yuuta's body was drowned in a lake, he continues to live as some kind of ghost.

It is not clear why they decided to kill off all the 256 subjects, but I have a feeling that the leader was deceiving the audience. Maybe some of them developed special powers, and became dangerous to the organization. Maybe the very existence of special powers was a danger to their project.

Well, given how he kept repeating that it isn't a crime because he is a minor, I suspect the white boy was afraid. You'd be afraid too, if 4 angry ghosts attacked you in a graveyard.

Really interesting theory. I feel like Ryu-tan or the shop clerk might somehow be involved with them just looking at their relative shifty behavior lol. I don't think the otaku detective is. He obviously knows something but I feel like he's too much of a wild card to be evil- just..chatoic good? lmfao

Yeah, They probably know something. The radio voice could be Ryo-tas as well. The exact number of 256 deaths is also quite intriguing since it's a common number for computer storage, It could mean something like an entire memory block was wiped out or something. Then again I guess I might be over analyzing this stuff.
Chaotic good is quite the fitting description for the Otaku detective. XD

It's also a good number of sacrifices for a kotoribako. At least if your goal is to destroy Japan with uncontrollable death magic.
Or they just had 8 separate binary conditions to test separately and in combination.

Kodoku can, theoretically, work with humans (but it's very dangerous, because the result would be worth the title of demon). The detective only confirmed that was not the case, because the analysis showed that the people were dead before they were put in a box.
But kotoribako does explicitly work with humans. And it requires the number of victims to be a power of 2: 1, 2, 4, 8... And there are 256 victims, which is 2^8, the right number for a kotoribako too powerful to control with ordinary means.

The Organization creating the 'New World System' mentioned about interconnecting the Spirit Realm with the Real World thanks to Hashigami's research. So pretty much most of the main characters have.. died? It has probably something to do with the Spirit Realm 'experimenting' they used on the 256 people, that has led to an after-effect that the 256 are also still alive.
At least that's my theory.
(Also you can forsee the fact the glasses girl is dead from last episode)
Maybe only partakers of the experiment can see eachother? That's why the MCs can see eachother? It's odd how the higher-ups/mum/editor dont notice them, but the other characters can.

Creepy child is creepy. So thus far the incidents are still unconnected. The doujinshi predicted Hashigami's death and the location of the cursed box said to kill women and children, and she is related to the creepy child. However this is a seperate incident to the 256-dead-experiment, caused by the Organization. How will this connect?
Someone tried to curse Hashigami in the first episode, remember, but the 'devil' claims that it wasn't him.
And who is Zonko?

Same lol
The pacing i think is fine as it looks like they have to cover a lot of topics that are hard to cover straight away.

If anything im liking how the show tries to give the spotlight to each of the characters and try and expand them.

And at the same time they also have to tie this with the main plot which i find to be pretty interesting.

Apart from the story this anime also has three of my favourite seiyuu's in it and im liking their performances so far so i'll be staying till the end

The story also keeps getting more and more interesting

Already we have these people confirmed dead:
• Yuta
• Shun
• Sarai
• Touko

Probably the whole main cast is dead too, with two exceptions. It'll become interesting when the dead and the living start work together (they're already doing this but they didn't knew they're dead).

When they? What?

I only want to know when Yuta die, when he found the professor, the curse, or what?
I like to post in manga forum when I feel it is worth it, so people will think. "Shit, is her again" or something.

People asked me where I read certain thing but the rules say no telling where did you read so maybe I am too boring for not saying? Or salty because you didn't check my profile that says don't ask because I hate people to ghost me after that. I love learning languages so maybe I did not read the manga in English.

So...entire cast is dead...Miyuu and Ryotas are probably the only ones alive...is there honestly a reason why I should continue watching this anime? I can think of 3:

1. The Key (AoT syndrome)
2. The Mysterious Radio
3. A satisfying ending.

Im in so deep now I might as well finish but it doesn't look good.

Gamon being listed as dead can be seen as a plus. here are my reasons

1. the culprit murdering the professor will have to accept that info, but its wrong
2. meaning that radio static girl besides Gamon purposefully made this so that he can move more freely now without raising suspicion
3. he can also cut ties with Ryo-tas and co and start going google incognito
4. he can avoid the police and that nosy detective

Welp, I'm officially out of ideas. Every week I try to rationalize what's going on, but I'm just in for the ride at this point.

So the MC is dead, and so is the reporter girl and guy. Glasses may be dead too. Makes sense considering they're all around the same age and the secret organization was talking about killing off a generation.

Poor Chizu-chan, it's always the cute ones dammit!

Not really sure where this show is going at this point.

But but what were the clues ?

Ooooow. Ooooow ok, smart ! I need to rewatch the episodes !
One of the more general areas where you might notice foreshadowing to Yuta's death is the ED. At the end where it shows random people walking and then Yuta walking through and stopping, you'll notice he has no shadow as opposed to all the extra background characters

I actually want to go back and rewatch the series from episode 1 now. But maybe it's better to just wait until the entire thing is over. Nonetheless, that was an interesting twist.

If the pacing was better in this show, it could actually be pretty decent.

Good job whoever it was that noticed the reporter girl wasn't really there in a previous episode. Detective boy sealed the deal in this episode (plus they did pretty much tell us they're all dead).

Ria best girl... goth loli and all that.

Yeah the box seemed to move when he pushed on it even though it was half-way full. This esems like a government project right.

Most irritating episode yet. From the speed of dialogue, the narration, weird cinematography and the roundabout way of explaining or implying things. I know I'm not in the best mood today but most shows I can get through this I'm finding a very hard time not being annoyed by.

Um so wait, is Gamon the dead one or the really really annoying detective? It felt like he was a ghost who didn't realize he was dead!

Gamon dead, so how is he wondering all this time? and he even talk to his friend.

Shun Moritsuka (the cosplay detective) got ignored like he's already dead.

that glasses girl look at her chief crying like they lost one of comrade, he didn't even hear her voice.

Sarai also got ignored by his mom, it's like his mom didn't hear (i assume he also dead).

and who's Zonko anyway? she know anything.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS HAPPENING!?

Jeez, this show is mess so far. Let's see what's gonna happen after this A W E S O M E plottwist. The way that story is told is so fucking annoying. I feel like art style is the only good thing about this anime (beside some ridiculous, artsy camera shots)
