I was right... Igna does know who Claire really is.

Finally some action... but... where's the excitement? Mitty is the hero of the battle... but his near-suicidal death... it's like "so what?"... zero emotional impact.

Sigh.. episode 6 end preview was so spoiling, not to mention the title of the episode. Wasn't even surprised about his death..

Come on, he could have turn the brakes and jumped as well but that dumbass decided to go for wohoo suicide ride just to make a story a bit dramatical.

THinking about dropping this series -_-

So Ignacio was actually the bodyguard of Claire. I mistook him for Kal-el in earlier episode. ^^
Mit---ty! I cried. I dig the aerial actions. Good episode.

My god, even though I already knew it was gonna happen from last episode, that was still really freakin sad. Mitty is seriously now a hero of mine. Nobody thought he'd be worth a damn, but Chiharu did and in the end he proved her right.

I honestly don't expect to love this series, but this episode was surprisingly great compared to the others. It looks like it's not going to be so relaxed from here on out, so hopefully it will get even better.

Edit: My only gripe (though this is more of a pet peeve I guess) with this episode is that when the enemy ships were destroyed it didn't show people falling out or screaming and the like. You'd think it would be a given to include that. Unless of course they're all automated, which would be kind of surprising.

I think I understand this wrong, but are they really sending newbie teenage pilots to get involved in a war? Let's get real now...
Sounds like war to me.

Well, if he did that they would have realized the plane just suddenly stopped. Then they'd instantly notice them parachuting down and kill them. That single instant difference was the only reason Chiharu survived. And meanwhile, Mitty probably wouldn't have survived either way. So yeah, he could have wasted his heroism and died along with her to make the story "less interesting".

Well, actually I think he was just assigned as her bodyguard in the spur of the moment. Because now that things are getting dangerous she might need one. At least that's what it sounded like from the lady's words.

5/5

That episode is by far one of the best, thanks to the direction that avoids a bad déjà vu, having already discounted the plot and the death of Mitty.
If there was "also" a quality of designs would be a good bet for framing! * _ *
Farewell Mitty were so nice, it did not, it was much more interesting than the plot with two love stories.
Curious to see the next episode.

Ugh, WTF is wrong with this week's anime. First, after feeling so down with Tokyo Raven's latest episode and now this..I guess I should watch something light-hearted now.

But Seriously Mitty if you loved Chiharu so much then you could have at least lived for her. :(
It's sad to admit this but the supporting cast are FAR better than the main characters here.

And now I'm depressed for good 30 minutes.... 5/5 for the episode anyway.

Yeah, even though we did kind of expect him to die, it was still sad.
RIP Mitty :'(

So Ignacio is Claire's bodyguard? Interesting

Of course, he had to die. Having a chubby being loved by a beatiful girl, we can't have that. Why even introduce it if he's going to die the next episode? Not that it was surprising, especially given the episode title.

Still, there was no real reason for him to die. He could have jumped, too. The plain doesn't stop immediately, and even when it beigins to fall down it would first look like they'd dive. He also could have jumped a bit later, when the plane was already burning. TNeither did he change course, nor did they shoot - nothing was gained by staying.

Of course, they also could just have said the enemy was to busy with the knights to deal with a lone recon plane that already did it's job (the knights had already shot down quite a lot of ships by then).

Or, if it was "necessary" for him to die, why not a real heroic death? The sky clan could have noticed them way earlier, e.g. when he told Chiharu to reduce speed or they might see the light from the engines, or when they sought cloud clover again. Have them do some nice dog fights where he actually shoots down some of them, and just as he gets ripped apart he manages to fire the flare.

Or shoot him down after he jumped, to show it didn't matter. Best make the flare fail too - too early. All he did was futile. Or he could have died from his wounds. Still a better way to portrait it.

This way at least it was neither "glorious" nor did he achieve anything he couldn't have done even with jumping.

I always wonder why shows go for stupid deaths, when they could easily get away with everything from the character surviving, to him taking down the entire enemy force alone, without it having any impact on the plot. The enemy force is done one way or the other, and seeing how the side characters contributed to the overall plot so far..

Seeing how far they got reined in after trying to break the mold before, the likelyhood of Kal and Nina seeing the End of the Sky and living happily ever after rose to like 95%. They will have a crisis for1-2 episodes and thats it. Unless they drag it over to another season.

Felt kinda forced, but he had a glorious death indeed. Sigh, I am in no mood for the death drama which I expect to happen later.

So Ignacio was worried about Claire and Karl before because of his bodyguard job? Hmm.

Yeah, it was really obvious that he would die, even from the last episode. The death flag was too big on this one. But I thought Chiharu would die too, guess I was wrong. Young cute girl scared of dying always carry a big death flag.

The fighting in sky is pretty cool, they are pulling it off well. Is it me or in the preview, it look like Ariel have been shoot on?

And damn, there's an even bigger island... How do they make this huge mass flying?? xD

Damn even when Mitty was just a side character, I still feel rather sorry for him :/ Pretty brave of what he did but yea his death was unavoidable...

Some pretty nice action and well let's see what's next!

Why did "Mi-chan" commit suicide ? It all felt bit too artificial and forceful to create wanna-be-teary-eyes scene at any cost. He could have jumped out with her and let the plane fly by itself as decoy, result would be same thou he could have made it alive as well. Or he could have at least kamikaze into one of enemy's planes and it would make better sense :P

Mitty ;_; he definitely could've saved himself though. I feel like the death was just to add some drama, so it felt kind of forced.

Awww, dude! They should have had the two enemy planes kill Chiharu mid parachute drop. NOT because I think she deserved to die, but because that would have made up for the lack emotional impact and sense of tragedy of

I was hoping they would have the guts and the ruthlessness to do it, but they didn't. That would have been just brutal, but totally well worth it, I think.

But holy hell, the action was exciting it's looking things are about to get a whole lot worse. I wonder what the explanation for the immediate hostility between Isla and the Sky Clan is?

I actually thought Chiharu would die, not from being shot directly but from their plane falling down and Chiharu dying from serious injuries(Mitty having moderate ones).

The enemies turn their lights off and Mitty uses flares to show where they are at the cost of his life. A true pilot indeed.

I agree with Wolf. In every war there will be death. A soldier can't go into war thinking he won't die or there won't be deaths. Going into a war zone is a risk of not returning home.

Kal and others go into battle. Hmm, sounds like a bad idea.
