| No fucking way did that just happen!!!!! WHAT THE HELL MAN!? I'm pissed off!!!! Exclamation marks!!!! But seriously, what a loss. I was blinking in amazement that they actually killed him off like that, with the #DUM DUM DUM# cliffhanger of the crew looking into the cockpit, and then him playing guitar, bleeding to death, haha, it was both hilarious and tragic. Even more amazing that the show didnt go for the cliched 'kill everyone in the last two episodes' route. |

| This is one of the most classic of all Macross episodes. Pinneaple Salad has become sinonymous with buying the farm. The fight choreographs are excellent and the animation top notch. One gets the feeling that the money they saved on the previous episode was used on this one instead. As to why he didn't get treatment, maybe he felt that he was too far gone and wanted to spend some time with Claudia one last time instead of just dying in a hospital. |

It's like japanese staff suddenly decided to try some Hollywood "unexpected" drama twist, like when an old cop is killed a day before his resignation, etc. You see a build up, you know it will happen, and it happens. Only they made me think it wasn't going to happen in that ep. Misa looked very bad when she brought the news to Hikaru. And I'm sure that every pilot felt the loss. That was unexpected. They basicaly thrown out their orders to find Macross best pilot? That woman is not very different from Kamjin. I doubt he realy knew anyone, more likely just to goad her into a fight which worked surprisingly well. Singing dolls were hilarious. I was wondering where those three would hook up with aliens. RORICON! Kaifun looks badas in his chinese dress. Minmay falls asleep instantly if allowed to lay down, but ever so cheerful. Even while they can't be together much if at all with Hikaru, she is a fine lady for a "knight" like Hikaru to dedicate his victories too. For a time at least. That schedule should be changed eventualy, he probably have to fight for it. Either way it's not easy. And the war drags on with no resolution in sight. |

| No way. I'm as shocked as Claudia's final image. At first I really liked this episode because Hikaru struggles and sempai and the others do what they can to cheer him up. Then Minmay shows up, they're reunited and you feel love and life can win this. Then the air combat sequence between Milia and Max was impressive. Like episode 12 where Milia was also involved except longer. Ultimately Milia gets defeated, you feel like the day is saved. But the ending truly gives the final blow. Those mechanics freaking out and then Focker using his last energy to spend normal moments with his girl. 10/10 |

| Holy shit! Roys death caught me off guard, it just seemed so out of the blue that it didn't seem right. Heck, any other show would be like "he has been shot so lets keep him in hospital for a couple episodes before coming back for revenge". I love this though, this show just pulled the 'realism of war' card and it was really effective. Probably the biggest shock to me since episode episode 82 of LoGH. RIP in peace Roy, you were the manliest mother fucker this side of Walter Von Schenkopf. |
| Shit.... Well that was totally unexpected. I was really hoping for a good end between Claudia and Roy and now he's gone... It's not like they haven't shown tons of casualties already on both sides, including scenes where it wasn't just a mech, it was actual people (human and Zentraedi) dying in front of you, but this was a bit of a shock. And having those light-hearted moments between the spies and the bridge crew just made it even more of a shock. I'm feeling this a lot more than I thought I would... |

| incredible, the action was top notch and had the best animation in the series with some really innovative attempts at a 3d feeling battlefield and movements using only 2d drawings as well as the emotional kick at the end of the episode, i have to raise the score to an 8 at this point, it was on the borderline this whole time cause i was waiting for just that 1 moment to push it over the boundary and this was it, wish i didnt have work in the morning followed by school until 6 cause i want to watch more. also im not sure why people were confused about him going to see claudia instead of the hospital, its pretty obvious he realized he was going to die regardless of what he did and he decided he wanted to die with the one he cares about, he promised her that he would have pineapple salad with her and in the end he tried to, the tragedy really is they never truly got to sit down and enjoy eachother's company together like claudio wished, top notch death scene i assume the show is gonna lean more towards the serious side until its self contained climax at the end of its 2nd cour so i eagerly await whasts next |

| Holy shit, getting death-flagged by a pineapple salad. That lady was hardcore. (I knew it would happen when she mentioned it... but I thought he would have been mistaken for the ace-pilot and died, not just gotten hit by some random projectiles.) So much better death handling than a recently finished airing show with the pronoun "Akame" in it. |

| Focker's death came out of nowhere. I get that he probably knew he couldn't be saved but to die while playing a guitar and going all that way, it was just surreal even though i've seen some similar situations. He was a great character though. I wonder how this will influence the plot, really interested in how Hikaru handles this news. Will he go berserk and get reckless for revenge? Will he mope around? |

| フョッカせんぱいー！ T___T I had mispredicted his death like the end of the world prior to its occurrence, so much so that it caught me off guard when it actually happened. He basically had a parade of death flags about him the entire time, which made it hard to accurately predict (Although the episode title "Pineapple Salad" really should have clued me off). It was so impactful to me because we had already passed the climax, and everything seemed in order, but we see that he must have considered his wounds irreparable and gone on to see the one he loved before he died. Coupled with Hikaru's reaction--that he was helpless and couldn't do anything about it, that he should have been out there to watch out for his senpai, just as had been done for him--and the evocative score, and this episode was enough to bring me to tears. Not the bs tears that I've tried to make myself cry at anime before, but authentic, heartbroken tears of sadness. RIP, senpai. |
