Poor thing ;.;, another decent episode. Brilliant OST along with the themes so far for the show.

It was a lighthearted episode. It was enjoyable for me though the story itself felt like a juvenile play this time. That old man is such a perv. LOL @ his bro. So cute.

I was impressed at the art again. It's really nice. Character design is mediocre, but it fits the art. The OP song a bit reminded me of a song of Line Offline Salaryman. Also rotoscoping (or posterization of live action) was nicely done in OP. It was fluid motion, not like frame dropping. Also I was surprised to know a Kabuki theater was their sponsor. I think it's very rare such a traditional theater sponsors anime. It'd be like a traditional and well-reputed opera house such as La Scala, Vienna State Opera or MET sponsors a cartoon, which is unlikely to happen.

So we get to know the whole family now, as well as a few other tanuki.

Yasaburo can impersonate other people's voices after all.

And those two Ebisugawa are real jerks - it's funny how they don't seem able to change their hair though. I wonder about the third...

I really like this show, it's becoming my favorite of this season. The characters are awesome, and there's so much room for development with them. It's fun, but also has hints of a more serious atmosphere to it. I also just love the relationship between the family members, and even though it is fantasy and they're tanuki I relate a lot to them. The MC is awesome.

Learning more about the world through the show's characters is just as interesting as it was last week. It feels like there's so much of the setting yet to be fleshed out

Its still too early to say if the show will be a success, but I have a feeling it would make a better 2 hours movie. Nonetheless, its still one of my favorite this season so far.

I'm not sure what this show is aiming for but for me it's one of the best ~23 min. a week this season has to offer.

The characters are fantastic (and fabulous- great entrance by the Prince).
The scene were they're gathered around their mother in Tanuki form was lovely.

Now i'm curious about the Ebisugawa sister.

I'm loving this show so far, the OST's amazing! The theme for this episode was nice too, how a mother can still love a son thats a frog (WHERES THE PRINCESS!!) an idiot, or a loser.
If satomi's behind their fathers death...
Anyways, Those two twins got OWN'D.

Another interesting episode. There's a frog, an idiot, a child, and a strict older brother along with the mom. I still find some of the things in this show a bit random but...hopefully it'll get more exciting later on.

This episode was so cute!! The raccoon-dogs look adorable and I may be ashamed to admit it but I teared up at the ending. Christ, this anime is gonna kill me.

Also nice music.

Aww they're so cute in tanuki form :D I like how we get to learn about their family in this episode. I'm guessing the second brother being a frog in the well is supposed to be ironic? Since it's like the opposite of that frog in the well story. They're such a cute and nice family, even though it's only the second episode, I'm feeling quite attached to them already. That bgm at the end was really nice. Lastly, Yashirou is adorable: "Go to hell!"

The twins were funny and their sister seems reasonable out of those three. I like how the older brother whistles for a ride and it seemingly looks like a puppet driving it lol.

same here. the MC is such a little shit... and whats the deal with the tanukis just letting people eat them? if i was in their place then there would be a string of severed heads being boiled amongst the Friday Club members numbers, starting with that silver haired bitch.

WHAT how is MC not mad at her?! Perhaps there is more to the story.

I guess MC gets his gender changing habits from his mom. This anime has a nice OST.

As many here, I'm a bit afraid that we still don't know where this is going exactly, but I do love the character interactions. Seems like they are taking time to build the setting, but they are not wasting any second of it. This can be an amazing exercise in slice-of-life and character study.

...But I don't get how this is so low in MAL rankings... (yeah I know, I shouldn't nitpick on others' ratings, but... I'll admit that it makes me a little sad inside.)

I'm seeing one or two complaints about a lack of plot which confuse me a little since they've been dropping subtle little hints all over the place towards a plot. Right now they seem to be setting up the world, the brilliant characters, and some backstory.personally, I think they're handeling this expertly.
I can't say how interesting the plot will be right just now, but I AM already attached and intrigued to the majority of the cast.
Since the first episode I felt little shreds of both heartache as well as heart-warmth.

too much talking.. what?
they drop hints of the plot here and there, if you can't be patient, then thats your problem
sure they are enough, but they aren't necessarily true.

I'm really loving this so far. The OST's are superb, the family theme explored this episode really does well with the setting introduced, and the character interaction is really coming along as well. I love how the whole family hates the Ebisugawa's lol. That fight scene was outrageous.."I have a lot of problems with you biting me there!"

@Bastek: That's gotta be one of the most awkward gif's I've ever seen

Yeah he lost credibility at "too much talking" but then it gets even better with "no true direction" ..dude, it's the second freakin episode. There is a lot of world-building to be done in this very unique setting, as well as establishing relationships between characters, which this episode did fantastically. Yet they are still, like Sourire said, giving us bits of information and background that will most likely lead into an overarching plot.

Dunno what "true direction" you were looking for, I can only guess it involves one that lacks dialogue and exposition.

So basically what you are saying is: I am an idiot, I need action or I can't follow what is going on"

I have to hand it to you, most people would be embarrassed to admit how much of an imbecile they are, you though have no problem declaring this fact to the world.

Bravo I say, Bravo.

I don't care about "true directions" - the humans, the tanuki, and the tengu have been living and interacting for centuries there and the particulars come into picture, adding more and more to the atmosphere and the characters. Who knew that the first brother actually has a pretty mighty transformation and is a worrywart in the same time? The second chose living as a hermit-frog (lol, my brother would love that!), and the youngest is a damn cute and brave little one. I suspected the mom would be a fabulous figure, but she actually turned out to be a GREAT mother before anything else.

I love this anime! ^_^ And the ears!

I don't know what it is about the atmosphere of this show but it really makes me feel odd in the best of ways while watching it.

Also, my GOD the little brother HAS TO BE Mai Nakahara's most adorable role in a LONG FUCKING TIME. I hope he talks more in the future.
