----------------------------------------
After remembering the time with her husband, he wants to wash the guy (actually having husband's soul inside)'s back. She kind of regretted for saying so, but his late husband in the guy's body forced her to do it, and he's remembering his time when alive with her.

The guy might not be returning? The fairy asked why he likes her. He said at first he thought she was a he, but gradually likes her.

The owner keeps rejecting him, so he left, thinking that she's still thinking about the ghost. He left a message on the sketchbook before leaving. Another memory from her...

Gardening and she's thinking about her time with her late husband and his liking of otome stories. She left when sister in law suggested to find a young man.

She find the children's book and met the guy. She confessed to him that she likes the guy, which the soul is heart broken.

Airing 10 mins. later next week.

Oh god. Rokka-chan finally told Hazuki(Shimao) the she likes him. Too bad it's not Hazuki hearing it and I can't help but feel bad about Shimao. :( Can't wait for next week's episode.

Wow. Wowowow. Amazing episode. I can't say how many times I was in tears. This show is truly a masterpiece.. I always felt bad for Shimao-kun, and wasn't too sure if I wanted Rokka to move on, but I can confidently say now that I want Hazuki to give love to Rokka's life again.. She'll never forget Shimao though, and I think that's important as well. Also, it seems like Shimao is starting to accept Rokka's tentative love for Hazuki...
Just so many conflicting emotions, and that's what makes Natsuyuki Rendezvous so good.

Kinda sucks that Hazuki's not in his body right now, but I think the whole mermaid scene that Shimao drew in the book may shed some light on the whole situation.

Expecting Shimao to give Hazuki his body back soon.. and I hope he'll be able to go to heaven/rest in peace sometime so he doesn't have to painfully watch Hazuki and Rokka's love grow, because that would be horrible, even if he's resigned to allowing Rokka to move on.

Uwa~ Hazuki-kun is so beautiful:
"I don't mind being the second choice my whole life." :') That made me tear up.

I definitely agree with you on that. This was a great episode and the conflicting emotions that this series presents you with, especially in the confession scene at the end, are a big reason why.

It was a touching moment when Rokka expressed her feelings for Hazuki... but, at the same time, I kind of was hoping that it wouldn't happen. First of all, you feel bad for Shimao - it is his fault that he is in this situation but, regardless, it would have to be hard to be present for the exact moment that your wife decides to really try and move on from the relationship you once had. Secondly, without Hazuki actually being there to hear Rokka's confession the moment feels a bit hollow.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how things turn out from here - we are over halfway through the series now but I imagine that there is still plenty of drama left.

eh, shimao needed to hear those words. What kept him as a ghost in the first place was Rokka's unwillingness to forget or move on.

It starts off with Rokka wanting to wash Hazuki's [really Shimao] back... And no matter how Shimao acts, Rokka seems to be falling even more for Hazuki, using her late husband as an excuse for not loving Hazuki.

Hazuki continues his adventures in the sketchbook with Rokka-lina. They get to talking, and he learns that if Shimao doesn't want to give the body back it's game over for him. He goes on to saying how he fell in love with her at first... well maybe second sight, after he realized she wasn't a boy.

The story continues with some thinking Rokka's part. She thinks about everything Hazuki has done for her up until now, and realizes that she really does love him back.

In the end she tells him as they walk home from the library and.... it seems that the sketchbook world changes into a deep ocean, the new page in the book which Shimao-zuki drew earlier in the episode. And at the end you see The Little Rokk-maid save Hazuki from drowning... or does she just swim off?

----------------------

Overall great episode! I just really hate these cliffhangers!

I was thinking it was just one of those animation things. I don't think she did swim off, but did that extra stuff so it would look good for the camera.

OMG! I am feeling so bad for Hazuki!! He's really missing out on all the things that were just for him. I do not feel bad for Shimao. What was he really expecting to happen when he leaped into the body of Hazuki? Although, I think his actions may have actually helped Rokka move on. Is that what Shimao wanted?

Looking forward to the sh*t hitting the fan!

She finally said it, and Hazuki's not in his body to hear it...grrrrr...

I honestly doubt that's what Shimao wanted..it was just a result of his actions. It actually bothered me, because I would of liked to see what Hazuki would really have done in that situation. I want Hazuki back in his body already.

Damn you! the confession cliffhanger strikes again Dx

And I totally agree~ it seems her reminiscent indecisive attitude and Shimao recognizing that finally made her realize o.o
I just wonder what their reactions are going to be, with still a few episodes left I don't think its going to be that easy.

I wouldnt mind an eternal threesome though

Pretty good episode.

Despite Shimao being somewhat less annoying than previously, I'm getting quite tired of the focus on him. Hazuki has practically become a secondary character, and by the looks of the preview, that feeling is only going to get worse. The scenes with Hazuki in the storybook were great though, as he remains an excellent character.

There's this dichotomy of emotions, such as in the final scene between Shimao and Rokka. On one hand, there's an added emotional depth present due to the sympathy one might feel for Shimao, but I also can't get over the fact that said moment would have been much better and felt considerably more authentic if Hazuki was in his own body. For now, her moments of tenderness with him feel a bit cheap and weightless, since Hazuki is unaware. As her feelings and the ability to move on strengthen though, despite being great, it also makes me fear that the story will draw them together much more intimately before he leaves, which would ultimately be a considerable indictment on Shimao's character for me.

Despite these minor complaints and worries about where the story is heading, i still consider this one of the best shows of the year. I only hope it doesn't squander it's potential by drawing this particular storyline out for too long, leaving very little time to strengthen the actual relationship between Hazuki and Rokka.

ARGG.....the ending so symbolic....can't figure out if it's good or bad =e

In the 'Little Mermaid' story that scene would infer a good thing.....

But the way Hazuki falls in the ocean and continues to sink makes it seem like a bad thing.

Are they using the 'Little Mermaid' inference or not is what's bugging me the most......... >___<

Again such a wonderful episode--although I continue to be annoyed at Shimao since it is really Hazuki who should be hearing those words from Rokka. I also wonder at introducing The Little Mermaid as a story since it is one in which the heroine suffers a tragic and very sad end. (For those who only know the Disney version and not the original, check out the summary in Wikipedia and remember that the real ending is the one in which she dissolves into sea foam and vanishes forever.) Why would Shimao draw a scene from that story in his notebook?

Rokka declared that she loves Hazuki, but I still don't see that. Her actions and thoughts all say otherwise. I feel Shimao's response has the potential to sway Rokka either way. I also wonder if Hazuki will ever hear about this.

As for the fairy tale analogies, it's still a bit ambiguous as to what it's trying to relay. In the story, Thumbelina goes through several suitors until she finds her true love. In the previous episode, Hazuki briefly assumed the forms of said suitors. What that means depends on whether Hazuki's role in the dream-like world plays an active part, which isn't too clear yet. As for The Little Mermaid, as someone pointed out, the story doesn't end well. The prince eventually marries someone else, and the mermaid turns into a spirit. This seems like it would apply more if Shimao was the mermaid, and Rokka was the prince, but it was not the case in the dream presentation. Disregarding that, the additional sketch was probably just alluding Shimao and Rokka's situation (ghost and human) to the ending of The Little Mermaid (mermaid and human). Since this is all happening in what I assume to be some form of Shimao's consciousness, he was probably just lamenting the fact that they could not be together once again.

Hazuki took a page out Naruto Shippuden's 8th opening. That opening would have been epic if it had a half naked mermaid.

Anyway, really loving this anime. By far, the best anime of this year. I haven't really been into an anime like i am right since Steins Gate. The episodes ho so fast that I can't wait! Shimao needs to learn to let go. He's already seen first hand that Rokka has already begun to move on with her life.

Actually, I think in a way Shimao is helping Rokka to move on in her life, albeit unwillingly.

For example when Shimao actually chastised her for using her inability to cope with husband's death as an excuse to prevent them from progressing in their (Hazuki and her) relationship.

Shimao seems to be more accepting of reality and Hazuki's and Rokka's relationship as the series progress, judging from his actions while in Hazuki's body.
