Natsuko has an advantage in their world as she is familiar with how the plot runs. Meanwhile, I think she demonstrated a selfless side to her character as someone who helps those in need.

Seems this show has some of the usual tropes such as walking in misunderstandings. Natsuko and Luke has a bizarre relationship so far imo, but I'm interested to see it develop more. The action was crazy though. Absolute cinema.

oh wow youre right about natsuko she really knows how to navigate their world

i didnt think about it that way but shes always ready to lend a hand too

this show definitely has its share of tropes but they make it work somehow

natsuko and luke are such an odd pair but theres something intriguing about them

the action was insane right?

pure cinema indeed cant wait to see what happens next

@sg_epk_1048596 it's been a little over 2 hours since broadcast started, so probably about 1 more hour from now is their average

Itano Circus by the man himself!!!

Natsuko wants to go back to her world but can't since she hasn't seen that many Isekais. LOL. But, for now, she'll help protect this world through the powers that are given to her. She couldn't draw anything twice, so she had to draw something new every time, and this time, it was the Itano Circus. That's how she was able to help in defeating those things. Tho, she passes out for three days after fighting. Good way of doing that since it would take her three days to complete that drawing as well. LOL. Natsuko is very cute. I love her. Anna Nagase doing her natural stuff.

The music is so beautiful and so is the animation. Loving the world as well, The President's cameo as a mob character was funny as well. The new OP is so amazing, both visually and musically. Can't wait to see where this goes from here on out.

She wants to return to the real work, now that's some old isekai stuff.
Episode looked good. Pretty sure this is a dream, she met someone with a personality from her real world, the mind works like that.

I also think, that the Tale of Perishing might be a small arc, because in the preview were scenes of the real world that haven't been shown yet.

Like where she's standing in a dark alley and scares a few real world girls...

This anime is gonna be like the Tale of Perishing itself in which it was flopped the year when it's released but several years or even decades later people will begin to appreciate it. They'll be like "wow people in 2025 were really sleeping on this gem".

That's very possible, @phantomfandom
But I'm afraid it might end up like Re:Creators, which is basically the reverse of Zenshū..
In Zenshū. the MC gets transported to a fantasy world, while in Re:Creators, characters from fantasy worlds are transported to the the real one.
They both sound very interesting, yet everyone has forgotten about Re:Creators, to the point that there is almost no legal way to watch anymore!
I hope Zenshū. doesn't have the same fate.

(Btw if you like Zenshū., you may also like Re:Creators.)

I wonder if this design of Natsuko is also a reference to some old anime movie? After all, this anime really gives me a vibe of paying homage to the classics. Luke did well putting that suit on her, haha. Even though it looks funny, at least you can see her beautiful face.

Yeah im probably dropping this. Like, its not bad. But im just not interested in it in almost any way. the references/climaxes with the drawings and stuff are indeed pretty cool {and getting itano to direct an itano circus is something i obviously respect} but besides that, there is almost nothing for me to care about. the mc is kinda fun, but i dont care about her and i will probably forget who she is in like a month. the rest of the cast is so unbelievably one note/generic, even if i know thats the whole point i just dont find it particularly endearing. And the stakes are so low. Like, natsuko spent like 3 minutes trying to come up with something to destroy flying bugs... is it really that difficult to come up with something like that??? Itano circus are indeed cool, but even if they werent you could just draw a random thing. Like a giant fly swatter or something lol. Or just normal missiles that dont do an itano circus. It just felt like cheap made stakes, and not having them at all instead of trying to do something that aint there would honestly be a better decision in my opinion.
Overall this show to me just feels like a generic isekai with one added quirk of animation/drawings coming up to life as a power for the mc, which, despite indeed being a cool power, is just not enough to keep me interested when everything else is just so run of the mill.

>no stock footage

but the transformation scene is literally stock footage

still i rarely watch isekai anime and this one is enjoyable so far

also its obvious luke and natsuko will have romance and natsuko will finally know how to direct and storyboard a romance anime show in the real world

I don't mind the Magic Girl transformation being used again, it's great and stays in kine with other magic girl transformations hahaha

what I am really looking forward to is seeing what exactly MAPPA and its animators are trying to say, if anything, about anime, the business, etc or if this is solely like an enjoyment project. does anyone have any information released by MAPPA themselves on this matter?

Natsuko is not allowed to go back to the real world until she changes everyone's fate in the Tales of The Perishing movie and she can't summon the same drawing from stock footage, so she has to create something new. This time Natsuko summoned surface to air homing missiles to repel the void air invasion. She is slowly getting accustomed to the new world.

I like where this is going.

Digging Natsuko character and his adaptions to her dream?/isekai? world.

"The food!" "I'm gonna hork down all the anime vittles"
Is this perhaps a reflection of what her unconscious body is feeling in the real world.

"Don't die, everybody."
Yes, ma'am.

Apparent short bouts of writers block is a weakness and she needs a deadline.

from what i read the original story of zenshu is like shirobako but the higher ups of mappa scrap that idea and made it an isekai like now

guess mappa management do not want to be seen like a hypocrite with all the overworking and scandals they do with their staff

First of all, getting real tired of Luke being an asshole go Natsuko like damn aren’t you a hero? Try to be a little more considerate of someone showing up hungry in your world lol.

Second of all, they’ve pretty much confirmed my theory that Natsuko isn’t really dead and this is a purgatory of sorts for her to grow as a person and improve her attitude. She has this longing to go home to the real world now and she says “I’ll do anything” she was famously hard to work with, ironically like Luke, so this is probably karma for some of the shit she used to put members of staff through.

The fact she can’t re use drawings for her transformation is also part of that. The world is forcing her to do things she’s never done before and seeing new things. She’s been so stuck in her own world for so long she’s missed out on what’s in front of her. I don’t mind the transformation being re-used because that’s standard in any mahou shoujo show. You get the full one the first time and a re-used condensed shot subsequently.

That ending scene is a perfect example of what I mean. She’s got her hair up, new look, and finally facing Luke properly. Baby steps.

@Sheol01 more like, he found her sleeping face cute. and also did that funny hairstyle for her, but she didn't notice at all, so she's been doing all those cute expressions as a normal girl, which means Luke went like "aaah, so she can act like a normal girl". i guess you could say that Natsuko went from a gremlin to a girl who deserves protection in Luke's mind.

Ehhh, nothing really interesting about this episode. It went exactly as I expected, which is a disappointment....Natsuko once again used her deus ex machina powers to save the day, and the warriors barely did anything. If the country ever gets attacked while Natsuko is asleep, all the residents will be toast. Hoping for a dark twist to this story at some point.
After Natsuko spent so long figuring out what to draw, I thought it was going to be something epic like a dragon, but she just drew a bunch of missiles....really, it took that long for her to come up with that? Talk about a lack of imagination. The comedy is extremely stale too, I predicted her answer would be "food" the moment she said she had something to protect. And the unicorn is annoying. It's only been two episode so I'll give this show a few more episodes since I like the concept of an animator being a protagonist, but the execution has been nothing but a disappointment so far.

Wait I don't understand something. I thought Natsuko changed the timeline by defeating the entire enemy raid in episode 1 and prevented Unio's death, Luke's emotional breakdown, and the town's destruction. In this episode, seems like the town is back to business as usual and the heroes are back in their daily lives, which supports the idea of a changed timeline. Yet apparently, Natsuko still knew what would happen next and correctly predicted the bug swarm, which contradicts the idea of a changed timeline. So what's going on here? Or am I missing something?

Also in this episode Natsuko changed the timeline yet again by defeating the bug swarm and preventing the crops failure, so will she still be able to correctly predict what will happen in the next episode yet again?

The back and forth between Natsuko and the other party members during the 1st half was pretty funny.
I can definitely understand why she would want to go back to her own world.
A good thing they all decided to believe her when it came to the flying voids.
Looks like Luke now has respect for Natsuko after she saved them all for 2nd time.

Anime fans are so fickle. The fact this has a 7.31 on MAL is insane. This show is great, animation is top tier. People are salty that the show isn't what they were expecting it to be so they're neg-reviewing it rather than taking it for what it is.

The interesting part to me regarding this episode will be what the effects of her changing the story will be. One can assume it will take a somewhat dark turn if she doesn't end up knowing what will come next, and could lead to members of the Soldiers dying. Will be interesting to see what comes next, but I'm liking this show a lot so far!

The show isn't great. It is a generic isekai with mostly badly written, one-note and uninteresting characters.
Good for you if your enjoyment bar is so low, that you consider this top tier anime, but its not the audiences fault, that they are tired of another mediocre isekai. Its animation alone will not save this unless writing and character building gets better.
