Netflix Early Release

I thought they’d just introduce Lu, but her whole arc ended in the same episode. Like, what? They also skipped some chapters, not that I really remebr what happened in them other than a certain best girl showing up... But anyways, yeahhhh that whole exchange about how being anonymous is key for a hitman to them not even knowing who Sakamoto was, mwah chef’s kiss. Such a smooth way to flex how insanely badass he is. And ofc, we got the classic "he doesn’t even know he’s dead yet" bit, but wow, it hit different this time. Especially unsettling when the guy’s severed head was still trying to talk. Creepy as hell.

And yeah, Sakamoto pulling an Eren and not even giving them a chance to whip out another super move? Straight-up disrespectful, but in the best way lol. At this rate, the convenience store’s going to have more employees than actual customers soon. That one-liner from Sakamoto was gold. Just peak badass energy from the most lovable shopkeeper in the game.

Hope you enjoyed seeing Lu in action... because well, iykyk xD

I mean family rules are family rules, so they’d need to follow the same right? Or at least have to make sure nobody knows if they do really break it lol. Sakamoto and Shin would follow the latter as we can all guess, I mean when you’ve people dropping over you even while simply walking and a bunch of guys in suits attacking you, again for no reason, it goes without saying you’d have to retaliate. The stuff around Lu may seem sad, and it actually was as well when you see those two hitmen who have a hobby of drawing people’s faces after ripping off their entire head, being after her life. Though they hugely underestimated Sakamoto lol…

…. I mean this guy literally jumped off from several metres and not only managed to save himself, saved his wife Aoi as well, who was kinda… testing him lol. Clowns got what they deserved, and I think that is worse than getting killed off lol. Anyway, I went back and checked the manga chapters, and yeah, they skipped chapter 2 and 3 here. Not something I thought they would, and not something I want to see becoming usual as well going forward, as you know, we’re already lacking one aspect. Can’t skip the stuff as well, even if it’s regular SoL.

Also hey, Lu should've taken a bit out of that family treasure, I mean not that anybody would know lol. Bounty of 1 billion yen btw revealed on Sakamoto. Now we'll see more characters coming in.

Another 7/10 .
Action was a bit stiff in some places but Did the Job overall . Sakamoto Saving His wife was Very cool . I am expecting Better Animation in main fights . Also looks like the pacing is a bit fast and they skipped 2 chapters?? . Still Nothing Major was skipped ig

Wow, this was surprisingly good with the focus of the episode being on family. Shin and Sakamoto setting up the mystery of the family rule at the beginning. Sakamoto revealing the rule to Shin through his memory and flashback. What Lu's family left behind for her. And then at the end, Sakamoto welcoming both Shin and Lu to his family.

I'm loving this group of characters a lot so far. Reminds me a bit of Gintama.

So the animation didn’t improve. It still looks okay at best. I am still gonna watch it, but damn I am disappointed. They skipped some stuff from manga here for some reason… It’s nothing big but still that’s a big red flag.

I don’t know what to say, it’s like I am conflicted… The adaptation is actually abysmal as a big fan of this series. If you are normie, you are just gonna enjoy it but since most normies are new, they really don’t understand why fans are complaining in the first place.

Just one counter to them: Imagine your favourite manga or anime with mid animations and bare bones production/adaptation, then maybe you will understand why people are complaining in the first place. Because really hypocrisy is ruining the criticism around this anime especially from normies.

New character introduced, Lu Xiaotang. Ayaneru did a great job voicing her!

It wasn't difficult to picture what the first rule was. But the flashback they revealed it in was cool.

So far I like this anime. Sakamoto might be old and fat but he's a badass! It's weird how he still has such a large bounty on his head when he doesn't work for 5 years tho...

Very cute and very enjoyable. The brothers were menacing but were nothing in front of our Sakamoto and Shin duo. The backstory was very sweet where Sakamoto jumped to save his wife. It was very cute and the rule of family is no killing. And, now Shin has to follow the rules as well, he's part of the family now. Lu is cute as well. She's working at the store as well. Can't wait to see more of them.

Very enjoyable couple of episodes so far. Can't wait to see how many more people come after them from here on out. The bounty might also increase on Sakamoto's head now.

On one hand, I'm a fan of high quality anime, and this anime is undeniably high quality anime. On the other hand, this concept was recently explored in the Fable, though with much cheaper production.

I’ve seen the live action Fable movies (which r pretty solid watches btw) and I’d say that sakamoto days is pretty different from the fable in terms of plot, but the killer who doesn’t kill thing is common tho. Sakamoto days is a bit more shonen-y if u get what I mean, bro literally caught bullets with chopsticks.

Okay, now a Chinese girl has joined the roster and it's Fable meets Saiki K meets Gintama. We've even got Gin-san's voice and some oddly emotional moments. Lu is now a part of the team and has me wondering just how full this convenience store will get by the time we're done here. Keep it coming!

@phantomfandom That's exactly what I thought as well when I heard about this show.
Though it's important to note that Sakamoto Days focuses more on comedy, while The Fable is more serious; so they're not really comparable.
For what Sakamoto Days is, i.e. an action-comedy, animation is important for me and the main reason I'm enjoying it so much.
Would I enjoy The Fable more if it had better animation? Yes.
Did it desperately need to have better animation? No.
Does the fact that Sakamoto Days exist mean that The Fable is just a worse version of it? Of course not!
No two authors will ever write the same story, even if they start from the same idea.
If nothing else, I'm happy we're getting a different take on a retired hitman!

Good episode and a new character, eh? At this rate, Sakamoto's store is going to have a good staff of employees/assassins.

Sakamoto is like Batman with his no-kill rule, although putting someone in a coma by hitting them with a cooler is acceptable. I have a feeling that, at some point, this no-kill rule will have to be broken due to a sticky situation. Actually, it may be Sakamoto's wife who gives him the green light to break that rule.

Episode 4/5

Two episodes in a row? I'm grateful

We had the third character introduced in the anime and throughout the episode we had a lot of action and teachings focused mainly on trying to change or follow the parents' teachings.

That flashback of Sakamoto is part of who he is now, a simple rule of "no killing" molds him into a better person. Likewise for the pink-haired girl, she prefers to follow her parents' upbringing rather than simply coldly following the rules.

Lots of action followed by punches and weapons + roof destruction lol
The animation after two episodes is looking better to me, so I don't know why some "fans" of sakamoto days are still crying and saying it's bad. I personally liked the animation and style.

Edit: I hope the haters of the animation disappear soon, those who don't like it should simply stop watching and just read the manga ☺️🗣️

@Confused_100 yet another thread where I thank god that i am not a manga reader and am going to thoroughly enjoy this anime. Also, calling other people normies to make yourself feel superior is pretty weird. Plus, you don't know what bare bones adaptation means. Just ask us berserk fans.

Berserk got a bad adaptation not bare bones. It technically got no production lol. And my intention of “normies” wasn’t to say “manga readers” are more superior. Just to try and understand the perspective.

When Lu asked why Sakamoto bothered risking his life to help her, I was completely expecting him to drop a deadpan "for the meatbuns". Getting the backstory on the no killing rule and seeing more of in-shape Sakamoto was still neat though.

Still awesome, Sakamoto is so badass, but if he disobeys the boss, it’s divorce time, lol. Lu Shaotang has already entered the scene, and Sakamoto and Shin are involved in her plot. The action is great, and you can’t help but compare Sakamoto with Yor since both fight using items as weapons and kill with them. Case closed, and Sakamoto got another servant.

Still fun so far, I haven't read the manga but I'm hoping that there's a bit more downtime in between the gang hijinks, the fights are clean and creative which I like but I wish Lu had a bit more screen time or at least more than like 10 lines in the entire episode

Netflix shitty release schedule once again doing its best to kill the hype for a show. Second episode of Sakamoto days is available on Netflix JP with English subs, but you have to VPN it.

Definitely made sense dropping both of these together. They set up who I assume are two of the important supporting characters and let us see Sakamoto in action against some of the various players in this world. Seems like there’s a lot of assassins in this universe almost John Wick like lol.

Also got to see some of Sakamoto’s backstory with his wife. I couldn’t help but laugh my ass off at her throwing herself off the damn railing tho 😭 like yea I guess that’s one way to convince your bf to stop being an assassin.

Son Hee and Bacho talked all that shit about killing ol girl and then as soon as a real demon showed up they started begging for their lives lmaoo

Animation was noticeably weaker. Almost looks like it was in slow mo at times so I do understand some of the complaints from fans, but idk. I’m so used to watching your average run of the mill fantasy seasonal that it doesn’t faze me that much. I guess it boils down to Sakamoto’s manga being wayyy bigger than the average seasonal isekai LN adaptation, so it should have substantially better quality. I can respect the argument. But again, it’s solid for me.

Surprised they skipped chapters 2 and 3 of the manga, but nothing too major skipped. Lu intro was good and not shocked they covered it in a single episode. Animation about the same here where impact frames are more slowed down instead of stills for impact, but it still lacks the fluid feeling of the action itself.

so by now, you have to come to accept the level this adaptation will be at. although they skipped chapter 2 and 3, which i actually don't mind since it doesn't affect the story by skipping it and those episodic chapters can be slower, and i know most people are more interested to reach the parts of sakadays which it is best known for. one surprise since the trailer was them changing lu's fit.

i liked the action here tbh. and now we know sakamoto's reason for not killing, just a simple man upholding the fam rules. shin joins the family and lu as well basically. as someone who hates some of TMS' stuff and was worried about this big time, i enjoyed the first two episodes more than i expected. i'm guessing the most popular boy will appear in the next episode.

Like episode 1, it isn't very good. Not only is it subpar as an adaptation, but my impression of the source material based on the story we have here is pretty underwhelming. There are good bits, like Sakamoto's wife, but the rest of it is about as stupid as your average battle shonen (very). I was hoping a story about a former assassin trying to live a normal life would be more about his daily struggles and less "what if he still almost-killed people all the time?"

Watching 2 episodes and judging by the trailer, I got just what I expected. And it isn't good. I think I can watch the entire show, but Sakamoto Days deserved better in every aspect. At least we have the manga, which's great.

And what's with skipping chapter 2 and 3?
